Who replaces Suggs?

165 posts in this topic

Sergio Kindle has a huge chance to salvage his NFL career this season. How great is it for us to have Upshaw now!!! Kruger will have a break out year....Our depth is HUGE right now......Go RAVENS 4 ETERNITY!!!

I don't think really any one guy on the roster is going to replace Sizzle so all of our pass rushers need to step up really. Kruger, Kindle, Upshaw, maybe McAdoo and we've always had some good luck with UDFAs so I'm sure we'll be able to keep guys fresh and gain an advantage that way.

Im sorry. I hate bringing this up again just like last season but now that terell is out for the year, don't be in denial he will be on IR by next week, we have a new GAPING hole to fill.

To me, Dwight Freemey and Osi Umenyiora appear to be defensive stars that are most likely to get traded if a deal was offered to their respective teams.

What do your guys think.. Personally I'd like Dwight Freeney..

Ravens have zero leverage. And Ozzie isn't going to trade away all of next years draft to bring in either of these guys. Unless they come dirt cheap (which they won't in this situation) then your just wishing.

Ozzie believes in the young pass-rushers he's drafted. And he's going to stick by them for one year.

We're going to keep it in here, please. I moved your post there as well.

Can't replace Sizzle with either of these one trick ponies.

Next man up, Kruger and Upshaw.

Only light of this situation is that we drafted Courtney Upshaw and Paul Kruger is still here who generated some good pressure as a 3rd down pass rusher last season.

However, we can't be comfortable with our depth. I do see them making a potential trade or picking up a vet (don't know for who though).

I expect the Ravens to move forward with Kruger, Kindle, McAdoo, and McClellan in camp and I get the feeling they will add Andre Carter as a FA acquisition.

Suggs is saying he can return possibly by October. Maybe he's right. I will be surprised but maybe he is a fast healer. I will still be surprised.

Best case scenario it's a partial tear and Suggs maybe comes back in November. But that sounds like wishful thinking. In the meantime Sergio Kindle gets a real shot at showing why the Ravens drafted him. Upshaw will get thrown in and Kruger will need to step up.

Next man up. It's how we do. I'm so pissed I'm even thinking about an early draft pick next year. Get outta my head, loser mentality!!!!!

Starters will mst likely be Kruger and Upshaw. Not to rub this in but I stated last year we were very lucky health wise. I see Ngata stepping up ss well as McPhee and Kruger. Would be great if Kindle also shows the potential we drafted him for. Though the pass rush will suffer I will say the offense picks up some of the slack as well as starts putting more points on the board.

Hopefully this turns out to be like 2008 where expectations were low and they surprise. Ugh, I'm still in shock.

I hope Kindle can finally get on the field on a regular basis, this may be his best chance so far to bounce back from the injury

Osi would be an intriguing option, but he is looking for a long-term deal and I dont think the Ravens have the cap or the roster spot for that.

Most likely we will lean heavily on Kruger and Upshaw and hope that Kindle can finally come around. Keep your eye on Michael McAdoo as well, but he probably still needs some time to develop.

Upshaw will likely start now and he could possibly see that 10+ sacks if he is on the field 75% of the snaps. DROY candidate for sure.

Osi is actually entering the final year of his contract and has said that if a team trades for him, he wont ask to restructure. Meaning he wants to play somewhere else for his last year, and play well.. then when he hits free agency next offseason, he has more signing leverage.

Doesnt Upshaw bring pass rushing and setting the edge with him from college? So who sets the edge on the other side to rotate with Kruger? If I remember correctly when Suggs first came into this league he was a pass rusher and was developed to do all the things he does now. Ray will still be in the center calling out plays and pointing guys out. This will be a great learning experience for them.

Upshaw, Kruger and Kindle in rotation. 20 sacks and i'll be happy. Kruger will be setting the edge like he did in College.

I really don't want us to spend a draft pick on a trade for Osi. I would rather struggle with Upshaw and Kruger through their growing pains than result to that. I would rather sign a veteran FA like Andre Carter who is still available than send another draft pick to a team for a player. I don't want a repeat of last year with Lee Evans. Remember, Osi had some injuries before, too.

At this point, though, I would rather start Upshaw and Kruger.

No One on the current roster replaces suggs. Next man up doesn't apply in this situation. You don't replace the game planning other coordinators have to do for suggs.

I have to agree. I'd like the see the young guys get a shot or sign an inexpensive FA.

I'd still like to see them try and upgrade the offense so we can keep the D off the field.

Why are you guys talking about getting Osi and Freeney. Neither one can replace Suggs. We nee an OLB not a DE. We need a guy who can stop the run and cover in pass neither of which can do that. Man [profanity deleted]. I really hope we dont miss playoffs cause of this. As much as I'd love to get Manti Teo I couldnt stand to watch the Ravens lose that much. Even if we get Teo Id still want an insanely redicolous pass rusher if our season ends without playoffs.

i love how you think! it is like mine! lol! Kruger and Upshaw have to play at a higher level and be pure beasts off the edge! and Kindle as well! they are young, have fresh legs and are aggressive. we should be okay! it is time for our young lions to shine! and no doubt...Ray Lewis will have them foaming at the mouth before the start of the season! believe that!

Maybe then, he is making 4M though. That is a lot considering our cap flexibility. I think it could be done though

No offense, but you are in denial. We have neither the cap room to pay one of those guys nor the FO that would be foolish enough to give away all our draft picks from next year to get them. Our existing roster will have to fill the bill.
