A frustrating draft and now this? At least they'll have a relatively long time to adjust, unlike if he was injured in a pre-season game.
Well, at this point the Upshaw pick is exactly what we need now. This is both sad and frustrating news...when will athletes learn to NOT take part in activities that jeopardize their careers!!

Just heard it on the Fan, and i hope its some freakish joke...

Torn Achilles Tendon

here is the proof
http://profootballta...chilles-tendon/

Devistating blow....

Next man up, lets see what Upshaw, Kruger and Kindle can bring to the table. Also need Mcphee to step it up.
That sucks. Get well suggs. Never want to see any player lostfor the season no matter what team he plays for.

I'm probably just in denial, but I don't think we will go this entire 2012 season without seeing him on the field. Yes, the achilles tendon is one of the biggest in the body, but with the advances we've made in sports injuries over the past decade, I can see him coming back in mid October... hungrier than ever.

Lets wait to hear what the athletic trainers say before we believe Adam Schefler.

Achilles are long term injuries, especially for a DE/OLB who propels forward suddenly. Not good!!!
The Achilles tendon injury is considered one of the worst injuries you can sustain, it's true. Tendons and ligaments are difficult to predict the recovery due to how they heal, especially a tendon. Tendons are denser than ligaments because they hold the muscle directly to the bone, so they bear a lot more weight than a ligament. Suggs can come back to form if he heals up well and doesn't rush it. I feel like he will be fine because other athletes have come back from these tears, but I think it will take 2 years for him to be back to where he was before the injury.

These injuries are like ACL tears but they can be worse, though ACL tears have a higher rate of ending careers but that could be due to there being more of them.

You have to remind us about how the season ended too?
I...guess? Not related to us at all. Trust me, nobody hates Cundiff more than I do.

Please let it just be a bad sprain. I cannot fathom the Ravens D without Suggs putting on the pressure on opposing QBs. He is way beyond that to this defense. I just hope this isn't true for the sake of the Ravens.

If however, it turns out to be true, then evidently, Upshaw will have his shot at wreaking havoc, and he better be a very quick study...

Recently all I've thought about is how lucky we've been with our major stars NOT getting injured in recent years....

The secondary too... having that great pass rush made our DBs look really good. Webby, The Jimmy, and Cary are going to earn their money this year.

P.S. I think Ozzie needs to call Jerry Reese and figure out a way to get Osi in here ASAP.
Regardless we have to bring someone in even if it is Osi. The Ravens can't be comfortable knowing that the only depth that they have at OLB is Kindle (jury is still out on him with his injury).

Guys stop harping on the fact that he shouldn't have been playing basketball. More than likely the injury would have happened regardless of the activity.

He was playing basketball according to reports. I've played BB many times without tearing or breaking anything. I hope McAdoo and Kindle are working their butt off. I feel Kruger is in for a big year.

Our defense won't be as dominant but we still have the best secondary and should still be great against the run.

Joe and the offense are gonna need to step up the game to keep this dream of a SB in 2012 a float.

I'm holding out until he is officially diagnosed ... but it doesn't look good for Suggs. The team however will be fine!

Ray Lewis missed a month last year and Reed missed 6 games the year before. Even Ngata missed a couple of games in 2009 for the first time in his career.

I would love for that to happen. With that said, I highly doubt Suggs is back that early. The earliest he would return is December, and that is if he has the blood of Wolverine. I think he will be back to what we know him to be by the beginning of the 2014 season or perhaps midway through it.

Well I stepped on glass and tore my foot up Sunday night. Huge limp right now. I suppose today is the perfect day to start wearing jerseys to work again......starting with Suggs. Ugh. :(

It wouldn't be a problem if he had a sprain, but a tear needs to be surgically repaired. This would put him out for the season and hinder his play into the following season if it's true. Is anyone out there a medical doctor? I need a second opinion here.

"The Achilles' tear helps explain the Ravens' use of the 35th overall pick on Courtney Upshaw."

that's just Rotoworld's take...
