What Are You Looking Forward Too?

I can't wait for the battle for the WR3 spot. I think Doss will capture it and flourish. I wish we had given him a better oppourtunity last season because I think he could have done and admirable job, but nonetheless; better late than never I suppose.

I feel like we're a fanbase in denial on this one. We've said this every year hoping for a change, but only getting more of the same....

*sigh*

Well to be honest I loved the playcalling in a few of our games. And the Broncos game in 2010 after Cam was heavily scrutinized. Unfortunately it went back to business as usual (run, run , 5 yard pass, punt) for a lot of 2011. But after the NE playoff game when we finally started throwing on 1st down I think Cam got the message. I'm expecting to see more good games called but still the usual bad ones.

Preseason Projection:

Tandon Doss might be our leading receiver as he plays with 1st team, 2nd team, and 3rd team due to lack of WR Depth.

Tommy Streeter will play in the 2nd half and will be all over the place with mixed results (Blows by the defense, but can't hold onto the ball)

Anthony Allen, Bernard Pierce, Damien Berry, and Bobby Rainey are going to take all the reps as Ray Rice rests or plays one series per game(No need to use him in meaningless games)

1st String Defense (R. Lewis, T. Suggs, H. Ngata, L. Webb, C. Williams, E. Reed, B. Pollard, P. Mcphee, T.Cody, J. McClain, P. Kruger) will be impressive as always.

2nd String Defense (C. Upshaw, S. Kindle, J. Smith, C. Graham, C. Thompson, D. Tyson, A. Jones, N. Jean-Baptiste, S. Considine, D. Ellerbe, B. Ayanbadejo) doesn't disappoint.

3rd String Defense will have potential and some hard working players who will make the coaches think hard about their roster spot.
Possible Impressive Players:
D. Gorrer, Ch. Brown, Ace Jackson, A. McClellan, E. Cook, I. Kitchen, Ch. Williams, M. McAdoo)

4th String?
I think our two undrafted NTs in Kitchen and Jean-Baptiste will have a lot of reps to shwo their worthiness in camp.

I look forward to two things. The first is people using proper grammar in their thread titles. The other is this August. I cant wait to see how this team is going to pull together next season. Should be quite a show.

1. The defense dominating, once again. Webb continnuing to make plays, Cary Williams improving even more. And Jimmy Smith handling those bigger receivers who think they can outjump anyone. Can't wait to see these corners go against some of the better producing passing offenses in the league this year. Particularly the Giants and Patriots.

2. If there is ever hope for the Ravens offense... it's going to be Torrey Smith. Hopefully Flacco can find him more often. Hopefully he gets hot right out of the gate on Week 1, and ends up being considered one of the best in the league.

3. ANY improvement on special teams would be nice. The kick-offs. The field goals. The returns. Personally, I'm fine with touchbacks every single kick-off. I'm not asking to try and play cute, and try to pin teams inside the 10 on a kick-off. On punts.... sure, try that. Bring in however many kickers it takes during camp to find SOMEONE who can make a 50 yarder and has a demeanor that isn't scared and tight. And the return game... please try practicing blocking this year? I saw none of it last year.

But more than anything... I want to see Ed Reed making plays again! I want at least 8 picks, and hopefully plenty of return yards! I want to see Reed allowed to blitz the QB, and get a couple forced fumbles or sacks. Hopefully with the corners the Ravens have, Reed will finally get that freedom he used to have when the Ravens had a pass rush, and had McAlister and Rolle.

I like Doss... but doi you honestly expect Harbaugh to give him a chance? Doghouse for life, even if there's no good reason for him being in there!

Tandon Doss was still recovering from injuries from his rookie year, which is why he fell. Then there was the lockout, Lee Evans, and other factors.

This is his time to shine since WR#3 is up for grabs. Also, the competition after Smith and Boldin, isn;t very strong, so Doss might have a chance to play a lot, especially in preseason.

He has all the tools (Route Running, Physicality, Hands, Size) to make a strong impression. I think if he works hard to win the KR Job, then he will be on Harbaugh's good side.

Unless our offensive philosophy changes, anyone that thinks Flacco needs to throw for a bazillion yards in order to "prove" himself as being "improved" are really overvaluing fantasy football.

As the OP said, if we can see his play (i.e when scouts talk about tape) improve regardless of the numbers, then we can annoint ([profanity deleted] whatever else the national media and other teams' stupid fans think) him.

We shouldn't need league approval of who we root for.

For me, it's:

Joe's decision-making. Sometimes, he just needs to learn to live for another day. But ABOVE all that, we need to...

Have WRs GET OPEN! More often than not, this necessitates Joe into 'having' to force to throw to coveragte, because no one can get open. Unti this improves, the statss-[profanity deleted]s among our fanbase won't be happy.

Improved O-line play - running and passing. A lot of the time alst year, I saw RR get stufed. I know it's a collaborative relationship between ball-carrier/QB and the O-line. But more often than not the o-line have been wanting and have let un-necessary defenders into the backfield almost too easily.

Our defense giving up the big play late. How many times do we grind out teams for most of the game, then suddenly our defense is the Patriots defense and five up a big 3rd/4thdown/redzone play.

Hopefully he realized the potential of 3 wide sets with Boldin in the slot. Evans actually made an impact that game, up until the infamous play in the endzone, because Cam Cam let him see the field and play outside where his speed was killing NE's 2ndary. LaQuan and Tandon are so crucial for the success of our passing game this year.

Doss is already so polished with his hands and route running (and he's disclosed he learned all the possible receiver positions). I'm positive he can be an impact-full third option at wide out this season. He's big and has glue for hands.

After one season you think he's in the dog house? His rookie year at that? Come on man.

Ya know what I'm looking forward to? An offensive line that's going out to beat the balls off every defense we play. I want an oline that will punch them in the face every down. I want a pack of crazed dogs on the line. I want to be able to win consistently in short yardage. I want to pound defenses up and down the field. Is it too much to ask for to have an offensive line with a mean streak and a desire to hit people?

With actual OTA's, an off season and now a season together, I am honestly excited to see the production from our offense. Flacco had just started to hit his stride with Torrey, Dickson and Pitta the 2nd half of last season. They have so much potential there for an explosive offense. Can't wait. I'm interested to see if we choose a 3rd WR or do a committee thing with Doss/Reed/Williams. I'd like to see some of Doss.

I want to see the following players:
Billy Cundiff (I am still a fan of him, injury last year, dont care what you think)
Joe Flacco (Shown how clutch he was last year, Lee Evans)
Dennis Pitta (Flacco and him connected well last year, very Todd Heap like)
Ray Lewis (Do I need to say anything?)
Ed Reed (Will he be looking for some books?)
Courtney Upshaw (How will he help our Defense)
Sam Koch (Will he ever get a Pro Bowl?, If there is one?)
Mr. Webb (His first name is to hard to spell but he is good stuff!)

I'm really excited to see Torrey Smith play. This year he could be, not just one of the most explosive deep threats in the league, but a well-rounded WR who could serve as a the number one guy for our team. He was really developing at the end of last year and working on more of his route tree, and with a full offseason and a year of experience under his belt I expect some serious production.

I'm looking forward to what an actual offseason with his receivers and a complete offensive line does for Flacco's game. And there are a lot of serious non-division games I'm excited about - at the Eagles, at Chargers, at Redskins, and vs. Broncos, Patriots, and Giants - Vick, Rivers, RGIII, The Manning brothers, and Brady. Plus at Houston with a healthy Shaub. We have a real opportunity to prove how good this team is against some of the best quarterbacks in the league, and give RGIII a bar-mitzvah as an NFL quarterback courtesy of the Ravens' defense.

Considering I thought and still think Pees will be less aggressive I think Ed Reeds picks go up and he's close to league leader. So I'm looking forward to more Ed Reed laterals and a pick 6.

Hey guys! I have a few semi-quick questions related to what I'm looking forward to and I can't start a new topic as of yet.

I'm from/in Canada and looking to attend my first Ravens game this year! Super excited I'll get a chance to see the Ray-ray dance. I'm also looking to pick up a jersey at the game! Since shipping here is a ...bad word.

Quick questions, do they sell the alternate jerseys at the stadium too? I want the black one..and do they have good stock on them? I've never been to a stadium before. And on that note is Pollard in his last year of his contract? I kind of want a Pollard black jersey...or Lewis. So tought to decide with our team of superstars.

Thanks :)

No problem. It's just annoying when people only focus on misspellings and grammar on a dang football forum. Geez, it's not like your writing a thesis!!

I would check online to get a uniform. My second choice would be to go to a sporting store around the area. My last choice would be to buy the uniform at the stadium, because what you would save in my first choice would easily cover shipping. That said, enjoy your trip to the game. Too bad we aren't playing the Toronto Bills this year. It would be much closer for you.

Ed's picks declined for 2 reasons: the hip injury and the fact that other teams try their best not to throw the ball anywhere near him.

Torrey Smith going over 1000 receiving yards. I can see it happening. He's only going to get better. Or Webby leading the NFL in interceptions.

the main thing that i want to see is our young lions get the opportunity to get involved in games so that they can gain "in-game" experience!
