Good statement. Should smooth everything over.

I appreciate honesty but the media is a game. You have to play it right.

its people like who that cause him to have to clarify it
Exactly. If he knew it would have created a stir like it did, he wouldn't have said it. Unlike people like Rex.

I'm sure John has the upmost respect for Bill B as a coach. And I'm sure he knows that those players on the Patriots played their hearts out to get those championships. All he merely said was that because of the scandal (like the Saints), there is an asterik. Because that's the nature of it.

And 95% of the time he plays the game right. Nobody's perfect, he isn't prepped for every question. He's more PC than most coaches in the league (which also drives some fans nuts).

Harbaugh went really easy on the Spygate scandal...lol...

What else can he have said when someone directly ask you about the spygate?
This is how he should have responded, "Considering the fact that I wasn't a part of the Patriots coaching staff during Spygate
or the Saints coaching staff during bounty gate, I can't comment on what went on w/ those organizations during those
times. My opinions on the subject don't matter. Ultimately, the league front office is the one who has to deal with
these situations and I'll trust that they'll do what's best for the league. Ultimately, I'm responsible for what happens
with the Ravens and I'll work within the rules to give our team the best opportunity to win a Superbowl. Next guestion"

Now Harbaugh is on the phone calling both coaches trying to explain what he meant by his comments.
Seriously, it's not like we owned the Patriots in regular season or the playoffs and we really don't need
to give them anymore bulletin board material.

Sometimes it's just best to keep your mouth shut!!
Bulletin board material is overrated. Pats fans were spouting off at the mouth how they would get revenge against Eli all year, and I'm sure their players felt the same. They had two chances to do so and it didn't mean jack.

The only people who see this as a big deal are the ignorant Bostonians who can't comprehend what was written/spoken. No surprise that Bristol spun the title to get their intelligent sport fans all worked up, but it doesn't shock me they are going crazy about it, same city who racially insulted Joel Ward for scoring game winner against Bruins and then defending Rondo for the bump. Ignorance at it's finest..

As if this isn't basically the general consensus with everyone else.
I doubt that anyone, fan or player/coach, has thought about the Pats SB runs without thinking "Would they have won without Spygate?"

From what I've read he was asked whether he has ever been tempted to cheat or not, and he responded that he wouldn't because like the patriots if he were to ever cheat his accomplishments would be viewed as tainted. At least that's what it sounded like to me.

I bet Harbs is on the phone will Bill right now to smooth this over. Bill did help him get the job, after all.
It's funny how you get neg'd for this, but you're right Harbaugh did actually call both Bill and Peyton to explain
his comments.

Per Twitter, "John Harbaugh called Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick and former Pats player turned ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi to explain his comments."

What did peak my interest though was when he was asked if any teams have tried to cheat against us before and he replied yes, I wonder who those teams were.

The whole interview in its entirety needs to be heard. It was pretty clear what Harbs was getting at... They are Tainted... Just like records in baseball..

Fat Person theory applies:

Call a fat person fat they get upset/angry. Call a thin person fat they laugh/don't care.

Call a cheater a cheater they get upset/defensive. Call a clean team a cheater they don't care.

The Patriots were/are cheaters and their Titles are tainted. Harbaugh shouldn't have to clarify things. The Patriots would still be cheating to this day if they hadn't been caught, so Harbaugh doesn't owe anyone an explanation.

Anyway, Harbaugh says cheating to achieve something always taints it, no matter the activity, or something to that effect.

Truly!!!!!

If the NFL offices had a shred of decency Belicheck would have been suspended for atleast as long as Gregg Williams. Belicheck compromised the integrity of the biggest game in sports numerous times and also during the regular season. Is it any wonder he hasn't won anything since??? Slapping him on the wrist as he mismanaged the cap was and still is to this day ridiculous.

Don't expect BSPN to say anything negative about the Pats though.
Hardbaugh you hit it right on the head, belicheck should have been suspended, nobody likes a cheat, but somehow they love the pats SMH! You right pats get to the dance and lose, karma for ya! He can hire Daniels when they play the Broncos really? What that says? The league is looking the other way for this team! Or he puts Practice players on his roster when the pats play the exact same team where he got the practice player from!!! Where is the honor of the sport and sportsmanship?

Anybody else wonder why Bruschi got so mad? He was actually raising his voice when he said that Harbs needs to learn loyalty. I think it's just because Harbs isn't drinking the BB water from the Patriots bowl. Keep being objective Harbs, just make sure to keep it to generally accepted theories all over the NFL, no saying Flaaco is the best qb in the league plz

Tough to find things to talk about I guess. Maybe they can just plug forum topics like the numbers thread although Clint pretty much got them all right

The absolute truth, I'm finding humor in the shills that write for certain websites getting almost as ticked off as bruschi about the comments.

Case in point Ian Rappoport.

Really a few missing draft picks?!? Lmao, that is a slap on the wrist, when they tried to give the saints the death penalty! SMH people co signing this it is disgusting, when we get hosed you be crying where is the justice.
Like I said, legally the Patriots would have absolutely CRUSHED the NFL if the NFL attempted to take away the Patriots trophies. The NFL had proof of one instance of video taping. The NFL acted accordingly. The Saints have MULTIPLE articles of evidence against them, even an audio tape of of their DC telling their players to basically kill guys. With the NFL's stance on player safety now how can you even be remotely surprised the NFL brought the hammer down on them?

SMH at people that think you can just go and take away 3 Super Bowl Championships like it's a refund.

Honestly it wasnt that bad, many other people have said this about the bounty
A bounty between players (not organized by the head coach and defensive coordinator) is not cheating in my eyes. I didn't view the Saints' SB as tainted after the bounty scandal, because the refs could have called roughing in those games. Only after hearing about this wiretapping of opposing coaches do I begin to think about putting an asterisk next to the Saints' SB.

All Harbaugh said was that to him cheating isn't worth it because no matter how much impact there was from it... the perception of how you achieved your goals will be tainted. How is that crossing the line? It's the truth. He wasn't trying to state that spygate actually had a big impact on why they won just that the public perception would put those two hand and hand. When you bring up the Patriots you think about spygate. Period.

He is back tracking his statements because that is the type of guy Harbaugh is. He doesn't want his statements to be taken as the Patriots success was all because of spygate and he doesn't want BB to think he is taking digs at him but I bet you he stands by what he said that he wouldn't cheat because that perception lingers.

You know what the problem is? People are just so darn stupid. Most people react to whatever they can most easily latch on to, even though it was clear that Harbaugh was saying "it's not worth it to cheat, because usually those things come out and then there is a perception that your title is tainted."

He didn't even say that he views the titles as tainted, he just said that most people consider the cheating when looking back at those titles. AND THAT IS DEFINITELY TRUE!

Teddy Bruschi goes on and on about how the Patriots had to take that perception of spygate and prove it on the field. Prove that they were a great football team without it. Prove that they could beat anyone without it. I'm wondering if he understand that he is proving exactly what Harbaugh was saying. That he wouldn't want to be in that position. He wouldn't want to have to prove how good his team is without cheating. He wouldn't want to have to defend his accomplishments/championships. Teddy if you hadn't had spygate you wouldn't have had to do any of that. You wouldn't be on there today getting offended by Harbaugh stating the obvious and going on and on about how great the Patriots organization is lol

Exactly. Harbaugh never said the players didn't work their asses off to win the championship. But Bruschi got all frantic about the topic. Why? I don't know. (But those who get uber-defensive usually have some feeling of remorse).

But yea, EVEN if the players work their butts off, its a shame that something like that can taint it. Simple. True. Shame? Yes.
