Only in the NBA have I seen everyone assuming the game is over with. The Thunder is not trying at this point, they are just conceding the game and title to them. With 2 minutes left in a Football game and your down, you go and try to catch up. So I guess in the NBA it's ok your ahead, you win, we give up.

That really bothered me too man, stranger things than a comeback in that situation have happened. The Thunder should not have pulled their starters.

So, you've never assumed a game was over before the clocks hit "0:00" at times in other sports? Let's not pretend like teams getting blown don't quit or concede defeat in some fashion in other sports.

From all of NY... Eddy Curry is a bum and should have been cut before the Finals just so he didnt get a ring. What I want to say might get me permabanned from the site so I'll leave it at that. I'm not mad at Juwan Howard though, he was a baller back in he day.
All joking aside, he did steal some serious coin from the Knicks. Agreed on Howard. Well-deserved for the "old man".

Ok yes it happens but if I'm a coach of any team, and specifically If I was the Thunder coach, I would have been throwing a tamper tantrum at my team if in the FINALS of all games, my team gave up with more than 2 minutes left on the clock in the FINALS. Hell even if it is not the finals I would be angry and I wouldn't care what the scoreboard said, I wouldn't pull starters and keep fighting until that clock hits 0:00.

You never know what would happen, they could have pulled off the comeback, but hey they gave up and we'll never know.

Backups are people too. They don't get a chance to play in the finals? You must've been rooting for OKC and are writing out of frustration because that is ridiculous to knock them for that. They might as well have walked out and bought some lotto tickets because they "could have" won the mega millions too.

Yes they are people too but you just don't do it. They are there to win the championship right? At what point do you pull the starters unless they are injured? NEVER! I'm sorry but I guess because I'm a very competitive person(apparently I have more competitiveness in my whole pinky than the entire Thunder team) but I would never stop being competitive until the clock says 0:00.

Nah not writing out of frustration but it does seem we got some Band Wagon Heat Fans on the board.

Fair enough. Considering how young his team is, the energy in the building, and how well the Heat were still playing, I understood why Brooks conceded defeat. It's tough not conceding some games during a 82-game (62 this year) schedule where your team simply doesn't have "it" on a particular night. Popovich, the best coach in the game, does it quite often.

You can't be serious. When you're winning big, or you know it's going to take a herculean effort and monumental choke (neither which looked to be on the horizon in the fourth today) for you to win, you pull your starters. It's done at some point in every sport where you can rotate players on and off the field.

So proud of my Heat! The first of many! LeBron was unreal in these playoffs, and especially the Finals.

You're forgetting about class though.

If you're in a slugfest, a close, physical game, you might get overly physical with a team and land some hits that might be questionable. Not picture someone getting in a questionable hit when the score is 60-0 (like the Colts/Saints game). Suddenly that hit has no class. When you're down by 20 and there's only a few minutes left, you really have no chance of winning, there's no reason to play like it's the opening seconds in a 0-0 game. You're sending a bad message about your team. And for the record, OKC never actually gave up. They just changed their rotation. It's not like they pulled everyone off the court and left early.

Think about it this way: If Fisher hits Lebron in the final 2 minutes, the same way he did to get called with a flagrant, his reputation would be on the line and we would be discussing it now. Sometimes you can't play the same way based on the situation, and it's not because you ran out of fight.

I'm more happy that Juwan Howard got a ring.

Yeah by doing absolutely nothing this year lol. Averaged like 1 point & 1 rebound per game haha

Watching ESPN, there was something I need to bring up. They're saying Lebron can pass Jordan because Lebron has won more playoff series than Jordan did before his first championship. Did they forget that Lebron has been in the league since he was like 12? Jordan stayed in college for three years (to play on the Olympic team I believe), so he entered the league later. And I seriously doubt Lebron will win 8 straight, which is what Jordan would have done if he didn't get bored and play baseball for a bit. Lebron isn't close to being the player Jordan was, and he will never reach that level. Give the man his credit, but man does the sports media become prisoners of the moment. That's as ridiculous as saying Ray Rice will surpass Emmitt Smith.
