Media Is Talking About The Steelers Why?

17 posts in this topic

All the talk about teams "fixing" their issues in the draft makes me chuckle every year at draft time. Yes, there are those players that will make an immediate impact on a team but they are few and far between. Most draft picks do not "fix" anything short term. Not to mention, that there are those that never make it at all.

The Steelers addressed their O line but they failed to get the bruiser back they need or a FB that they desperately need. I did joke about if all their O line picks work out, Ben won't be able to play. He'll be like, wait, I just stand here in the pocket? lol

Personally, I think they should have also picked up a project QB. They have nothing behind Ben right now and he's taken an awful lot of abuse over the years.

Don't hate. They actually had a really good draft (lucky as well).

David DeCastro fell in their laps. They never thought he was going to make it that far. When he started to drop they were even thinking about trading up a few spots to secure him. He is a instant upgrade to their line.

Then they took a flier on the top talent of Mike Adams. Something the Ravens usually do. Wait for a guy to drop that has question marks. If they keep him straight they have a great LT.

Then in Round 4, Ta'amu fell to them. Another great pickup. He'll be a force against us in the years to come.

They had a solid draft. I don't think it matters much anyway. To me, for years the difference between Ravens-Steelers has always been about one thing - they had an elite playmaking quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger, and we had nobody to counter. Flacco isn't elite yet, but in the past 2 years he's grown up to the point where he had 2 devastating comeback wins over them, thrashed them once, and had them on the ropes in the playoffs. As Flacco and this offense matures, that will make the difference to winning vs. losing the Steelers games. If the picks work out, then fixing the interior of the offensive line the way we did is huge - we might have found our answers to left guard and center long-term, meaning we have only 1 hole on this line - left tackle. With more time, Joe and the offense can make more plays - it sounds cliche, but I really have noticed that the teams who beat the Steelers have one thing in common - they ALL have quarterbacks who make plays against that defense. Remember, too, the Browns had them on the ropes with Seneca Wallace in at quarterback and then they stuck Colt McCoy in when McCoy looked like he still couldn't tell up from down.

The Steelers can fix whatever they want to - ultimately it comes down to the Ravens fixing their issues and being the better team on the field.

Honestly the only thing they fixed was their mediocre offensive line and made it way better than it ever was. They released a ton of players on defense and didn't do anything to replace them, and sure they may have drafted guys a couple years ago but we have no idea how they will perform. The only upgrade they made on their defense was Ta'amu and that was it. Their defense is going to suck this year.

Steelers fixed their Oline which has been their Achilles Heel over the past few years. Too bad their defense is still declining.

Why should we even care, we dont now until they play if they had a good. let them talk about their draft, while we can silently have the best draft class of 2012

You can't hate on them, they had some very good draftees fall to them and they were smart to grab them. DeCastro was one of the top Guards in this draft and I think Adams may have learned his leason and could turn out to be one heck of a Tackle. The Nose Tackle they grabbed is going to be a force, and may have been the best one after Poe, who was taken in first round. I really like their picks and I am a little jealous.

They had a decent draft, but the media wants to jump on it because they addressed needs with high rated players. Let them talk. All they do is talk until the Ravens sweep em again this year

I'm interested to see how DeCastro fairs against Ngata. Pouncey can't deal with him at all and can barely even push Cody on run plays. DeCastro is obviously a better player but I'm interested to see it.

So everyone else is seeing something different when they vote Pouncey to the pro-bowl?

I don't think he's discrediting Pouncey. He's just saying he struggles against Ngata. Who happens to be one of the best defensive tackles in the league (nothing to be ashamed about there). And Cody is a big boy to push in the run game. Every player (even the best) have players they struggle against.
