1. One of the biggest weaknesses last year was picking up the tough yard and moving a pile. Rice is great but he's not going to pound it in. Also yes Ravens do have a contract dispute with Rice that's hopefully over before Season

2. 3 carries for 8 yards and he's the guy? Still in the running for back up power back but the role is crucial and needed more options. 2nd RB will Impact the game next year more than a 3rd WR
We missed Willis last year. McGahee knew how to find the endzone in those short yardage downs.

This has been reported as a pretty medicore draft class. Teams had a lot of the same players on their boards. Add the new rookie deal which makes trading way more acceptable and the Ravens late draft position especially selecting behind Cinci & Pitt makes this draft a little more frustrating. Still solid picks. Decosta said it would be a depth draft but they're competitive so I'm sure they were a little frustrated that some of their guys were taken. Still think we got the steal of the draft with Upshaw. We also had a better draft than Pitt in 2011 IMO so this years draft doesn't put Pitt 'over the top'. Cinci will be interesting though.. hoping Dalton has a sophomore slump or better yet a career slump lol
I thought Cinci's draft was underwhelming considering the picks they had. They got good players, no doubt about it, but they had like 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. I wasn't too impressed by their draft as a whole.

Even though I dont feel like we had the draft we wanted, I still think we got some great players out of it.

He only had 5 TDs his last year as a Raven and at least 1 was outside of redzone
Your point? He was brought in on short yardage downs for the point I made.... he can find the endzone. The year before last year he was REALLY used in that role. He had a crazy number of touchdowns with a majority of them coming in in the redzone.

A lot of people thought they had best draft. Could have used a RB IMO though

My point is he wasn't doing it his last year. Rice also really developed without him.

Willis wanted to be a fulltime guy

If I remember correctly, it was 10 years ago in the 2002 Draft where they said everyone they wanted was gone and that they weren't even targeting Ed Reed and they "settled" for Ed Reed. Pretty sure that worked out. Sometimes even though the guys you want are taken, the guy you settle for may turn out to be better than expected so who knows while the guys they wanted may not pan out a couple years from now and the guys we took may make us Super Bowl Champs, nobody knows how any player will pan out until a couple years down the line.

Did the FO say that? Or the fans? I thought the Ravens considered Reed the BPA even though he was a safety... others didn't consider the safety position worth a first round pick.

This doesn't make me too enthusiastic about next season honestly. I guess we were due for a fallback year. This could be it.

Well let's not go that far but it would be nice to miss the playoffs and land a top prospect for once.
DeCosta saw the draft Pitt and Cincy had, they know we're falling behind.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind a top 20 pick for once.

That year I think, there was a guy who was coming down the board that they really liked (I don't know if it was the linebacker the Raiders took right before we took Ed or not), and he got picked just before the Ravens could take him, kind of like how Hightower, Mercilus, Perry, and Zeitler were taken and I'm sure we had our sights set on one if not several of them, and the Ravens took Ed because he was BPA but they didn't want or think they needed a FS at that time. They refused to reach, though, and took the highest rated player on the board. A decade later I think we're all happy with the result.

We had a better draft than Pitt in 2011.. it was bound to happen.. Pitt was in better position and players fell to them.. like us in 2011. I wouldn't say we're falling behind. I just think Decosta is a competitive guy.

Jesus, pessimistic much?

Cincy didn't really draft that well. They got several good players but for all the picks they had they didn't get very good value out of them. They're still out of their league here.

I'd mind a top 20 pick. I like being the class of the NFL.

Actually I wish we could just fail miserably the next time a can't miss prospect like Luck appears. With the rookie salary cap, some team would trade a bunch of picks to us like the Redskins did to take the guy. Then we could move all over the board, trade back all those high number 1 picks into the middle of the first round, still pick up top talent, and get a bunch of second and third round picks, too. We'd take all the best prospects in a single draft.

Too early for this [crap]. While you're bringing up reasons we're gonna suck this year might as well bring Flacco into it, it is your M.O after all.

Just because it looks like they had good drafts now, doesn't mean it will actually turn out that way. Cincy took a corner and a safety, a highly thought of tight end, and a receiver I really liked today, but one or more could bust. I actually think we got the better talent at receiver, just not as polished - Jones is basically NFL ready, but he doesn't have nearly the upside Streeter does, IMO. Pittsburgh got a wonderful guard, but he is just a guard. They got a boom-or-bust left tackle prospect that in spite of having the biggest upside in the draft, was passed on by a lot of teams, maybe for good reason.

You people are insane.
I'm just saying, if we could fleece a team the way the Rams did the Redskins, with the way our front office wheels and deals and finds steals in the draft, we could build a monster team.
