Jacoby Jones

245 posts in this topic

Jacoby was flying down the field on Thursday. He was overthrown on that one touchdown and had double coverage on him. He has done more than Lee Evans already. I'm glad to have Jacoby as our #3. He is faster than I thought by far.

All I hope is that he sees more snaps than Housh or KW did (I still can't believe we didn't try to hang on to KW after what he showed in 2009).

Well, if the preseason game is any indication, he might see plenty of action. I read an ESPN article, where Harbaugh said he wants to use more up-tempo no huddle offenses. And I am all for it. The few times our offensive scheme actually allowed Flacco to be more aggressive, he looked great. Like the Arizona game for example.

IDK, it seemed like Walker was good for a PI on every other play. Hard to be worse than handing your opponent free yards (although Ivy's inability to cover ANYTHING was kinda like handing out free plays).

No he hasn't, do you not remember Lee Evans making plays in the Preseason. I'll hold my judgement after 2 games of the regular season.

He and Flacco, still need to get their timing down. There is no use for a speedster, if he gets overthrown. Hopefully Joe manages to connect with Jacoby, the way he connected with Torrey.
It's a familiarity thing. Joe overthrew Torrey a bunch at the beginning of last season. With more practice they'll definitely get the timing down.

I can honestly say, i really hope he does. I ate my words with Torrey , ill be happy to eat them again.
Still think LQ. is just as good, Lq is fast too but not as fast as Jacoby. I know LQ has better Hands and runs routes better. Lq is more of a Slot receiver anyways, which i think would be nice to have him in the Slot with Boldin. Makes more sense. Heck, same could be said for Torrey, he is pretty big and you can tell he can get alot of Y.A.C

Everyone on here knows how much of a fan i am of him, I've been saying he is my Favorite offensive player on the Team. I don't know, i just see something in him, he really reminds me of Webb in a way. I guess i just see this Drive in him. People will see it in the upcoming preseason games.

It's really ironic that we picked up Jones after he "helped" us beat the texans in last year's PO game. I gotta believe Oz and Co. thinks that Jones can step up and become a viable third/fourth receiver and return man for the Ravens. Seems like a good gamble. If we he doesn't work out, there's a ton of options waiting, the best being LW. I see the two of them sharing duties at the start and the one that steps up and breaks out will get the bulk of the snaps the rest of the way. Adding Jones makes the WR corps all the more exciting and we may finally give us a dependable kick returner.

With Streeter and DT in the fold, it seems Doss and Reed's days as Ravens may be over, Logan Payne being be the wild card in the mix.

Question is anyone NOT have at least a little crush on the dude. From what little we have seen of him, he looks very promising. I think I saw him get hung up at the line, struggling to get off press a couple of times in Atlanta, but that's about it.

I know this is a Jacoby thread, so I'll just throw in my fan's 2 cents and say I think he'll be outstanding for us this year. He's made professional plays before, caught game winning TDs, he torched our own D during that wild game 2 years ago, and he has RETURN SKILLS (at least when he holds onto the ball).

Now for Deonte, I'm a definite fan as well - he looks like he just will go out there and make plays. He would seriously improve his chances if he had return skills. My patience has grown very short for Doss (always injured). Frankly at this point, and I know its been a small sample, but if I had to choose between this UDFA and Doss I'd pick Deonte. Ultimately we need the best playmakers on the field.

I really am not a Jacoby Jones fan, look at any of my previous posts and you'll know that. I want to see guys like Williams and Doss and Thompson given the same chances Jacoby had for years in Houston.

But that was a nice 3rd down catch in Atlanta and if he keeps working on improving those hands, I'll be on team Jones until he gives me a reason to not be. At this point, all of you guys should be thinking the same way since its obvious he's a virtual roster lock

With Jones though you can move Boldin inside permanently on 3 wide sets and let Torrey and Jones work against safeties without having to wade through the trash with LBs and zone blitzes.

I like what I've seen of him so far. Just not sure how we'll use him.
I think we got a pretty good look at what we can expect from DT during the ATL game. DT will be used to attack the safeties deep. I can see him getting some shots deep off of playaction passes.

I wanted to wait and see him in action before jumping on the bangwagon, but I really like what I saw. Much like Torrey, even if he doesn't catch deep balls, he'll draw his far share of PI calls.

I think the Ravens are really gonna utilize that short to mid area passing game to create movement and space in the secondary. There is gonna be a lot of catch and run in this offense.

Early in the season, guys like DT and LQW should really make some noise, because I don't think Pitta or Dickson will be highly effective over the first 3-5 games. I think the Ravens will work them back in slowly to make sure they are 100% and ready for the long haul.

We're just so crowded at WR though. Unless we run him with some 5 sets with Q,Torrey,Jones and Quan. Wich I would love to see more of.
