I think this pick tells us the Ravens feel Kindle will never make it in the NFL with
the type of injury he suffered. I fully expect Kindle to get cut in the preseason games time frame
If he doesn't show major improvement .

Sadly,Kindle looked better on tape then Upshaw in his college years . Much
quicker,just as physical.

Cause upshaw is like 30 lbs heavier.

If there's one position that I'm not worried about with this team and the coaching staff that comes with is the LB position (any type). When is the last time we've had a complete bust in a LB? The dude definitely lacks speed but is incredibly strong, has great arm and hand technique, and a beast on run D (which will immediately help the team as we'll play against Law Firm (x2), Lesean McCoy, Trent Richardson (x2), Arian Foster, Demarco Murray, KC's triple threat, Darren Mcfadden, Ryan Mathews, Willis McGahee, and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Think about it....With our secondary, and you have Suggs & Upshaw on both sides bull rushing, teams will make some forced throws right into our outstanding core. He's a Strongside LB specialist and won't be asked to chase done receivers in the open field...his role is very specific to pass rush/run support/ and help interfere with TEs routes.

Dude will be a beast for us...just watch.

Calm down keyboard warrior, you implied that he has no burst and I was just setting you straight. He's no JJ.

I like the pick but he does look SLOW on tape . We shall see if he has enough
NFL speed to make an impact.
He did but he was always around the ball too. I think he sheds some weight and sees and increase in burst.

Suggs and Upshaw rushing in on 3rd down, Smith and Webb on press with Williams covering the slot, Reed roaming with Pollard skull bashing, oh yea did i mention Cody and Ngata, not to mention one of my fav's 51-yet another undrafted jem.....

My god Ozzie-the only problem i see here is we're going to have way to many probowlers on our D and they are going to say we're cheating.

2012 Ravens D vs 2000 Ravens D-bring it!
I believe that Upshaw was drafted more for 1st and 2nd down then 3rd down. Kruger was successful on third down blitzing but they were concerned that he would not be as successful against the run. Upshaw on the other hand excels at setting the edge.

He's a Raven, that much is certain. Relentless hustle, toughness, and an aggressive mentality. He's faster than his 40 time indicates, 40's don't matter for OLB's/DE's.

He compared himself to Lamar Woodley, so I hope he becomes as good of a player as him. I think he will no doubt, probably better than Woodley.

As Brian Billick once said: "I don't care about his 40 time, I care about his 10 time. That's the difference between him and the quarterback."

He looks deliberate to me, not slow. But he looks strong. He's not tall but he's a big muscular guy. He uses his strength and low center of gravity more than he uses speed to pass rush and stuff the run. His weakness will be in pass coverage. We will have to protect him in pass coverage. But he reminds me of a James Harrison type.

I said Harrison but Woodley is a good comparison. I like that.

And that means that he's not like Freeney? I see a built-low-to-the ground guy with a knack for getting to the qb, and that reminds me of Freeney. He's a thick body like Woodley- I see that, too. I'd be thrilled if he turns out to be as good as either one of 'em.
In playing style, he plays like a Lamar Woodley. He does not play like a Dwight Freeney. Nor would I want him to unless he was only ever playing 3rd downs. Freeney has never been an adept run stopper.
melvin ingram, he will be stud in SD. High powered offense, put up points, teams will be passing, i wouldnt be surprised if he is up there for the sack title, provided, rivers and that offense gets back on form and doesnt miss VJ too much

Also very possible. I think any one of these guys gets DROY: Luke Kuechly, Courtney Upshaw, Melvin Ingram, and Whtiney Mercilus. I can see Mercilus get it, because I think Kuechly will lose out because he's an ILB, Ingram I think will have a hard time getting sacks against the teams he faces this year (AFC North just got really good in OL), as well as their own division. I see Mercilus being a big player on that defense and I think that translates to big sacks. I also see JJ Watt being there in front of Mercilus, helping him even more.

Mark Barron might because of how much that division passes. I'm with you though.

I doubt it. That division is going to be a mess this year.
