Mods Working Behind The Scene

Now this isnt a insult at you all before you think it is. But when yous delete posts for good reason or whatever, i really think you need to PM the person. I got a warning for reposting a post that was deleted, i didnt know it was deleted because i got no message, i thought it was the forum messing up and it didnt post, so i reposted it, and bam, get a PM saying i got a warning. I took the warning but i could have kicked up a whole row about it because i didnt know the post was deleted the first time...

Also would be nice to know what posts are deleted for so people dont make the same mistake again, I've noticed chunks of threads being wiped out lately as well as certain comments, not just mine. Some i understand why because they were OT, or they crossed a line, others im baffled as too why they were. So an explanation would be nice.

It doesnt take long to PM, copy the post and say deleted because..... Or even just edit the post delete what the person says and change it to for example... Edited because OT. So you dont actually delete the post, its just edited, and it says why so you dont have to PM.

Im not a fan of the silent assassins, im sure others arent either.

Actually, it does take considerable time to PM a poster with an explanation. If we send a brief PM, we're accused of being "rude". If we send a nice, long, polite, PM, it takes more time than we have. Also, sending the PMs pretty much guarantees that we're going to get back a profanity laden response accusing us of all sorts of "crimes". Frankly, we don't much appreciate that.

Your suggestion is a good one, but just not practical.

Could you not just edited the post that's crossed the boundaries and delete the text and replace it with. Post deleted because blah blah, like you would do it you edit part of a post like an insult at the end of a good post.

No PMs, no magically vanishing posts, and the reasons for the post being removed are there for everyone to see. That wouldn't take longer than deleting a post

Deleting a post is 1 button, [profanity deleted] means you triggered the profanity filter and the board software automatically moderates, it also does change some words we don't . Many times posts are not deleted but merged . In a time of high volume there is not time and the alleged deleted post is buried 10 pages back, as mod3 said more times then not we are cussed out, threatened and argued with and this community is too large to remember who wants what. We tend to work with the newer posters to teach them the ropes.

Way i see it, if you actually said why be it through PM or via editing the post and removing the text, you would be "cussed out, threatened and argued with" less often. Your more likely to be argued with by removing a post with no explanation than at least explaining why.. in my eyes anyway.. but well thats that suggestion binned

Oh no, you have never gotten those PMs. I have had to close my PCs lid and walk away before I threw it at the wall or unleashed myself. You can always PM whatever mod is on too. Bottom line is this place is supposed to be PG and fun for all of us

Just to reiterate some of the above posts, we don't delete or edit posts because of who posted it, we delete or edit them to comply with the board rules or to stop fights from escalating. Excessive breaking of the rules will land you a PM ... at minimum.

9 out of 10 deleted or edited posts go unnoticed by the original poster. To PM each and every one of them would be a lot of unnecessary overhead. We do not have a large staff and we are not compensated at all, we all volunteer. We do our best to keep things running smoothly without giving up our lives :)
