Who's our #2 QB? I've been outspoken in my support for Tyrod Taylor as our #2 QB, he reminds me a lot of a young Mike Vick.. I know all black/mobile QB's get the automatic Mike Vick comparison but I genuienely mean it.

Painter isn't a bad depth signing in my opinion.. but I can't tell if the Ravens brought him in with the intentions of being our #3 QB, battling for the # 2 spot with tyrod, or as the favorite ahead of Tyrod on the depth chart since he got so much regular season starting time last year.

Who do you think sould be the #2 QB come week 1? There's legitimate cases going each way.

Tyrod:
- Has a year in the Ravens system under his belt
- Strong showing last Pre-Season
- Mobile/Can make plays with his feet
- Younger with more overall upside/potential than Painter

Painter:
- Started 9 games with the Colts last year (Although I don't think they won a game until Orlovsky took over for him, take the starting experience for what it is)
-Familiarity with QB Coach Jim Caldwell
- Better pocket passer then Tyrod
- What you see is what you get (With Tyrod you really don't know what to expect until he starts playing)

it wasn't me... lol
jokes aside, i would let him give tyrod a ride for 2nd in training camp though. nothing should be set in stone and harbs said that it applies to tyrod too. now if only we would get joe signed to get some cap space and shut his doubters a leetle bit

I voted Tyrod and expect him to surpass Painter in the camp; if he doesn't, he's not ready for NFL.

Is this seriously a poll? If Tyrod comes out and dedicates himself to improving as he is already doing as of Monday, no way he loses the #2 job

Taylor easily. Painter was brought here to light a fire under Tyrod so he can compete against someone so that way Joe has to compete as well. The truth is, I don't see any true competition. Tyrod and Flacco will be our only 2 QBs on the 53. I do think we get a UDFA as a practice squad guy.

We've seen what Painter has to offer when he gets on the field. There is little upside.

Tyrod is an unknown factor who has been learning this system. He should be the primary backup unless another better option presents itself.

Tyrod hands down. He is young, has the athleticism and the speed to be more than just a pocket passer, and was very solid in the limited preseason action we saw him in last year. After [s]laughing at[/s] watching Painter last year, I dont even want to think of him as our #2 QB. Luckily, its Tyrod's spot to lose. He's the #2 right now.

I'll let the coaches decide this one after training camp. Taylor deserves to start out as #2. He brings mobility to the QB position and has a decent arm. I'd rather have seen Dixon as the #3 than Painter, but I don't know what went on behind the scenes at the castle. I'm sure money was the deciding factor.

It's Tyrod Taylor and its never been in question, the coaches have done nothing but praise the kid. He impressed me with his poise and playmaking ability last year, Painter was brought in to push him and make sure he doesn't get comfortable and as an extra arm...nothing more, nothing less

Whoever beats out the other. Tyrod obviously has the edge, but if Painter proves better than him over the course of the offseason, then why wouldn't it be Painter?

Everyone will compete but Tyrod Taylor looks absolutely fantastic so far. Painter is a good cheap pick-up for 3rd string/Camp QB.

are we serious with this poll? Taylor!! and, he is a great "pocket-passer!" for all you cats that think other wise go back and look as his gamefilm from his past 2 years at Virginia Tech. he as the "ability" to run so, when he has to...he does! every smart QB should. however, when he begins to scramble (unless he has a chance of gaining yards on the ground with his legs)...he is constantly looking down field to throw the ball. here's 2 quick cases and points of that fact:

I think everyone knows that Flacco should be the backup quarterback, unless they want to put on the practice squad where he really belongs. Why isn't that an option?

Didn't Painter set some sort of record for interceptions this year?
No, but he probably would've if he had played more than nine games... and he did throw more interceptions (9) than touchdowns (6), thats definitely a less-than-flattering statistic.

Painter needs a check so why not keep him around for the exhibition season.
Im sure he will be around through the preseason, seeing how we did the same with Hunter Cantwell last season. I expect Painter to be one of the final cuts.
