I would not be against this. Obviously not to have a chance at being a starter, but it's dangerous to have only Joe and Tyrod.

Agreed. We are going to need bodies for camp. I for one would prefer to have one that has experience as a starter, is cheap and knows his place when camp comes around. Dennis Dixon fails the knows his place rule. Painter doesn't have winning experience. Boller seems as good as an option for a 3rd string QB.

Don't know why everybody is acting like he'll actually see the field on game day. We'll we probably won't even carry 3 guys into the season.

Boller I can somewhat get, we'll need a third camp arm and I really don't see us finding a better 3rd stringer, plus since Kyle is a vet with game experience, I think he would push Tyrod to get even better and solidify his grip on the backup job. Tyrod is already better than Dixon and Painter and has better upside than both in my opinion too, so can't say I understand bringing them in for workouts, I'd rather take Boller's experience in an absolute emergency than Dixon's 125 passing yards per game and Painter's, well we'll just leave Curtis alone on that, haha

I am thinking Flacco might miss some practice time with the birth of his child, so this is a "camp arm" to take some of the pressure off TT, although I think Caldwell would have done just as good for a camp arm since he would be the freshest with the playbook.

I am surprised this is such a big deal. He won't make the team. Just a camp body for Tyrod to compete against to push him. I see Taylor and Flacco as the only QBs on this team when the season begins.

I understand the need for an extra camp body QB but I really wouldn't have expected us to kick the tyres on Boller. We know more than any one else that he's not a viable option to carry around in the season.

i don't think we'll take 3 qbs into the season, but for camp with joe due to miss some time in june-july, as Grapple Raven said above, well it makes sense to get somebody in... cheaper as possible and team-player not a prima donna too

I just don't get it, unless they're either not happy with tyrod, wanting another camp qb, or looking to potentially trade him (unlikely though)

Kyle would actually make a good camp arm substitute for Flacco. They're similar size with strong arms. I expect Tyrod will be spending time working on "Suggs Package" plays and we'll need someone to give Joe a breather now and then.

Im not so sure I agree with you. Why would we limit tyrod to the suggs package. I think tyrod will be running the entire offense. I do agree that Boller would be another arm tho, we usually carry atleast 3 QB's during ota's and mini camps. Ravens brass is on record stating their confidence in Tyrod's ability to be the backup, and he will only get better having an actual off season. I really think this is all about bringing in Boller (if they sign him), cause hes familiar with the offense and could provide that extra arm throughout camp with minimal time spent on teaching a new QB the playbook. Pretty sure its about efficiency. I actually love the thought of bringing in Dixon tho. Hes a talented kid and an added benefit would be his knowledge of the steelers offense.

Ok I misunderstood you, I apologize. And I agree Tyrod can be a huge weapon for us if Cam broadens his horizons like he did joe's first year with Troy Smith. Would LOVEEEEEEEE to see a 40+ yard TD pass from Taylor to Flacco, or vica versa!! As far as goal line with Tyrod, I could see it happening a few times this year.

That's pretty trivial. Flacco and Boller were around each other during the '08 off-season, and Joe went on to have a pretty good rookie season.
