Ray Rice Potential Holdout

157 posts in this topic

I think that's what made the statement from Rice that he was worth Peterson money different than the one from Flacco that he is the best QB in the NFL. Flacco never said that he wanted to get paid like the best, but Rice did. I don't think that we will re-sign them both. I have a bad feeling about this. I'd much rather have an experience, young QB than a great RB in this passing league.

It's certainly possible. Personally, I like Doug Martin, Chris Rainey, and Isaiah Pead as RBs for our team. I am really high on Martin. I think he will be the next Ray Rice. If he is there with our 2nd round pick I would seriously consider him and might even trade Rice for some great picks. That's how much I like Doug Martin.

It won't happen, though. Lol. Just a pipedream.
Understanding that you're just dreaming here, but trading Rice isn't possible until he signs him Franchise tender.

That said, we only have to go back to 2007 to see Ozzie draft a RB early, while having a RB coming off of a 1300+ season. Back then, it seemed a bit odd that they would draft Ray Rice in the 2nd round, while they had McGahee entering the 2nd year of a 7-year deal - but thankfully, they did.

I'm not expecting them to go RB in the 2nd, but could see it happen in the 3rd or 4th if there's a guy there that they like.

If they don't draft a RB until late - or at all - I would expect to see them sign a veteran RB after the draft to come in and compete with Allen, Berry and a rookie (drafted or undrafted).

I think Allen could be a featured back in this league. He has the size and strength to do it and has some good speed. I did see him show some ability to receive as well, which is very nice.

Yeah. Just think of the watercooler joke material that having Pees and Peed on the team would generate.

I know, and I know you realize that. Lol. It is just a dream. The only reason I am for it is because I am very, very impressed by Doug Martin. I don't like drafting RBs early because of how devalued they are now. With that said, if Martin was there in the 2nd he would be BPA for me regardless of who is there. I see Martin as a very, very special player. I am constantly reminded of Ray Rice whenever I watch him. I am pretty sure we won't draft him, but I will be jealous of the team that does.

With that said, I really do hope Allen and Berry look great out there on the field and make Rice (or his agent) change their stance on the money.

Rice has a lot of room to improve, but i think we have yet to see his full potential.
In the NFL the run game is the first thing decent defenses take away. That's why a good OL is so important - and the Ravens don't really have one. The Texans pushed the Ravens OL around like they were a mediocre college team. The Texans said they made stopping RIce their #1 focus abd the Ravens OL made it easy. They were pushed back off the line all game. In short, they were owned big time.A lesser back who couldn't catch and run like RIce would have a worse time of things. Rice makes mnore receptions than many teams WRs.

This does not concern me, we had a lockout last year and Rice is workout warrior and came in great shape and had a great year ....minus the playoffs

He will be ready to go no matter when he signs his franchise tag or gets his new deal signed.

No worries

Although in 2011, Ray Rice has had the best season of his 4 year career thusfar, it's obvious that a lot of teams we faced have zeroes in on Ray and that's why he doesn't look as flashy or breakout big runs like he has in the past. Teams shut down Ray and our run game, and yet our passing game suffers
