Ravens "clutch" Moments

35 posts in this topic

i just finished watcing NFL Networks "What is Clutch?" segment. And, of course, there was not one Raven moment. So, let's praise ourselves (as always) and post or mention one your favorite "Clutch" moment by our Ravens.

Ray Lewis Silences the Titans....

Joe Flacco leading us 92 yards down field to win it in Heinz was amazing.

Another memorable one was in 2006 vs the Chargers. McNair leads us down, and Todd Heap catches a pass at about the 5 yard line and rumbles into the end zone for the game winner with about 30 seconds left. I was at this game, and the stadium was crazy!!

Good topic, Mili. Just from 2011, off my head:

92 yard GW drive against the Steelers, of course.

Dennis Pitta's clutchness (no really video of all his third down grabs, but this one in the pre-season was nice)

Biggest comeback in Ravens history against the Cardinals - including Flacco to Smith to set up the FG

Ed Reed 4th quarter interception and game sealing deflection

Terrell Suggs three second-half sacks against 49ers, INT against Steelers, 3 sacks against Steelers

Pernell McPhee 4th down game sealing sack

Lardarius Webb's whole year

And let's give Tyrod a mention for his drive against the Redskins

Probably a few more too but those are the ones that come to mind.

This one's a bit grainy. Joe to TJ, 2010. If only these guys could do it in the postseason.

Texans last year though it shouldnt have come to it. Wilsons pick six in OT. Funny thing about this game was I sort of called what would happen. I said I hope we got ball first(which we did), would have to punt(which we did) and that Ed Reed would come through with a pick 6 to end it(which Josh Wilson did). My goal was to hope Cam would be fired after the offense with a 21 point lead produced NOTHING in the 2nd half which was a common theme last year.

This reminds ne, I really wish and even last year that we had kept Wilson, especially after I saw Carr get about the same deal we game him. Webb, Smith and Wilson at nickel I feel is a definite upgrade over Williams. What Wilson lacked in size he made up for in playmaking ability.

Wow great topic. There are so many to pick from, unfortunately all of my Clutch Moments didn't result in wins. I'm keep this post in the Flacco era.

2008 Divisional playoffs. Chris Johnson and the Titans had our defense on the ropes early. Young Flacco connects with Mason for a deep TD. Then the defense had clutch turnovers and finally with the game on the line, on the road against the #1 seed and #1 defense, Flacco hits Heap to setup the game winning FG. Of course Money Matt made the kick.

2009 Flacco led a comeback against a really good Vikings team, out-dueling the great Brett Favre. Making clutch throws on the final drive to set up the game winning FG.

Much like the AFCCG, in 2009 Flacco play as good if not out-dueling Brady. Down by 4 Flacco made the clutch throws needed to win the game, but a couple drops by Clayton hurt. Flacco was Clutch, one of his teammates weren't.

2010 Flacco again had us in position to have a comeback win, with a Clutch 4th quarter vs the Falcons.

On the road against the Steelers the last 3 years, Flacco had clutch moments in the regular season matchups.

Ray Lewis 4th down hit on Sparoles to end the game in SD.

Josh Wilson's int for a TD in OT to end the Texans game.

Webb's punt return for a TD in the Steelers playoff game that was called by, Clutch.

The regular season Texans game this year. After the Texans took the lead, Flacco & Torrey/Q connects on 50 yard plays on back to back drives to put us in position to gain control of the game.

Jimmy Smith's int in the endzone of the Championship and his Int in the Bengals game. Both came when we needed a play.

Pitta in the SF game.

The offense line dominating the Redskins on 10 straight running plays before the play-action TD to Mason to seal the game.

McClain and McGahee back to back 50+ yard TDs to seal the Cowboys game.

There are so many more over the years.

Paul Kruger OT interception vs the Steelers on Sunday Night.

Trent Dilfer game winning drive in Tennessee in the regular season.

Flacco's game winning drive in that stadium his rookie season in the playoffs, including a huge third down conversion to Heap.

McNairs comeback in Tennessee his first year with us.

Man, we've made the Titans miserable over the years, LOL.

Corey Redding interception to seal the game against the Saints.

Flacco to Rice for a huge fourth down conversion against the Steelers on Sunday Night, the same game as Krugers pick.

Ed Reeds first interception against the Steelers last year, which essentially sealed that game.

Flacco to Boldin for a 27 yard TD on third down in the fourth quarter against the Browns in 2010. We were on the edge of FG range and that TD pass gave us the lead.

Flacco to Clayton for a 31 yard TD on third down against the Chiefs to give us the lead late in the game.

McGahee and McClains long TD runs.

Suggs' strip of Gresham in the season finale last year, followed by Rices 51 yard TD run.

So many. Helluva topic.

I wanted to out he Vikings and Falcons games on mine but left em off off cause of the L. To me, if Steve aka Mr Wide Left had done his job that game might have given this team a huge boost mentally. That was one of my favorite games considering how poorly we played early on. It's sort of like the Cardinals game but against a much better team.

JJ's hit on Hines Ward, and later Ray Lewis' hit on Ward. I think both of those moments help Ward "clutch" his retirement!

Also loved Haloti Ngata's sack on Sanchez on MNF with the Jets, and Dustin Keller almost laying down at the threat of another hit from Ray Lewis, talk about intimidation...that was priceless!

Clutch moment, one of my favorites....Joe's TD throw to Torrey in Pittsburgh to win at the end of the game..

Also, Joe throwing the TD game winning pass to TJ in Pittsburgh the year before.

Even though this wasn't in a win Joe's play in the 2nd half in Atlanta a few years ago, he threw 3 2nd half TDs and gave us the lead which the defense surrendered.

This year against the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans, Joe made huge plays and brought us back to win.

in the playoffs against the Chiefs last year, no run game, no WRs getting open for Joe, he picks them apart going down the middle of the field to Todd Heap....we win the game

Joe is clutch

There have been many clutch moments in Ravens history, but in my opinion, the greatest was Ray's strip of Eddie George and TD to seal the game. Everytime I see that play I get shivers down my spine. It's unbelievable. It's a legend.

That play Ray had against the Chargers a couple years back. Sproles gets the handoff, Ray stays in the pulling Guards back pocket and throws Sproles for a loss. On 4th down by the way. One of my favorite moments on Ravens history!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!

you're either talking about webb or jimmy's int or reeds pass breakup because reed didn't get a pick in that game.

So many

I'm going with Boldin's performance this season against the Cardinals and the huge comeback

Of course Q wasn't on his own and the others pulled together and performed but he comes in for special mention that game in my opinion

As corny as this may sound in a thread like this, I still smile watching Suggs immediately go to consult Schaub after he threw the game ending pick six to Wilson. Class.
