[Blogs] ‘No Problem’ With Lardarius Webb Returning Punts

68 posts in this topic

This man did not allow a passing touchdown last year. if we need him to do that again we need him to concentrate on defense not special teams, where alot of players get hurt.

Webb should definitely not be on special teams moving forward, I'm sure the Ravens will draft someone or bring in someone else to do this

Joe Adams. WR/KR 4 year career at Arkansas 164 receptions, 2,410 yards, and 17 touchdowns. As a PUNT return man, between his junior and senior seasons, Joe Adams had 62 returns for 570 yards and 5 TDs. Mid rounder? Round 4: No. 130 (compensatory) or Round 5: No. 169 (compensatory)

You just signed L Webb to be your starting corner for six years. It's not about playing scared, it's about playing smart. No more punt returns for the "Spider". Keep looking.....Look harder.

I don't know why no one is talking about Phillip Livas who we signed in January. If you look at our roster only Livas and Reed are considered a WR/RS. We should at least give the kid a shot... He ran 4.43 in the 40 plus he is cheap!!!!

I can understand both angles. Yes, Webby is a playmaker as a returner, but of course its risky to play him on special teams when he is such a key part of our defense. I would prefer to draft someone like Joe Adams, T.Y. Hilton, or Marquis Maze to take this role.

What is Hargaugh NOT ok with? If Bisciotti were to tell Harbaugh that as of tomorrow he'll be coaching for the Steelers I guess he'd be ok with that too. He's ok with every damn thing. If I see Lardarius return one punt this year Harbaughs gonna need to be ok with my foot in his rectum.

Damien Berry, Tandon Doss, Laquan Williams all can run back there. Draft has a lot of freak athletes, I like Maze cause he can be a weapon on offense too. Rainey would be awesome to have a really BEAST running back combo. We need another BJ Sams..

WE need to draft someone , or use anyone else ,,,,,,not ed reed poor ed is getting beat up this week enough . I agree with harbaugh being a yes man , if you said John the sky is purple today he would say i agree with that .we have enough good players on the practice squad or in depth chart or draft no webb for returns

Nooooo.... we have to get someone else to return kicks maybe Laquan Williams or Phillip Livas. We need Webb every game. He can't get injured.

Patrick Peterson return punts and starts at corner but he's a much bigger dude.
Either D. Reed or draft a big body fast guy. We almost have 3 shutdown corners in Webb, Smith and Williams, dont let them get injuried unneccesarily. Probably our best secondary since 2000.

Harbs, can you name another starting Corner in this league who returns punts?

NO! You Can't
[/quote]

Patrick Peterson does. And going back a few years, a couple of guys you may have heard of named Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson were pretty good at it. That's just off the top of my head; I'm sure if I thought about it some more, I'd come up with some more names...

What is going on with this site? I had a comment yesterday that had over 30 on it and today it's back at 0. Is managment erasing our opinions so no one will know how the fans really feel. I dont care about the or - but it lets us all know how the group mentality is. Shame on you!

no comment.. If Webb wants to return punts because he feels he can get good field position for the team then Im behind him. I just hope the team has a backup plan just in case someone goes for his knees.

It isn't hard to find a speedy guy to return kicks for a good price. Why use our starting cornerback. And I could care less about what Patrick Peterson or Woodson did in there career, that has nothing to do with us. You best believe that if opposing teams see Webb returning kicks they will try to get a good hit on him to mess up his game.

we need another Yamon Figurs

Yes, or a Germaine Lewis, sans the alcohol abuse issues!

Webb ain't scared to return punts but the reasonong for having the linchpin of your CB Corps playing Special Teams is as ludicris as having a timeout in your pocket and rushing a FG that may send you to the SB!
