This is how his contract breaks down according to Aaron Wilson who, according to Webb's agent, had the scoop...

http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/sporravenravens-lardarius-webb-agrees-to-five-year-million-extension/article_e05d6dca-7f22-11e1-9246-0019bb2963f4.html

It seems like he earns his tendered money this season and then this contract comes into play in 2013.

SUPER excited about this. I have been a Webb fan since his rookie season. He is a total class act and a heck of a good player. I am thrilled he is going to be a RAVEN for a long time.

Time to go jersey shopping.

Stole from Bmore Ravor

Based on the reports so far, it appears to be 6/$50M, so average of $8.333M

His 2012 Cap number is $2.615M, a reduction of $127K from what he was counting under the RFA tender.

The $2.165M represents a base salary of the veteran minimum (for a player with 3 years of service time) of $615K and $2M in signing bonus proration ($10M/5 years).

Webb is the biggest playmaker in our secondary at this point, and I cant say enough about how big this is for us. I mean just look at my avatar and that is reason enough for us to sign him long term (Webb robbing AJ).

Webb, Jimmy Smith, Ed Reed and Pollard in our secondary. Talk about pick your poison.
Don't forget about Williams and Brown too. We not only have a good secondary but our depth is looking good too.

This is great news for the Ravens and Webb. Webb played lights out last year and its only the start.

I don't think this effects Cary at all. He'll probably be extended to a 4 year deal. He played really well last year but it was his first year as a starter and still has a lot of growing to do.

I don't think this effects Ed Reed one bit. The Ravens would have either been willing to pay him big time or not, regardless of Webbs deal. I think Ed will get a contract much like Ray got 3 years ago that will allow him to retire a Raven.

If for whatever reason Reed isn't hear next year, I think Webb would take over that FA position and as a college Safety he'll probably thrive.

Webb is already a great player imo, with the potential to be one of the game's best. However he might end up being the 2nd or 3rd best CB on our team with the physical abilities of Cary and Jimmy. That's really making a statement in our secondary.

In Ozzie We Trust!!! The secondary has been a problem area since CMac left and now it looks like now we could have one of the best in the NFL. I can only hope Ozzie works his magic the same way with the Oline.

Perfect, we have him until he's 32 which is the perfect age for him to transition to FS. I love the kid, great tackler, great ball skills, great speed, and unbelievable versatility.

Awesome news, man they are going to have to PAY Rice, looks like his number just went up?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand how Rice's number went up? I'm not being sarcastic, either. I really just don't understand how it went up after Webb was extended five years.

Webb isn't going to move to safety, even if Ed is gone. Maybe 3-4 years down the road, but right now he is a premier player at one of the most important positions on the field. It would be foolish to move him to safety. The only way I could see that happening is if Jimmy and Cary all of a sudden morph into Nnamdi and Revis.

As for Ed, I would love to see him stay on as a Raven for another couple years, but he seems to want to get paid and I don't see the FO handing out a lot of money to a declining player, no matter how much he means to the Franchise. If he would be willing to take a cap friendly deal like Ray and play until he retires a Raven that would be great, but from what Steve said and from what Ed said about "respect" recently it seems somewhat unlikely.

I know this is a Webb thread, but I just want to say something about Ed Reed and him returning.

I don't think Ed Reed (after listening to the interview, finally) is saying he wants big money to remain with the Ravens. I think he is saying that he wants to be given a longer contract with a reasonable pay, not some deal where it's unfair to him. He wants respect. He deserves it, honestly. Ed Reed is very important to this franchise.

I don't think it's impossible to keep Reed. I think it's doable. We won't be able to keep Williams and Reed, though. I highly doubt that will happen.

Finally got some good news in the off-season. If Jimmy Smith keeps coming along, and he had some great flashes last season, we are going to have one of the best secondaries in the league in the next couple of years.

I've said it forever now.... but Webb is like Charles Woodson in a way. He can play any position in the secondary. He is a game changer. A great tackler. Probably would be at his best to just free lance as a DB and come up with the big play. Extremely excited to have him for 6 more years to beast it up.
