Great Ed Reed Interview

102 posts in this topic

i think we could resign him for another 4 years. you can play a long time at FS. look at harper or weaponX. they were a lot older. even woodson played well into his thirties. ed should´t go anywhere. he is a true raven.

it seems like he is a little feared that people might forget what he did for us after his average season (only stats wise).
there was a lot of talk about him last year in the offseason. maybe he just wants himself being a daily topic.

whatever it is. i want him to be a raven for life. he is like ray lewis for us. cannot imagine seeing him playing in a different uniform...

Yanda was a free agent who explored what other teams had to offer before returning to the Ravens. Ngata was franchised last year and we worked out a new contract.

The only two players I can remember getting an extension worked out before their time was Webb and Flacco, of whom only one got their deal as of now.

I'm not sure what your point is there.

Webb is an rfa so he wasn't giving a contract before his expired and baltimore has tried to extend ed previously so its false to say baltimore said no. lets not also forget that ray lewis was able to hit fa but elected to not negotiate with any other team

Seriously? id much rather us get a ring than a player that thought he deserved more money but didnt get it from us because we dont beleive he does....i dont think he does. if he wants a ring he knows where to stay....

I look at it like this, if we don't win it all this year and Ed leaves he'll have 2 maybe 3 years to get a ring with another team while the Ravens will have until the end of time.

I love Ed too much to cheer against him in his last chance to get his ring and complete his career. We'd have plenty of chances to win the Super Bowl again, Ed, not so much. Hopefully we wouldn't turn into the Lions though.

Wow. I dont believe everyone on these forums stand up for a certain other player like he's god, but when it comes to the great Ed Reed, everyone entertains the idea of getting rid of him?
Man he opens his mouth a lot lately sure, but a lot of people listen and for good reason. There aren't too many other safeties like him left, and i dont see too many being bred from college/high school. We know he is older and more injury prone but he still has a tank half full, and id be damned if he'd be playing somewhere else picking off QB's for 106 yard TD returns...

One thing is for sure that Ed doesn't get as many tackles or INT's like the Ed of old it's because people finally realized how to work around him. Hence the upcoming of Webb/Cary..

Reed is old and declining, Flacco is young and constantly improving. Really simple logic.

Not to say I want to get rid of him, but it's certainly a path we may cross. He's old, declining, and not worth the money that he wants.

I understand what your saying...but i just cant fathom the idea of wanting another team to win the superbowl if we are playing in it. Obviously i can understand if we werent in the game at all. I want suggs, ngata and webb to have a ring too...Even with all our talent its not a lock that any of them will get a ring. SB appearances are so few and far in between...no way id pass up that trophy

I can never cheer against the Ravens, even if it is for Reed. Now, if we've been eliminated from the Super Bowl race that's a different story.

As Ray Lewis says, when you are on the other side of the field you are the enemy. As much as I love Reed and I do, if he left us I would have to cheer against him.

I think this is all hyperbole, though. I think Reed is going to stay. I think we give him another contract next year.

I love Ed Reed. I'm still an Ed Reed fan to this day but his act is starting to wear thin with me. He always seems to think he deserves something extra. I appreciate what he did and still does for this team but his NFL days are coming closer to an end. I'd prefer to cut him loose a season or 2 early than to have him be a cap hit for a few more seasons with declining production.

This is a little harsh, but I agree.

Ed Reed is a legend. And the Ravens give him tons of respect. What other player(other than Ray)would be kept in the lineup after pulling hits and pitifully missing arm tackles. They stuck with him giving Ed the benefit of the doubt.

I have always been a huge Ed Reed fan as well and I hope he retires a Raven. But now is not a time to be asking for more $. He looks increasingly fragile each year and his injuries are mounting. Let him play a full year to the top of his abilites, then he can look for another payday.

It is harsh, no doubt. Just as the NFL is a harsh business. That's the way I approach being a NFL fan. I support the Ravens players 100% but I also try to seperate my fanhood from the business side of things and look at it logically.

That is the key right there! Fandom seperated from business! I am a fan of many Ravens players but at the end of the day what is in the best interest of the team as a whole is most important.
