I understand where Ed is coming from, I think the Ravens should extend his deal by 2 years or whatever, give him a lil more money and spread it out if he wants to play for a few more years.

He still has a great impact on how teams attack our secondary, Tom Brady still has Find #20 on every play on his wrist band...just because his INT total dropped doesn't mean he can't make those plays, the year before he led the league and only played a limited amount of games. Teams just don't want to throw toward him if they can avoid it

I'm not too worried, I think Ed Reed will be a Raven until he retires, Ozzie and the Front Office are good at keeping our 'legacy' players in Ravens uniforms. Now unless Reed's play really drops off and its unrealistic to keep him...I don't see him going anywhere, he will be playin in 2012 and beyond if he wants to and can play at a high level

But this issue does worry me a little, but only from the point of what this talk of contracts and money does in relation to the chemistry of the locker room. Ed alluded to younger players getting paid more money, and with Webby's contract getting done today, and Williams' contract still looming, it does make you wonder if that isn't where the non-respect factor comes in. If I am not mistaken, Pollard's contract comes up for neogiations next year too doesn't it? I just hope cool heads will prevail!!

Oh, Lord, as I am writing this, I heard that NFL has a story on this in a few minutes that starts our with the sentence "Ed Reed feels disrespected, what is his value to the Ravens"...here we go!

I might be of a different mindset from most idk, but I would much rather we not air our laundry in public. I don't feel this is good for the chemistry of the team as a whole.

You're right. Both of our starting safeties have their contracts up next year and we have Considine & Livas behind them. Lol. Makes you feel warm & fuzzy, doesn't it?

I hope we can extend Reed. I would take Reed over Pollard every day. I hope we can retain both, though. I hope we wait on Williams, personally. I'm not really sold on him yet.

chances are we are drafting a Safety in the draft...I doubt we can keep both Pollard and Reed when both their contracts are up

watch Ed have a huge year next year and really force the Ravens into a tough decision, he said he isnt trying to break the bank, he knows he's not at the top of his game at this point especially with the injuries, thats why I say bump his pay up over the next 2 years in a new deal

If Ed has a solid season this up and coming season and he shows he still has a lot left in his tank and I suspect he will with the new system we will have under place in Peas and him being able to freelance more with better play from our CBs, he will get paid.

If he he shows his age ( father time has caught up to him ) and the wear and tear on his body becomes worse, he won't get paid like he expects to, simple as that.

I feel its clear, cut, and dry on him getting paid or not and I feel he will get paid and he wil receive a contract that will let him retire a Raven.

True. I can't remember which week but I think fairly early in the season he reaggrivated the shoulder injury making a tackle someone else had whiffed. Up until that point I remember him wrapping up and for the most part laying the wood*Pause*. I think he can play another 2-3 years at a high level. You gotta show the younger guys you take care of the vets, especially if they are respected in the locker room and still producing. Above all else.... WE CANNOT TEAM HIM UP WITH THE HOODIE!

pretty weak by reed, he has already made roughly 46 million from the ravens in his career and is currently making 7.2 million this year, it shouldn't be all about money as your career ends, winning the big one should be the most important.

Ed didn't seem too upset with the Ravens to me after listening to that. But if wanting a big contract puts the chip on his shoulder next season, I'm all for it.

Being on the Ravens defense helps but guys like Ed Reed are what make the Ravens D what it is...I don't think Ed will go anywhere else, I hope not anyway

It doesn't matter if he's a HOFer, no one player comes before the team. If he starts to become a cancer or his play falls off a cliff then we cut him and move on, in the meantime try and clear up some cap and make him happy.

We are living in cap Hell, are trying to sign Flacco/Rice and heading into the draft. Sometimes, I think what Reed means and the way he says things manage to be miles apart too. I'm hoping it was only his intent to put a bug into the FO's ear that he wants an extension sometime before his contract runs out.

Is a great mentor and a guy people view as an extra coach.

The player side with age and recent health issues doesn't deservr the long term he,wants. Especially if every yr you, and not the media, initiate retirement talks.

Pr standpoint, legacy standpoint, abilities and leadership you still want him for 3 more yrs.
