I really like Cary, especially considering his size and physicality. He's lovely as a nickel

I love him as a #3 but not so much as a nickel, ya know? I feel like he's best suited on the outside.
You're correct. The position is called nickelback because the 3rd corner is the 5th DB on the field in those formations. Correct me if I'm wrong Raven, but what I believe Raven was getting at is that Cary is just better suited on the outside. So in situations where there are 3 WRs on the field Cary could take one of the outside guys and either Webb or Jimmy could pair up with the slot guy. We all know Webby is excellent at nickel and on teams like the Patriots where their #1 WR is a slot guy like Welker, Webb will be on him anyway. That of course leaves a vacancy at either LCB or RCB for Cary to fill.

Exactly. If we came out in a nickel, I'd prefer for Webb to slide inside and Cary and Jimmy to play on the outside.

Ah, makes a ton of sense. Webb's quickness is more suited for the nickel position, whereas Cary is a physical guy who is better served manning up with the bigger wideouts on the edges, using his size to throw those guys off their routes. Putting him on a Welker would be a faulty use of his skill set.

I learned something today :)!

Let the coaches decide where the players line up. If it's Reid or Oher at guard or Williams at nickle, then so be it.

I can vouch for this. Britt was Foxy's daddy, and VJax definitely gave Jimmy a "welcome to the NFL" Cary did very well in those games.

Cary was great. The only times he really got beat were by fast guys going deep. I'd take Cary over most CBs in the lague.

Cary got beat a few times in SD as well, it wasnt just Jimmy getting abused. He also let Jerome Simpson have a massive game. Overall, Cary played quite well but one thing that dissapoints is his lack of ball-skills. He made a lot of nice breaks on balls and probably should have had 3-4 Ints, but he dropped them for whatever reason.

Jimmy had 3 Ints last year in probably half the snaps that Cary saw. He is also more athletic and really came on strong towards the end of the season, so I would say he definitely has more upside than Cary. They will battle it out for that #2 CB spot next season, but I would think Jimmy will come out with the starting spot.
I don't think there is a doubt in any of our minds that Jimmy and Webb are the starters in the very near future. Cary is just a great #3 with size, upside, and starting experience.
