Three of the Ravens D-line is ranked in the top 64 D-linemen in the NFL

Mt. Cody is ranked 57

Pernell McPhee is ranked in top 15, and the guy isnt even our starter. What a beast!!

Ngata is ranked, well I think everyone knows where hes ranked

I know Suggs was #3 for DEs. Redding and Kruger also made the list. I don't put much stock in the BR lists though, but it is entertaining to read through.

ahaha when I saw Suh out of the Top ten, i started laughing. Theres no way in hell Geno Atkins is the second best D-linemen in the NFL. He's really good but I dont think he's that good. Maybe Mcphhe will be the next Geno atkins, afterall they were both mid round picks.

I'd say Justin Smith is probably the 2nd best, but Geno Atkins is in the conversation. He was really dominant last season.

Bleacher Report always makes me laugh. Sometimes they nail it other times they stink it up. I believe they ranked Oher in the top 10 right tackles.

Here's some legitimate news on the d-line. According to Harbaugh, Cody has been working out at the team's HQ daily since the season ended. That whole article was a nice read - a lot of positive things when it seems like all I keep hearing about the last few days are negative ones. Thanks.

The draft looks good for lineman I think Ozzie should pull the strings in the 1st round slugger...
[/quote]

No. Dline is not nearly enough of a need to spend a first rounder on one.

Agreed. Though if we do draft a D-lineman in the 1st, I'll have Ngata and Sizzle-sized expectations for him. We can find quality in the leftover bin of the late rounds.

As for the article, I think 57 is way too high for Cody. He probably shouldn't be in the top 64, but I like where his career is headed.

True, but these rankings are apparently done by "Staff" with claims of being an actual sports writer

Suh kind of struggled this year. Going from 10 sacks to 4 hurt his stock and he also missed games. Those rankings pay attention to games played

Cody is nothing like Ngata because Ngata is an every down lineman and Cody is a 3rd down guy...

I don't understand either.

Anyway, I think Cody's pretty damn good. I'm glad we have him here, personally. He isn't Vince Wilfork, but hey, maybe he can be one day, who knows. The kid has a big heart and I think he does a good job staying motivated. I mean, he has been at the Ravens training facility since the season ended and they say he looks very good. I can't wait to see him play this year. I think he is ready to dominant some guards & centers this year.

Actually I am a Cody fan, but top 64 is too much. That's saying he's better than 3 of every 4/5 NFL starters on a defensive line. Which isn't true. Maybe this year, but not last year.

I was disappointed with his performance a few times this year, but he is still very young and still getting in better shape. When he gets in better shape, he'll do better.

He is a run stuffer, he cannot rush the pass to be a third down player (yet)

I think too many people under estimate the value of OTAs and other offseason programs. The lockout hurt Cody just as much as anyone last season, because he wasn't able to get that one on one coaching from CB and others.

Cody replaced Gregg with no drop off last season. For a first time start he didn't play bad at all and now he should be able to define his role even more. Cody probably will never be a pass rusher, but from a technique standpoint, he'll be able to learn enough this year to help push the pocket more on 1st and 2nd downs.

I think it depends on how the draft shakes out. If a top tier DT like Cox or Brockers slide to 29 that would be hard to pass on.

if we could have a chance to look half as good as '00 d-line, why not. having ngata is a good start!

Agreed, hoping cody coming in ready to command attention from other teams. He's very agile for a guy his size & if he can add more strength while improving his technique...he will prove himself quickly.
Seems there are many young players ready to take that next step this coming year, very excited to see how things play out for them.

He can improve himself over the summer with actual workouts this season. He should be fun to watch next year. Our Dline will be good.
