But if you say that he's not, you're a hater
Why must you say things like this just to insight people? You know that isnt true in the first place.

I'm just speaking from experience. I don't hate Flacco, but when I say something negative, that's what I'm dubbed as

Mind over matter.

To achieve, you must believe.

Etc.

Joe just keep up your hard work, one day you'll shut up all the doubters

OMG, what do ppl think he should say?

Joe do you consider yourself to be a good/top QB ? Joe: Oh no, I think I'm pretty average, middle of the pack, nothing special

Really? freakin' Yahoo has the article running on its main page about what Joe said and everyone is bashing him, this is so dumb..do people not understand the Ravens philosophy of a strong run game and playing solid defense ? Joe outplayed Tom Brady in the AFC Championship, two years in a row he's played well in the playoffs yet ppl still post his numbers from his rookie and 2nd year..he's had his WRs let him down the past two years

Its really annoying, you have Matt Ryan getting love because he puts up nice numbers but he's not a winner like Joe, he chokes under the pressure of the playoffs...what would you have Joe say? No I'm not a top QB in this league and I think the Ravens shouldnt extend my contract?

yeah right

“Without a doubt [I'm in the top 5],” Flacco said. “What do you expect me to say? I would assume everybody thinks they’re a top-5 quarterback. I think I’m the best. I don’t think I’m the top 5, I think I’m the best. I wouldn’t be very successful at my job if I didn’t feel that way."

This statement clarifies it for me. I think the point he's trying to convey is, if you don't have confidence in yourself, why would anyone else?
duhh..its amazing how people dont understand that

its even more amazing how people fall in love with numbers and not on winning....you go Matt Ryan, keep putting up nice numbers in the regular season...whats his playoff record ? 0 for ?

Rodgers. Brady. Brees. Peyton. Eli. Ben. Rivers. & maybe Stafford/Vick before Joe. I love it though that he said that..

Stafford and Vick can't even play 16 games in a season. I'll agree with the rest of your picks though.

I don't know if Flacco is the best, but I'd certainly like to see Cam Cameron fired so we can actually find out. I guarantee Rodgers, Brady, and Brees would not put up their numbers in this scheme. In fact, we have data of Brees in this moronic scheme to prove it.

Good. I'd hate to be the fan of a team who's quarterback says he's "okay" or "pretty good". The last guy to make a big statement like that was Eli Manning last summer - I'd say it worked out pretty good for him.

Matthews Stafford didn't miss a single game in 2011 though. Obviously he'll need to continue staying healthy in order to shake the injury prone label, but after the 17 straight starts this year, he has shown that he can play throughout the entire season.

I'd take Flacco over even a healthy Stafford. His numbers are inflated because they pass a lot and he has the best WR in the NFL. He's not that much more efficient than Flacco and he turns it over more (which goes with passing it more). I think he will get better as he gets more experience, but I think Flacco will get better as well as our recievers develop and we bring in more talent.

I wasn't arguing who's superior though, just that Stafford can survive through a full season.

Don't see the big deal. In anything I compete in, I'm saying I'm the better than everybody even though I may not be. You have to believe in yourself before people start believing in you. Way to go in having confidence in yourself, Joe. (Even if your statement is 100% false. lol)

ok. I wasnt trying to argue with your point just stating my opinion on Stafford. Ravens<3 said he would take Stafford over Joe so I probably should quoted his post instead.

Talk is cheap. Lets see it this season Joe.
as opposed to his other 4 seasons...like he didnt do anything, we'd have been in the superbowl if we had reliable WRs

I was reading the the Doug Farrar(Yahoo) blog post on Joe's comments and this part made me laugh:
Flacco's also totally on board with the whole "QB wins" thing, as you'd expect him to be. After all, it's a bit easier to explain that you un-specifically won a bunch of games that it is to break down specific anamolies. Example: In Flacco's four-year NFL career, the Ravens have won 11 regular-season and two postseason games in which their elite quarterback has failed to throw a touchdown pass. So, yeah -- better for Joe Cool to put the stats on the back burner.
Great stat, Doug. As if the only way a QB (especially one on a team that favors the run in the red-zone) can have a positive affect on games is by tossing TDs.

Would be true if people hold onto the damn football.

*Looks at Boldin, Housh'meh'zadah and Lee Evans*
Don't forget to add Joe Flacco in the hold onto the D___ ball thing.

I'm not even gonna lay anything into this. The NFL network totally rewrites what he said... He said of course he had to have the mentality, thinking hes the best, in order to do the best he can.

Obviously a untrue statement on it's face but I appreciate his confidence and I think his point was to have the kind of success he wants to have you have to believe you have what it takes to be the best, and I think that's true.

Wake me up when Flacco gets 30 TD passes and a 65 completion percenatge both are numbers repesentative of a top quarterback. Leading the league in fumbles at QB and a completion percentage below 60 in this day and age are numbers indicative of mediocrity.

Time to open the floodgates.

http://blogs.baltimo...ts-complicated/

Joe is a very confident guy. I, of course, don't think he's the best in the league, but confidence seems to be Joe's thing. He doesn't waver and doesn't get rattled (not even the Texans playoff game). I know he's going to get hammered for making these comments and I won't argue with the idea that he isn't the top QB in the game. However, I don't think he's trying to come across as cocky or disrespectful. I think he was put under a lot of pressure to express this confidence after Linta (his agent) said he was top-5. He also says that every QB should ooze with confidence and that if you don't you won't flourish.

The last QB who said he was elite and got laughed at for it was Eli, and look what happened. This obviously doesn't mean there's a rule saying it must happen with Joe, but I think Joe is going to be much improved next season.
Wow Just how bad was the ravens oline last year. Joe took one too many shots to the head with those comments.
