It looks like we might get some hardcore battle scenes next week. They've just hinted at battle in the past really, I wonder if we're going to get the epic Helm's Deep treatment.

The thing is they make characters of the 13th of Qarth when they don't matter and I just am salty there is No meera and jojen or ramsay.
I'm sure Meera and Jojen will be brought in later if the series makes it that far. Also Ramsay has been mentioned in the scenes with Roose Bolton and Robb, but the timing in the series is a little off.

I think they have done a good job of developing the characters that are important. They cant make it too confusing for those who havent read the books.

I was much more offended by the changes/emissions made to the LoTR trilogy.

I love this show...I didn't read the books. Also, If it were the same as the books what would be the point of it? Avid readers always say the "the book is better"... so... with that thought process, I think its good that HBO has changed it up a bit..Otherwise, what would the point be for the readers to watch the show?

BTW, I like how thewy messed up last week... and they scared me. The preview said "two episodes left" when it was obviously wrong... At the time, 3 remained... They corrected it for this week ... TWO EPISODES LEFT.... LOl.

Theon is going to get CRUSHED!

Unfortunately Theon will be fine. Interviews from the author say he has a Theon chapter written for Book 6 already, or something like that. Unfortunately he won't be dying this season.

I haven't gotten through Clash of Kings, but I'm really hoping Joffery and Catelyn get it before the season is over.

What do you have against Catelyn?

[spoilers]

And Theon certainly doesn't die anytime soon, his story just takes a gross turn.

I don't like the way she's characterized, especially in the book, and the way she treated Jon Snow ticked me off. What she did this week only added fuel to the fire.

I felt that her issues with Snow added realism. Characters should have flaws or you'd end up with Mary-Sue populated worlds. Besides you can't expect every woman to welcome the evidence of their husband's infidelity wiith open arms. Would Ned have been expected to care for her product-of-infidelity child if she had decided to head south for a while?

Anyway, what did she do on the show?

I've only watched a handful of episodes, but I actually like Theon's character. Like DL1216 said, characters should be flawed to a degree.

I'm not saying it wasn't realistic, I just don't like it. It's not the kid's fault he was born the way he was, and I think it's a bit more sad in the book because they're all younger (I believe they aged all the children 3 years for the show, probably because Dany would have been 13 when Drogo did his business).

I don't do spoilers.

I think all of the characters in the show are flawed, which helps give them some relatability. There are no perfect heroes, so to speak. Even Robb, who is probably the character portrayed as the most heroic thus far, has done some questionable things, although I don't disagree with his most recent action. I would say Jon Snow is fairly free of corruption, as he seems to have overcome his arrogance.

But one last note on Theon, the actor portraying him might be the weakest on the show. I would have less issues with the character if he didn't sound like an idiot every time he delivers his lines.

With the Winds of Winter having a 2013 release, and the fact that DoD is pretty large as well, he might be ok getting a Dream of Spring out in time.

Rowling had a similar timeline and she was able to pull it off.

The wildfire scene was pretty cool, too bad the CGI was a bit cheezy....

Wow, what an incredible end to the season. I can't wait until next April. I will miss being surprised though, as I will undoubtedly be caught up on my reading by then. There were a few unexpected things tonight.

If you guys are going to buy the books, look for the bundle where you get the first four for less than buying them individually.

I'm halfway through A Clash of Kings. I didn't realize how much they added to the series that was not in the books. There were quite a few things they spelled out or expanded upon that we were unable to see in the book because one of the narrators was not present at the event. The most spoiler free one I can think of are scenes of Littlefinger talking about his love of Catelyn in his brothel.

It's actually a bit disappointing reading the books. The show is still fantastic, much like LOTR it exists just fine in the TV show form and on its on. Still, there are quite a few characters that, while I understand while they're not in there, would have improved the storytelling.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS (season 2)
The book could of easily been converted over to a script but they have changed sooooo much. Notably Dany's story. With the dragons being kidnapped, with Rakharo's head being chopped off, her maiden and Xando being put in Vault (wasn't vault to begin with) and the weird creepy scene where she is up at the wall talking to Drogo. None of it was in the book.

Also, yeah LOTR isn't on the money too but the extended versions are pretty close to the book compared to Clash of Kings and season 2 of GoT

I think the changed Dany story is more compelling. Granted I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book so I don't know what they do to finish. There are quite a few other changes they made that I like. The scene where Jon catches Craster with the Others helped flesh out him as a bad guy. A man also likes how a girl is Tywin's servant in the show, although her whole ark in the book is much better. And the way Tyrion catches the Grand Maester as the informant to Cersei makes a lot more sense in the show.

The show would have benefited from the addition of Jojen and Meera, as well as expanding both Bran's and Arya's story arks. That being said, those parts made the most sense to cut down.

As I said, both mediums are excellent. The book is slightly better, but Game of Thrones is still the best thing on TV right now.
