Well we have a Spartacus thread so let's have a GOT thread
And hey it's the offseason, not a lot else happening

Anyone else watching?
Anyone else read the books, watched Series One, watched the first episode of Series Two or/and maybe done all of these?

No spoilers from the books please.

Love this show, politics, violence, intrigue and double crossing, hell it has it all.

So anyone watching?
That Joffrey, I want to bash and batter his face in
He deserves it, Jack Gleeson is so good at his role that he has a face you just want to punch

The Season Premiere was excellent, although the suspense is going to be hard to deal with. I haven't read the books yet, due to time constraints, so I don't know what is going to happen. I really want to know what the Red Priestess is all about, she seemed to be the most interesting new character, among other things. I watched season 1 in a weekend, so I didn't have to deal with this before.

I was worried when you know what happened you know that the show was going to fall precipitously in quality. It appears it will not.

Week 2 was even better. I loved the suspenseful ending, although I don't recall seeing an update on Robb Stark last night.

I cried inside when Ed got beheaded in front of his daughters...

I haven't read the books, but every time I take the NY subway, I see at least 1 person reading one of the books. That and the Hunger Games.

HBO announced it's been renewed for a third season

No suprise at all, it's a ratings winner

I hope this keeps up man, I want to see them finish the series. It is incredible, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the most expensive show to make on television right now.

The episode was great as always, and Dinklage was exceptionally fantastic today. My one complaint is we didn't get an update on Robb Stark again, and we didn't have an update on Dany despite the fact she was the picture on the thumbnail on HBO Go.

Very creepy episode this evening, especially the shadow baby. Still awesome.

Yeah, and that part came a little early compared to the timeline of the book. A real important event should of happened prior to that...

I do not watch the show, but now that I've read the first four books (and declined to waste my time on the fifth) I wonder how the show is going to hande the lull (to put it nicely) that takes place in later books.

Will they radically change the plot to make it bearable? Will GRRM be forced to actually finish the series? Or will it even still be popular enough to warrant new seasons that far down the road?

I have to say that I was a little disappointed in the ages of the Stark kids (or at least I would be). They should be a bit younger, but that hardly matters.

Do they really call Eddard ''Ed'' instead of ''Ned?''

Word on the street is the GRRM has told the writers of the show the basic way he wants the story to end. This is so that the story can be finished in the TV show even if he dies before the books are done.

No, they called him Ned.

Would he kindly let the fans know as well?

I'm guessing {possible spoilers (although you probably won't be able to tell guesses from canon unless you already know)}

Daenerys and her [s]clone army[/s] unsullied eunuchs and personality-less dragons defeat the Others and save Westeros from destruction.

That or everyone who is even mildly interesting (and especially if they are good) dies and the story finishes with a bunch of minor characters that no one really cares about wandering around searching for something they never find.

Wow, less than five minutes in and this is probably the most exciting episode of the season so far.

Yes. I love the series. This last episode was a little off, but for the most part it has stayed very true to the books.

I found Catelyn tolerable in the show, but she has way to many chapters in the book and she is unbearable as a character. Outside of Dany and Arya, the women in the book are awful. Everyone else is still great, with the extra development on Jon Snow and Tyrion as highlights.

This show is excellent. I have enjoyed watching every minute of it so far.

And I have savored King Geoffrey getting a face full of cow pie! :point:

Season 2 has been a disappointment just because ive read the books. If this was a show based on original writers and not an adaptation, Id be very happy. But they are kinda ruining Martin's works.

Killing off characters that are still alive in the books, putting scenes in there that never happened (dragon theft scene), not writing the characters that need to be in there for upcoming events (Meera, Jojen, Reek, Ramsay Snow), and for the love of god, Arya was never Tywin's cupbearer. She was Roose Boltons. I can go on and on.

Like how Renly dies first, then Melisandre uses here shadow baby thing to breach Storm's end so Stannis can have Robert's son Edric Storm as proof of Jaime and Cersie's incest.

Also, Robb falls in love with a daugther of a minor house, not a nurse from across the narrow sea.

I can understand why they might leave some character's out. GRRM did add alot and it's probably above the budget of a television series to have so many reoccuring roles. Besides, it's only an hour long show right? The audience doesn't have that much time to try to connect with and care about so many minor characters. Even LotR left out Elladan and Elrohir, but I digress.

The other things you mentioned, do seem to be a little silly. Why in the world would they want to kill off still living characters? Don't they know that there will be plenty of bloodshed to go around in just a little while? Unless they plan on introducing Meera and Jojen later, Bran's story arc could be a little... weird.

There is a Game of Thrones video game now? This series is even more popular than I suspected. It's kind of sad though. There will be a bunch of new fans who have no idea how much GRRM let things unravel with the last two books.

The thing is they make characters of the 13th of Qarth when they don't matter and I just am salty there is No meera and jojen or ramsay.
