Disney

I am taking my family down to Disney for a week this summer.

Is there any one here who has been there recently enough has some tips or advice to share ?

We are staying on grounds. We are flying down. We are getting the park hopper pass.

Any insider advice would be appriciated.

Thanks.

Well we went during Christmas and only went on 2 rides because of the lines. Universal was even worse.
Keep children away from the expensive food too. Bring your own.

We stayed in Kissimmee but when my sister went last year, they stayed in the park and if you have girls the princess brunch fills up quick.

I haven't been to Disney in a long time. I enjoyed going to Seaworld more and seeing the whale shows and Shamu than Disney itself. Also Downtown Disney is also a fabulous place to visit at night.

Going to Disney during the height of tourist you'll find few positive things. The crowds are going to be big and the lines for stuff long.

My wife and I make a habit of taking vacations off peak tourist times. We go the week before memorial day and then in the november\december time frame. We've got our Florida plans for this year just about wrapped up.

Lol. This poor guy is rethinking his decision making skills on every level, from family vacations to why he comes here for advice.

the week we are going is the first week my daughter is out of school. Since she goes to a private school she is out before any other Maryland public school. Also before any public school on Orlando. So I am hoping crowds wont be too bad.

Whatever you do, try hard to make sure everyone is full before going to the park - in the beginning the prices look ridiculous, but as the day wears on and you (and more importantly the kids) get real hungry, you'll cave if you aren't careful. And if you're going in the summer, it will be very hot and very humid - lots of water. Again, try to bring your own, and I think they let you bring in small snacks - they're worth the investment if they do. It's been several years since I've gone down, but from what I remember, you are always tired and thirsty by midday. Also, the earlier you get to the parks the less crowding there will be. Most importantly, you're going during peak tourist season - be prepared to wait forever for some of the rides. I think they're all worth it (except the Small World ride at Magic Kingdom, that one really annoys/freaks me out personally). Look for the Fastpass. Basically it gives you a specified time to come back to the attraction and then you can get in the "Fastpass line", which saves a ton of wait-time.

Here's a quick link, gives you some idea of what to do depending on the ages of the kids.

I know Volusia County goes 8 weeks off 3 or something like that--that is where our condo is. I think their break is somewhere the beginning of June this year, We plan part of our vacation to be there when a friend of ours kids are out,

My sister used Mousesavers.com If you have access to a car buy your souvenirs outside the park.

Actually I did like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean --Not much else for 3 days lol
