2012, I Am Tired Of All The Negativity

Of course there are a lot of negative people. It's easier to be negative than positive.

And this IS 2012, the supposed end of the world. Lol.
Omg!
It IS 2012, no wonder everybody is freaking out. Wait, some do that every off season lol
For those wanted us to be off season winners... You're supporting the wrong team. Can't tell ya how many times analysis report that the ravens lost out in the off season.

We feel alot worse this year undeniably because, Last year:
Mason - Aging WR
Heap-Injury prone aging, hardly played
McGahee - A backup who most thought had little left in the tank.
Gregg - Aging D-line, who was a victim of a younger roster.

This Year:
Cory Redding - A staple on our D-line. An aggressive run stopper/pass rusher who has years left in him.
J.J. - Aging, but held his own. High motor guy who never complained about his duties. He will be missed
Ben Grubbs - Pro Bowl guard. Need i say more?
Nakamura/Zbikowski - Zbi filled in admirably when Reed got injured. Naka was very versatile in positions of all DB's.

You can see how this year is alot worse than years priorWe have lost mostly starters, our reliable backups . Our O-line is in shambles, Birk is aging, Oher is inconsistent, and Mckinney seemed to have lost some gas as the season wore on.
Our safety position doesn't have the backup it has since Naka/Zbi has left.
Kruger and Kindle have alot of potential, but isn't proven as J.J.
I love Ozzie and how he works his magic, but he has to pull off something special to get our team to where it was/ wants to be again.

I understand your points and ideally we would have brought some of those guys back, but Grubbs is the only one that has created a huge gaping hole that needs to be filled. Redding was signed to a 2 year deal for a reason, he turns 32 sometime during the season. McPhee and Jones have the size to step right in as our 3-4 DE and McPhee showed he already has the higher motor, especially when it comes to pass rushing, than Redding will ever have. JJ's ability to set the edge against the run will be missed, but at this point that is the only plus with him over Kruger, Paul almost has as many sacks last year coming in on the rotation as JJ has ever posted in a season. I was a huge fan of Zbikowski and especially Nakamura (was really hoping he'd be back but I don't blame him) but Considine has plenty of starting experience to help us in a pinch.

I am a little worried about our o-line as well, but think about a few things. Oher being left on the same side instead of the old switcheroo every season will only help him build consistency. I was the biggest detractor of the McKinnie signing when it happened last year (go back and look at the threads, I was throwing some major hate his way, haha), but the guy genuinely seems to have put it back together for us, at least long enough until we find another LT. Birk does worry me, especially after Wilfork ragdolled him all game last time we saw him, but Ozzie will get a contingency plan together for Birk's age catching up to him. We're going to be fine my friend.

If I wanted negativity, then I'd hang out on an Orioles forum rather than in here. OOOO!!!

This made my night, but in all honesty, we need to do better, but Oz rebuilds in the draft.

I trust oz, however i will be sad if for some reason we lose webb
Webb will be a Raven. I stated the same thing about McClain a few days before he resigned with us.

I am going to save and use this post whenever someone says (and have, frequently), 'Hey, we were the same last year when we lost D-Mase and Heap!,'. Firstly, no..we weren't. The only people really moaning were the same people who ALWAYS gripe at the beginning of the year and all throughout the year as well. This year posters I like and admire are worried and I am as well, mostly for the reasons you outlined above. Thanks for making me feel like I'm not nuts.

This is another stupid thing that happens every single year. We always have the posts acknowledging that all of the panics in the past were wrong, but then they go on to say "it's totally for real this time!" It is beyond annoying and always proven wrong.

It's not. The Ravens survived the losses of literally about two dozen respected defensive starters in the past decade. Why should I be worried about the losses of two defensive starters who are among the worst of that group? JJ was clearly aging at this stage and OLB was always discussed as a need during his five year tenure as a starter. Redding is being replaced by someone who was very impressive as a rookie with depth behind him to boot.

Grubbs? Whoever called him a Pro Bowl guard is wrong, because he's never made it there and quite frankly didn't look like one whenever I was watching him. We may not be able to find an equal replacement right away, but we've lost far better players in the past and wound up just fine.

Next man up. It's worked almost perfectly in the past, and 2012 will be no exception.

He was a first alternate to the Pro Bowl, behind Logan MANkins, but ended up starting the Pro Bowl. Many consider him a Pro Bowl caliber guard. I do as well.

The Pro Bowl is such a joke that I would caution using it to determine the value of any player.

Grubbs is a quality player and I would rather not lose him, but I don't feel he played at a pro bowl level, especially against better defenses.

It is a joke, but I feel that as offensive linemen's names are so rarely known, it can still be used to determine an offensive lineman's skill level. It may be a popularity contest for the skill positions, but linemen are not popular. Ya know what I mean?

Yea I feel you, but it goes both ways. The Ravens were one of the top teams in the NFL all season and Rice was the second leading rusher in the NFL, so when your average fan sees that they'll just vote for a olineman because his team was good and his RB had a great season.

Now I will say that Grubbs has pro bowl potential and I feel he played up to that potential for the most part, but definitely not last year. I don't even think Yanda played at a pro bowl level last year.

I just can't get the last two years of playoffs performances from Grubbs outta my head. Very disappointing, but I do wish he would have stayed.

Actually, I think it is just the opposite for Olineman. Once a player has established himself among the best, the players/coaches and fans too just automatically pencil in the same guy over and over again. See Mankins and Ferguson last season. They both had down years but were voted in because of past performance.

The same "we're doomed" threads come up every year and the "stay calm" threads always follow. The trick is to ignore all threads until the draft and you're set!

The OP is right. We have slightly less than 9 months left until the end of the world as we know it.

"Don't worry, Be happy" and all that.

Might as well enjoy it while we can! lol

Other than G position, not really freaking out. Not even freaking out about that, just concerned a bit what we're going to do there.

I dont understand how someone can say "i dont come here in the off-season" and post that a whole bunch of times in similar threads during the off-season. Dont post in a thread if you dont like the topic..
Besides most of us are worried as stated above. And the best place to share our concerns is with other Raven fans..
yeah thats the whole point in why i don't post here as much during the offseason, i dont need other peoples fears and worries to be placed on me, i dont worry about things out of my control, like if the Patriots or some other team tries to claim Webb and sign him to a big contract we cant match...I love Webb as a player and really want him a Raven for life...but i cant trouble myself all offseason over whether he gets taken from us, its no good

....i kind of feel like Webb wouldnt sign with another team anyway, he has character and i think he wants to be a Raven too

Where else would you rather be to talk Raven-ball?
Also, Webb was bred in purple and black, i hope that's where he stays for a long long time as well...

Anyone know Cam Camerons contract status? I know Biscotti and John already said he was coming back, I just want to know for how long?
