2012, I Am Tired Of All The Negativity

51 posts in this topic

Listen, probably thousands of you die hard fans it seems as if has lost hope. Nothing in FA, Nothing .Usually I am glass is half empty (actually, I believe it is half but enough about me) I have seen it in many threads, bashing Flacco, our recivers, It is not even draft yet. Yes, we are in trouble, but when has Oz ever been a huge FA player? For gods sakes, we are one of the four best teams in the leauge because we draft well. Which is what we half to do. Look, we have to improve through the draft. We will have OTA's and longer training camp. You may not, but I believe. We need to draft a (with examples)
LT (Adams)
MLB (Kendricks)
OG (TBD in my mock)
and WR (Streeter)
Step one is that, we need seasoned veterans. 2012 may be our year (Spitsburgh is old, sophmore curse, and Clevland sucks, SB curse). If all of this is true, we may have a shot. Damn straight. Flacco is waiting, so is Ray Ray. Once our offense, d are on the same level, look out.

I present to you what is my pump up song, not only does the team half to believe, we have to believe

Let's go with Hill and start scoring so many points that people stop worrying about the defense.

the sky was falling last year when we cut Mase, Gregg, Heap, and McGhee, too.

We still have Smith, Smith, Lewis, Rice, Reed,,,,,,
you know what?
Never mind. All this will do is reinforce the positive thinkers and the negative people will continue life with a dark cloud over head.

The same "we're doomed" threads come up every year and the "stay calm" threads always follow. The trick is to ignore all threads until the draft and you're set!

We feel alot worse this year undeniably because, Last year:
Mason - Aging WR
Heap-Injury prone aging, hardly played
McGahee - A backup who most thought had little left in the tank.
Gregg - Aging D-line, who was a victim of a younger roster.

This Year:
Cory Redding - A staple on our D-line. An aggressive run stopper/pass rusher who has years left in him.
J.J. - Aging, but held his own. High motor guy who never complained about his duties. He will be missed
Ben Grubbs - Pro Bowl guard. Need i say more?
Nakamura/Zbikowski - Zbi filled in admirably when Reed got injured. Naka was very versatile in positions of all DB's.

You can see how this year is alot worse than years priorWe have lost mostly starters, our reliable backups . Our O-line is in shambles, Birk is aging, Oher is inconsistent, and Mckinney seemed to have lost some gas as the season wore on.
Our safety position doesn't have the backup it has since Naka/Zbi has left.
Kruger and Kindle have alot of potential, but isn't proven as J.J.
I love Ozzie and how he works his magic, but he has to pull off something special to get our team to where it was/ wants to be again.

I always panic a little, but I'm trying to stay calm. I wish the Baltimore Ravens would get a move on signing our own guys, but I'm not worried about anything else. In Ozzie we trust!

Of course we got it, there is no other front office i would rather have than the one we have.
They will fill the void.

I honestly don't know why anyone is feeling worse than last year. We have a lot of young up and coming players that will be great next year, and the draft can help fix most of the problems. I think 2012 is going to be better than 2011 for a lot of reasons.

i just dont come on here much during the offseason because i cant put up with all the moaning and people freaking out over the Ravens lack of free agency moves, we dont have the cap room to make moves

its easier to just ignore it all until you know..the season actually gets closer, when OTAs, minicamps, etc come around

Ozzie was still making moves towards the end of TRAINING CAMP....so yeah, its still early

I am going to save and use this post whenever someone says (and have, frequently), 'Hey, we were the same last year when we lost D-Mase and Heap!,'. Firstly, no..we weren't. The only people really moaning were the same people who ALWAYS gripe at the beginning of the year and all throughout the year as well. This year posters I like and admire are worried and I am as well, mostly for the reasons you outlined above. Thanks for making me feel like I'm not nuts.

Yeah, but I kind of like the mock draft feel. Is it like this every year.

I dont understand how someone can say "i dont come here in the off-season" and post that a whole bunch of times in similar threads during the off-season. Dont post in a thread if you dont like the topic..
Besides most of us are worried as stated above. And the best place to share our concerns is with other Raven fans..

I like the offseason around training camp, by then we have some semblance of a team and know who will be playing what. Between now and the draft there's way too much uncertainty. Mock drafts make me anxious, with all the hypotheticals.

Last year, the New York Giants released 3 starting offensive linemen - Shawn Andrews, Shaun O'Hara, and Rich Seubert. They signed David Bass, ho-hum move. They let Cofield walk. Kevin Boss gone.

"With little cap maneuvering room, they managed to largely keep the 2010 roster intact at the cost of making big flashy improvements. Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin clearly have faith in the talent developed in-house."

So we let JJ go, Redding go, Zibikowski and Nakamura go, and Grubbs go. Of those, only Grubbs was a starter on this team. The Giants lost 5. And um, who won the Lombardi this year?

The thing too, is this team has a tendency to pick up guys who get cut during the offseason b/c they're too expensive for their team or the team feels they aren't needed. Isn't that how we ended up with Mase? And McKinnie got cut b/c of weight issues, and his only problem is that he'll be 33 and O-lineman don't usually have as long a career as some other positions. I think we are going to add some pieces, just not big flashy pieces. I mean really, the only guys of note that I remember us bringing in the last few years were McGahee, Boldin, Evans, and Pollard. Housh was cut from his team, so was McKinnie.

Yes, McKinnie, Mase, and Willie Anderson were all signings like that.

I'm not going to get too up or down on any team in March, I know better than that. We have one of the best GMs in the NFL, heading one of the best scouting and personnel departments... I have faith.

Really? I guess I haven't noticed the negativity. Outside of our offensive line, I think we are in great position and if Joe rolls out of the pocket more like the Pats game, even the line we have now will be able to keep him upright for the most part.

We will be fine. There is not one player that left in free agency that will break us and there isn't one player in the draft that will make us. We will bring guys in when the time is right and our offensive line will be ready by week 1 but it is definitely are area of need.

I'm not concerned though! Only thing concerning me (which is more of an impatience thing than a concerning factor) is getting Joe and Rice's deals worked out. I don't want them dragging out like Ngata or Suggs, where they miss training camp and OTAs. Our defenders can afford to miss it but not our QB and RB.

Same thing that happens every off season from people who don't truly know this team. The NFL is a business and people come\go every year. We have aot of young and developing talent from last year plus we get another draft to nail it this year. If you can't be excited for our future you don't have a pulse.......

The thing about rolling out is you don't want to do it that much, since it's mainly to keep the defense off guard. For instance Cincinnati and Houston both starting sending Defensive players after joe and it blew up some of our plays.

It's a good part of our offense, but we shouldn't marry it.

Nothing is as disruptive as an internal rush. Basically if a nose tackle gets in the backfield the play is over.

EDIT: But if you're saying Joe has to move better, then you're right. He tends to play well in the playoffs though. Against Kansas City and New England, which is good. I will say that Flacco is a gamer, he likes the big moments. I just wish he were better in the redzone and in the pocket.

I want to see Joe run more like he did in the Patriots game. He got us at least 3 first downs with his feet.

Instead of listening to Bon whatever... you should listen to "The Wicker Man" by Iron Maiden. Its way more happy! They tell you your time will come. The Ravens time will come...one day...one day... *add dramatic music*

Of course there are a lot of negative people. It's easier to be negative than positive.

And this IS 2012, the supposed end of the world. Lol.
