Let me put things in perspective. I was born in Italy in 1989 and came here to Baltimore at age 7. Shortly after I arrived here, someone gave me a Ray Lewis football card in a plastic case. I had no idea who he was, nor did I understand football. I was like the new team in Baltimore. I had to learn everything like it was brand new. I studied football like it was my religion. We weren't too good in 1996, but I went to a few games with my older brother, father, and uncle. I have learned to embrace football as my culture. It was my path to becoming American. I still have that football card. It's amazing to me that he would be still playing football after all these years. Ray Lewis has been playing football for most of my life. It's been half of my life since we won the Super Bowl. Let's hope that Ray gets another ring. He has earned it.
Great back story. Now...get that card signed Son! :)

There will never be another Ray Lewis. Truly one of a kind. It will be a sad day in Baltimore when he retires.

What was the point of making this thread?
Do you need a point to make a thread about the awesomeness that is Ray Lewis?

Everything I've read says he won't be a coach. Between acting and preaching from what I heard but would absolutely love him as a lb coach.

Ray will be making commercials, going on talk shows, and working on the NFL network with the rest of the Hall of Famers.

Actually he would serve better as a DC, but as it has been said already I think he will go other routs.

Agreed, just figured I would let him work his way up to dc, perhaps assist dc to start instead of lb coach? Moot point but us game can still dream

I hope he isn't one of those HOF players that just becomes a coach for another team.
Bite ur tongue, bad enough he don't wanna coach... It'd crush me if he did for another team.

One thing that isn't often spoken that I want to say about Ray is that he is a role model in how he takes care of his Mama. Maybe it's not as important to many people in America in this era of selfish individualism, but it's seen as the pinnacle of honor in Italy where filial piety is ingrained in the culture. Maybe this makes me seem old-school or corny, but I see that this makes Ray a man of honor that separates him from many other athletes in the NFL. "Il vero uomo d'onore è un figlio di pietà filiale che onora la sua famiglia e fornisce per sua madre nella sua vecchiaia." My rough translation: "The true man of honor is a son of filial piety who honors his family by providing for his mother in her old age." (Embrace multi-culturalism in America folks.). If you know me, then you know that I always try to keep it real. What shocked me the most when I came to America was how little we know about other cultures.

My favourite Lewis speech of all time is that 2008 Titans AFCDG one.

"There is no time to come back to the huddle and say 'my fault', we can't both be on backside, we can't be on the ground. It ain't time for that! It's time to do what we do, count on each other!

That game was so beyond epic and that speech so ruthless. I love everything about that game.
