They could of fined and suspended Payton a reasonable amount instead of taking away his 7.5 mil salary and suspending him for the season.

Joe Paterno didn't even get it that bad (well besides the whole dying of cancer) and he knew of something much, much worse.

I dont see how you can compare the two. They are completely unrelated subjects, and besideds Joe-Pa got fired in a very distasteful manner. I dont see how you can see he didn't get it that bad.

*Does the Jim Carrey point and laugh from the pill scene in Dumb and Dumber* This is probably the funniest thing I have ever read. Looking good, Grubbs. Looking REAL GOOD.

They both knew about their defensive coordinators doing unethical things and were kept on and not removed from the team....

How is that unrelated when it comes to coming down on a headcoach that just KNEW what was going on?!

Why is everyone so sour about Grubbs going there? Get your heads out of your butts. Just because you are a fan of Baltimore doesn't mean he was. It's a job and another franchise was paying him more, was moving closer to his family back home, and he is a guard; there is no better food in the world for fatties than new orleans.

i saw the interview with Greer, Jabari i think it was on sportscenter about 5 minutes ago,he was very upset,he basily said the players didnt have anything to do with it,which we all know is a bunch of bs.

Well to be fair, college is not the NFL, and the NFL has no reason to use a college's decision to weigh theirs. The NFL is going to do what they are going to do, and not look to outside influences to form their judgement. So I really don't think you can compare the two except on a personal level of morality.

Its completely unrelated. You are focusing on a minute detail, while the surrounding circumstances are grossly dissimilar.

I'll bet Bobby McCray and Johnathan Vilma are going to get it the worst. McCray was the one who knocked Warner out of the playoff game and he was the one who rattled Favre on his first interception in the NFC title game. I also wonder why Brees is so upset about not getting a big contract. Does he really want to stay down there forever? If the Saints don't offer him that money, someone else will.

I agree with this.

It's absurd. I really hate the idiots on here when they say stupid stuff like how Bart Scott left us, or Jason Brown turned his back and ran for the money. Even when Mason went to the Jets people were crying.

It's their careers and I kinda wish we weren't extending Flacco so when you see him go on visits to Miami or KC, people will be calling out the golden boy's loyalty.

It's all about the money!

So what might only be 3 million is still 3 million.

Don't act like you guys have never left a company to get paid more at another.

I would stay at a company making less if the "company" wanting to pay me more was in the situation the saints are. I value other things over money.
A lot of people are like that

That's right because Grubbs knew the coaches would be fired....

Yeah he knew they were in hot water and I agree. There are things more important then money. Winning is one of them. He probably thought his chances were better with that franchise AND like i've already said, HE IS CLOSER TO HIS FAMILY.

Yup. I would understand leaving for a new team/company if the pay was signficantly higher, but from the reports out there he left for about 500,000 more per year. This is leaving the organization that drafted you and gave you a starting role on their team for 5 years to join a team that is in the middle of one of the league's biggest scandals in recent memory. It's not like the Ravens low-balled him either. It's his choice to play where he wants, but I dont see the Saints as a better opportunity. Maybe he would get more national recognition there, that is the only reason I could see leaving a great situation for a very questionable one.

How 'bout them Saints now, eh Ben Grubbs! ;)

Totally justifiable I reckon. Maybe a tad harsh, but I have no problem with it.

Now onto the players.

Ben Grubbs leaving for money is one thing. Nothing wrong with leaving for money. People do it all the time. Ray almost did it. It happens.

The bottom-line is Grubbs went to an organization in a very bad situation. I question his thinking if he chose to go to New Orleans with the problems they are having. No, he couldn't have guessed the punishment but he should have been able to ascertain the magnitude of the situation. If he went there for money, so be it. If he went there to win, I wonder why he chose the Saints.

I think there may be some credence to him going to NO because it's close to his family, but then again he could have gone to Tennessee if that was the case because they are also close to them. Tennessee also needed a guard.

Anyway, we digress. Ben Grubbs went there & it's over. This topic isn't about Grubbs--it's about the Saints & more particularly those involved in this bounty scandal.

I think the "indefinite" ban on Williams is a polite way of saying "you're done in this league".

True, about Ben Grubbs.

That would suck for him. I guess there's always college ball.

I'm glad they got whooped so hard. Seeing Drew 'suck-up' Brees cry on twitter and not having to see Sean Payton's puckered face for a whole season is awesome. And this is even before they hand down player suspensions.

I've disliked the Saints ever since they became media darlings in 2006, despite being only an above-average, soft team.

He's under exclusive tender. He can't talk contract with any other team. Right now he's kinda stuck.

Oh and did anyone else catch Warren Sapp calling out Jeremy Shockey as the snitch? Apparently the two got in a tweet war sometime yesterday.
