Texans Trade Demeco Ryans To The Eagles

12 posts in this topic

Eagles gave up a 4th round pick and swapped third round picks. If Ryans can return to form this is a steal for the Eagles,

I really don't understand this at all. i was quite scared of the texans d going into the year as well as their beef up front on the O-line, but cutting winston and then this, makes absolute no sense to me. didn't seem like they were that cap stressed..

They must be in serious cap trouble. Getting rid of Ryans and Winston for basically nothing.

Yep, not to mention his struggles in the 3-4. He's just too small to bang with blockers ever snap.

How do you figure? He is listed 6'1 247lbs , Ray Lewis is listed as 6'1 and 250lbs, while he is not Ray Lewis nor does he have his instincts, I would say that he is athletic, I would say he struggled more because of his Achilles injury than his size.

I think he's smaller than he's listed. His injury may have slowed him but he was far more productive as a 4-3 MLB than a 3-4 one. Lucky for him, Philly runs a 4-3.

Just getting younger I guess. I heard Daryl Sharpton will move to ILB to play next to Brian Cushing. Also he was due $6 Million salary which most likely played a huge part in the trade.

I will agree he was much more productive in the 4-3 but he also only got one year after coming off a major injury to adjust to the 3-4, Texans must fell very confident losing him and mario williams ( even though he missed most of last season)

It's what Texans fans say about him.

Ryans was never the same since his return from that ACL tear. Cushing is the far better ILB. He simply wasn't worth the contract they were paying him.

But he instantly upgrades Philly's LB core. Not to mention the 4-3 is a better fit for him. A 4th is a good value.

Really a good move for both parties involved.

And not to mention watching Mario Williams fall in love with Buffalo (feels kinda odd saying that )

The question is will the Texans D be ok? I know they have a group of young guys (Cushing and Watts come to mind as does the guy whose name I simply can not remember...all I remember was him terrorizing us last year in the playoffs (yeah I know...not a whole lot to go on with that )) but Williams AND Ryans seems like a lot.

Eagles defense is still going to suck. MLB was a huge issue for them last year, and Ryans if healthy should be better. Their D line however is probably what exposed that weakness. I think last year they realized that you can't build a defense from the outside in. Just look at what the Ravens had a few years ago..an extremely average to slightly below average group of DB's (minus reed) but still maintained arguably the best front 7 in the league. Result? Yet another top 10 defense despite playing a college defensive scheme under a DC who was clearly over his head in the NFL. Sorry, living up here in Delaware it's Eagles country, so I guess I use every chance I get to brag about how much better the Ravens are as a whole
