I guess he's generating some interest.

True but Ginn has more upside.
No he does not. He has failed to show much potential outside of KR/PR. He has bounced around from Miami to San Fran and done nothing.

The Jags can have him if they pay him more than veteran minimum. Lee Evans ankle injury last year might have showed us that age has finally caught up with him. But then he was quick in the playoffs, but football is about consistency. We can't pay Lee Evans to play 1 game out of every 3 games due to injuries. Also, injuries can really hurt WRs, which have to use speed, cuts, and agility. Ankle Injuries can really limit a WR more than a OL.

It sucks that Ozzie made a desperation trade for Evans because of Torrey's poor preseason.

However, now that Torrey had broken out to a nice serviceable WR, I think losing Lee Evans won't hurt much, but then his cap hit did cost us valuable money this year to sign any Big Free Agents.

Evans will be dropping passes from Tebow this year in Jacksonville. LOL!

If you know anything about that game, Bill Buckner was only the most memorable blunder of a string of mistakes that cost the Sox that game.

The same could be said for Lee.

No single player deserves all the blame for a loss in a TEAM SPORT.

Buckner got screwed in that game. His pitcher didn't even get off the mound, if I remember correctly, to cover 1st base. Buckner was also playing on mangled knees that entire series, gutting it out for his team.

Not unless the Jets sign Evans.

All he had to do was to get his feet down in bounds.

He did.

Yeah, my post was definitely poorly thought out, it was more out of emotion than anything. A more fitting analogy would be Jackie Smith in SB XIII.

I don't blame Webb for that play. It was Landry's blown assignment
I'm sorry when it's 3rd and 18 you dont let your man get behind you. Landry was late getting over, but that play was just as much on Webb.

Honestly I don't really see the need. WR isn't a position of need, at least from a starting POV - Torrey has solidified his place as the number 2. Q and Torrey are the starters, and we have Doss, Williams, Reed competing for 3-5 spots. Why are we going to bring back Lee to be the number 3 receiver when this team doesn't really use the number 3 receiver as much as it uses the second tight end? And I'll say it again, I would rather bring in a bigger vertical threat whose skills match the Coryell system. We really need another outside the numbers wide receiver, and at 5'10" I'd rather it not be Lee Evans.

WR is definitely a position of need. Probably our biggest need after OL. None of our young wideouts except Torrey have shown much on the field. Not to say there's nothing there...but its not like Lee was getting the snaps they would have for most of the season. They didn't produce, even if they were underutilized.

I would not bring back players that can't make Championship caliber plays .

Evan couldn't make that type of play, neither could Cundiff.

Thus, neither of these scrubs should come back to play for the Ravens.

i'm not against Lee coming back but i'm not gonna lie....his dropped game winning TD pass in the AFCCG that could have put us in the SB after a 11 years absence still pisses me off everytime i think about it....and even when i am not thinking about it! smh!

The worst play in the short history of the Ravens.

Lee seems like a really nice guy and I'm sure he feels as bad as anyone. But seeing him again in purple would only keep the memory of that play alive.

I'm sorry, but I can't buy into this. No matter the mistakes that were made up to that point, we positioned ourselves to win the game and Evans blew a whole season of sweat and effort with one lapse of concentration. Inexcusable for a veteran receiver.

It's safe to say we "seez em" differently.

He never really understood what we were competing for. We are a SB team. Not some chump bills team he is used to. He has a losers mentality. Seeing him visiting jags seems to hint he wants to fit into a system that he can play safetly, getting a paycheck after paycheck. He holds no value of winning.

Why is this thread still alive? It only makes us remember the game we are trying to forget.

I really hope Evans comes back. He frauded us, yes, but he will redeem. Boldin did the same thing in 2010 yet people still are in a love fest with him. Don't get it. I'd even have Evans starting over Boldin. I'm paying him top WR money and he gives me 800 yards and 3 TD's? lolwut? Now before everyone cries foul, I will say it has a lot to do with scheme, but even still.. his numbers should be better than that.

A lot of people seem to forget that SICK catch he made against the Texans to get us to the AFCCG. Drops happen, it's not an excuse, I'm just as mad as anyone about it. But dropped passes happen. He did make a sweet catch that got us to the AFCCG though.

I guess I didn't word what I was trying to say properly. We have our 2 starting wide receivers - the only reason Lee was traded for last year was because the front office didn't want to go into a season with a rookie who had limited offseason preparation as its starter. So we brought in Lee, but Torrey proved in Week 3 that he was ready to be a starter in the NFL. We're going into next season knowing Q is number 1 and Torrey is number 2. Therefore we don't need to worry about singing an expensive veteran receiver to fill a void we don't have, a starter. We have 2-3 guys in Doss, Williams, and maybe Reed that will be fighting for the number 3 spot, and we will no doubt draft a guy, but it doesn't have to be a guy who's ready to step in and be a starter day 1 - we can afford to take a shot on a raw route runner like a Brian Quick. We don't have to reach for Stephen Hill in the first round. We can draft a developmental guy and groom him, like the Giants did with Victor Cruz and Kevin Walter.

No Way should the Ravens bring back Evans.
Last year he wasn't healthy enough from the start. Then he drops the go-ahead-for-the-win catch in the AFC championship game!
Good riddance...
