What About Steinbach?

22 posts in this topic

Cleveland let him go
Steinbach was one of the best guards, prior to him getting injuried.
Does anybody know what his health issue is?
Would he be a good fit with the Ravens?

if he was fully recovered he would be a great pick up, however back surgery and oline men isnt a good sign, he could be done, he may not be

Same thing people said about Gaither. Him and McNeal are huge risks. I am a risk taker, and they both come cheap. Mabey we will be risk takers this offseason

No, he wasn't. His play had completely fallen off and he would've likely been cut even without the injury.

I think Steinbach is worth a look. Him, Brown are two guys I am interested in having here. Not sure if we should sign them. We at least should bring them in for an interview, though.

Reading the Browns' forum, the fans' consensus was that, if he was healthy, they wanted Steinbach back. His negatives were that he is 31, coming off surgery, and was signed for $7,428,571.

IF he's healthy, he is worth a look... but not at THAT money.

Why not just put a sled at LG and hope for the best, the dummy will come cheaper. Just say no, I would rather put Oher or Boren out there. No need to over pay or in this case pay for him to play when there is no upside and he's not that reliable in the first place. Moat like bring people in through the draft and bust there tails off during camps.

i have a feeling we like a guy in the second or third round at guard. If we miss on our guy, we bring gurode back and plug him in at guard

I'd rather train Oher or Reid to take the spot. Forget about drafting a guard in the early rounds.

you can't just go into training camp just praying that one of them is successful at a position they've had no experience at.

Has everyone seemed to forget that Gurode was an NFL top 100 player in 2011.....everyone seems to think he's some scrub, the dude can play ball, he was just in his 1st year learning the system. He may be incredible this year if given an opportunity.

Gurode may be back after the draft. We need to evaluate what we have and what we pick up first.

Steinbach isn't nearly the player he once was and Gurode was overmatched as a LG when he had to fill in. He was a pretty good option at Center though.

In terms of free agent options. Jake Scott is still out there. Played as well as or even better than Grubbs last year.

In terms of the draft, we have the Konz option, but also could draft Jonathan Martin if he falls more. Martin in my opinion has the ability to be a pro bowl LG who could also be our LT if need be.

In the 3rd round, we could also get Joe Looney or James Brown, both who could probably start right away.

I rather have Cordy Glenn, Peter Konz (one year at LG), or Kevin Zeitler.
[/quote]

Zeitlerrrrrr! I'd pass on Konz with his injury history. Center depth is great in this draft, and we already had Bruce Gradkowski's younger bro visit us. He was an All-American at DELAWARE no less
