He turned down 24mil/3yr deal offered from the 49ers, but from Yahoo source his agent greedy Condone was screwing him and Jim up when Jim and Alex were agreed to stay together.


If the 49ers didn't get Manning, they will end up without starting QB or they can forget the mishap and redeal with Alex.


PS: Only fools can turn down 8mil/yr unless you are a super star Drew, Rodgers, Manning or Brady.....

Well Seattle signed Flynn earlier today, so where else is Alex going to go?

Someone else said (I think in the Free Agent thread) that Smith needs Harbaugh a lot more than Jim needs Alex.

I mean 8 mil a year for 3 years isnt bad if it was a longer contract I could see the prob. He may want close to 9 or 10 mill a year.

If the 49ers miss out on Manning and Smith, They still have Colin Kaepernick to start fresh with. Harbaugh is pretty good at working with QB's and can make Colin work to fit his system after studying it for a year. Smith won't be too heavy of a loss.

He has started in the league, just five games I think.

Very mobile QB and of course was with Harbaugh in San Diego

If Harbaugh can turn Smith around the way he did in a shortened offseason, I see no reason why Kaepernick couldn't do the same thing. Apparently though, Smith wants to return to San Francisco unless Peyton Manning signs with the 49ers. Sucks for the Fins. They're looking at David Garrard now.

its the three years he doesnt want, the money isnt the issue

I totally forgot about the long term career; he wants insurance and future career for his family too. What if after 3 yr, he got injured and never got paid for starting salary. Stable career is what most of us want.....

However, I don't think the 49ers are sold on Smith's abillity for more than 3yr; he proved nothing in his 8yr as starting QB.

I guess Miami will try to sign Smith and the 49ers will try to negociate to sign Tebow....

Jim Harbaugh is good at molding QBs and all...but Tebow? Lil Harbs would need a miracle.

Jacksonville - they need to sell tickets, and Tebow is huge in Florida, Jacksonville in particular, because it's so close to Gainesville and UF.
