Vote For The 2000 Ravens (Voting Closed, Raiders win Championship)

503 posts in this topic

Hey Y'all,
Keep this in mind. I know we typically like to make a last push in the last few hours. But I have been watching our competition for the last few rounds, and the last two times the Raiders fans have also made big last pushes as well. I do not think that we should be behind by tomorrow morning, otherwise their surge may cancel ours out.

Please, everybody, lets get to 51% our favor by midnight tonight to ensure THEY have an up hill battle.

I'm voting allllllllll day. :)

If you have more than one web browser and/or slow internet, open up all your browsers to that page and vote!

I think that you are absolutely right about that.

I'll be working over night tonight so I can probably catch up while most of you are catching Z's... but there is one major problem. I can't for the life of me figure out how to vote on my phone.

That slider used to cast your vote uses jquery or something similar, so you'll need to make sure your phone's browser has javascript enabled...depending on your phone/browser, you may not be able to vote. If you can, try installing firefox on your phone

I have Java enabled on my Palm Pre, but I only have a blank area where the slider should be. :( It's also telling me that the teams are both 50% so something is clearly wrong.

Thanks for trying... man, this could be such a golden opportunity. There still another chance though, my kindle has 3g so I'll see what it can do. And there's always the remote possibility of figuring out the wifi passcode, but I haven't yet had success with that.

I just voted about 150 times, and I'll keep going. They still hold a 4% lead at Noon Est, but it was 5% an hour ago when I first looked. Inching closer to the greatest team of all time.

It's probably already been discussed, but 11 pages is too many :P

Does anyone know if it actually works to vote more than once? If I made a poll like that, I would register the IP so only 1 vote would count.

a lot of people get the two confused, but java and javascript are two totally different things...just to make sure, did you check the javascript settings?

I'm sorry. I'm clearly one of "those people." I have javascript "on."

Thanks to this nifty little page that told me how... and you of course, for telling me that I should.

I'm looking into something called "prefox" which is supposed to be firefox for the palm pre.

Edit: Apparently, in order to figure out how to install it, I'm supposed to be a "bit of a Palm homebrew enthusiast" which is not a part of my vocabulary.

You can vote as many times as you want by refreshing the page or, more effectively, by doing this:

Okay.  Lets get the 2000 team the respect they deserve.

1.  Go to nfl.com
2.  Hold down the "Ctrl" key and keep clicking the, "Can '00 Ravens continue run vs. '84 49ers?"
3.  Wait a few seconds for like 50 tabs to load (*It will also load the voting templates..just be patient*)
4.  Be like Rambo with a machine gun.

Got us back to 50/50 this way.

All right, I will vote 20 times between 2-3 am from work for anyone who can figure out how to make my Palm Pre (webOS 1.4.5) ATT1.1 function on the voting page (in addition to the voting that I would normally do, of course).

I also have a kindle keyboard 3g which I can sort of use, but it seems to only want to hit the circle wherever it is (ie, I can't seem to drag the mouse to Ravens side). However, if we can get it to the Ravens side, I can at least maintain it overnight.

Thanks... I know how to refresh a page. But that wasn't the question...

A real poll would register the IP, so that no matter how many times you re-do the vote, it only registers your first one as the real one.
Or in some cases, repeating the voting process, it would render all your votes invalid.

So the question was: Does anyone know if it actually registers all the votes 1 IP does?
("I voted 200 times and it shifted 1%" is not a valid answer)

That's a good question, and unfortunately I don't know the answer but my guess is that you can vote multiple times because that seems to be how NFL.com does things. They tell you that you can vote again for players of the week, best fantasy video or whatever, and the probowl.

Multiple voting seems to be their MO, but like I said I'm not certain.

Oh I see what you're saying now. I want to think it counts all the votes 'cause otherwise, I've just been wasting my time haha.

In private browsing (and all of it's other incarnations) doesn't save the IP address, right? Maybe it's worth using... just in case.

I don't know the exact answer, but it wouldn't make sense to have a poll like this one where you could only vote once where some of these teams' fanbase is much larger than others. It would give a totally unfair advantage to those franchises like the Steelers, Cowboys, Raiders, and others alike.

We will tie this thing up before long and then we need to kick it into over drive tomorrow afternoon.

I think the counter takes some time to re-adjust. Like when the voting closed yet the Ravens ended up as 53% favorites last time. If you vote a hundred times now, it will probably be counted 10-20 minutes from when you actually voted. Maybe even an hour.

Remember,in 2000 they counted us out all season. But we still prevailed. Then counted the 2000 Ravens out this whole poll, and we still prevailed. Were the ultimate underdogs for real.

52/48 we're closing the gap.

Apparently the Raiders fans have woken up now. Back up to 53/47. C'mon guys! We can do this!
