Vote For The 2000 Ravens (Voting Closed, Raiders win Championship)

503 posts in this topic

That's a real shame... I can't help but feel like I could have voted an extra hr or 2 and pushed it over the top , but honestly no one thought we would beat any of the teams that we did. We definitely proved our fan base is dedicated and we care about our team.

Hey we fought our hearts out for our team. Thats what matters most. Would have been nice to get the W for the Ravens though.

Btw, it wouldn't be very hard to make a bot for something like this. But that would be cheap...we couldn't say we are better fans if we didnt put the work in for it

If either team didn't deserve to be in the finals it was the Raiders. Are you telling me the best team ever was in 1976? Like there hasn't been any improvement in the technique of the game, the complicated designs of offenses and defenses, the physical build of the players due to modern sports science, the refinement of positions, and overall knowledge of the game? At least the Ravens' nomination makes sense, that is to fans of football who don't just whine "Dilfer!" because they think a quarterback means everything. To the 2000 Ravens, QB was just another position. And where the Ravens lacked in quarterbacking, they made up in the ground game. But you never hear about run games anymore. Defense wins championships, so it's only natural that the best defense in history should win the championship. Raiders were just your average Super Bowl winner. They weren't the best at anything in 1976 except record and they certainly weren't the best of all time.

I just think it a little odd that it took approx. 2 hrs. for the voting to be completed from the semi-final round but this was all totalled and done in 59 minutes or less? That was the time on the NFL twitter announcement 5:59. If they had rounded the vote it would have been tied. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, my mind was just wondering a little. Also wondered about what the actual vote count difference was between the percentages.

I just so wanted to win this one for Ray and the organization. I guess right now I kinda feel a little bit of what the guys must feel when they lose. I hope fans will not be so discouraged as to not vote in other polls and contests in the future. We will get 'em next time! At least it may have brought our fanbase closer. But it was a valiant effort by the Ravens Nation, great job Ravens fans! Ya'll are the best!!!
Well said. Ravens Nation came together like never before during this poll and I loved the little bit of drama. Maybe we did make it further than we should have, but no question the Ravens beat down that Raiders team. Either way the 2000 Ravens would have gave any team in this bracket a run for their money and definitely earned their place among the greats of all time. Cheers to you Ravens fans!

I'd much rather it be a blowout than a freaking .4% difference. Kinda mad but we beat the '72 Phins and '84 49ers who were MUCH better than the '76 Raiders no doubt.

Way to show the world what an awesome fanbase we have, flock!! :)

Dawww! Welcome back, hon. :)
I hope you stick with us this time around at least until the start of the season once "the best Raiders QB of all-time" starts tossing around INTs left and right.

Still can't believe we made it all the way to the finals with that offense. If only this incarnation of our offense could be paired with that defense.

Hey we came pretty close and I think we all know that neither the '76 Raiders or the 2000 Ravens really deserve to be voted as best team of all time.

I'd rather lose a poll than have a football team that has little success in real life...like the Raiders for example. :)

IMO it really should have been one of those 49ers teams. The '84 version was 2nd in points scored and 1st in points allowed. Not to mention, Ken Stabler was a very good QB, but Montana and that 80s 49ers offense was ridiculous.

I tried my best to vote in the Ravens.. Honestly really feel in my heart that there is no defensive performance in the history of the NFL to match the 2000 Ravens...

How can you even say who? That's the secondary of the 4th ranked passing defense in the NFL and 3rd in total defense. Are you kidding me?! You know your Raiders had the 27th passing defense, right?
