We have widening cap room. If the FO was to retain people at the right price, it can do it. If not, the price isn't right.

Dummies they ain't. It's not like they'll get to the end of the off-season and suddenly realize their prices were unrealistically low.

Only once our time of the off-season is here - when guys like Vonta Leach are attracted - will I (for one) have some vision of what's going on.

what are peoples thoughts on this the pats have 2 second round picks,(via saints) and we need a lot of players to fill the holes of lost players, and to fill the holes of players filling holes. we could trade our 1 round for those 2, get a decent olb, dt, or wide r, then with our number 29, grab harrison smith, and with the pats 31, mabey a tackle or well i dont no. As you could see that could fill a lot of holes. ( note positions can change around depending on fa)

Ok...i was uneasy with the free agents we lost so far but understanding...Now you're telling me the ravens brass let BOTH backup safeties go? I hate seeing either one of them leave b/c they're both awesome. I've always trusted in Ozzie and continue to do so...but this one just irks me a little.

Well let's look on the bright side this creates more cap room to sign Rice to a long term deal or Webb. We will make a splash it'l just be in the draft. We need to get faster on defense and a physical big reciever on offense. I know Ozzie has a plan.. '')

All of a sudden the safety position has become a need in the draft. I thought we were going to re-sign either Nakamura or Zibby but not lose both. And the bad thing is the safety position is not a strong class in this years draft. I can see Ozzie trading down to collect more picks to add depth to our roster. PLEASE SIGN McCLAIN BACK!!!

Never really liked Zibby, so this signing does not scream 4 help. He was always hurt last yr anyways. I'm really upset that we lost Nakamura cause he is the 1 that I thought we should retain.... Anyway good luck Zibby!!!

Zibby was a very critical part to our defense. He was a great back up and a solid starter. There is a reason why Pagano wanted him. Also, this does scream for help since our only back up safety is Cook, who wasn't even on our active roster.

Are you telling me that our backups are better than the Steeler starters? How the heck does Zybi and Haruki get snatched up before William Gay and K. Lewis of the Steelers. Why aren't other teams going after them-its not like the Steelers can afford to keep them in house.

The Ravens draft better than any nfl team.Our back-up players are better than most starters.Its easy for them to let the ravens sign them first and than steal them later?

What a shame. I really like both our back up safety, and now we don't have either of them. Well, Hopefully Reed and Pollard can stay healthy.

Free agency is a long process. Remember, there will be quality players released right up to and including the preseason. The Ravens will be ready and able to fill any holes in the roster before the season starts.

If you overpay in the early part of free agency, you will regret it. (Think Washington)

i think, if you're a good coach you can do good things with the current players in your team so there's no need to dismantle your former team

I understand why Haruchi and Zibby wanted to leave; they are competitors and are looking for starting roles. Hope they get them. And the Ravens weren't going to overpay for backups. However, this does leave s
important holes as of now. We have no safety depth and both were really good special teamers. I'm sure Oz will do well by us, but we needed to seriously upgrade special teams and it is now even harder.

in my wildest dreams, i would like to see Harrison Smith in black and purple... though i really think he would go in the early second round.
