I'm glad some guys are going to Indy instead of the Jets. I wish Johnson went to Indy. I don't have anything against Indy so I'd like to see people we can't keep go there. I just don't want Rex taking anyone, I've lost so much respect for him.

these are guys who would be bench riders otherwise. All we have to worry about is finding our next future Ed Reed. Nakamura and Zibby were good backups, did their job well went called upon, but they were never gonna be the answer when #20 retires. Ozzie's job is to find that next guy in a couple years and find viable backups in the interim. relax people

As for those fans who are in the state of panic that we haven't yet bought half of the FA-stock, let me quote Billick from nfl.com:

"As we move into the second stage of the signing period, prices become much more reasonable. This is the time when teams can be much more prudent about the players they acquire and how they plan to build their roster moving forward. By filling in roster holes with second-tier free agents, teams are free to draft the best available football player rather than reaching based off need.

Traditionally, this period is when the consistently great teams do their shopping. "

I knew it was only a matter of time before Chuck takes more of our guys. We've survived this in the past so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

Just another guy who wanted money over winning. Good luck chuck and all the former ravens. Losing will be so enjoyable...
I guess he rather wanted top play more and start more. And in that respect he probably did the right thing. Zbikowski, IMHO, was simply not good enough a football player to become a solid starter in Baltimore. Here he would have stayed a backup forever. We'll see how well he'll fit in Indianapolis, how much more playtime and starts he'll have. All the best to him, especially against our direct rivals

Good-bye to a tough guy who will get a lot more playing time in Indy. Always came ready to play, but is a career back-up at the end of the day. Good luck Zibby.

I really liked Zibby but I didn't see him as any more than a good backup here. He's good but just not good enough for the Ravens. He'll shine in Indy though! :-)
I am curious on who they plan on grooming in his place.

I hope Ozzie has some good plans in place. I was hoping the Ravens would have been able to keep one of the backup safeties.

Looks like the lone Center from Harvard made the smartest move of the day. Glad to see Birk back. He can train up his replacement this season and get them off to a good start.

I don't know why everyones making such a big deal about a few free agents leaving. Thats what happens when you draft well. Next man up! Gubbs is the only player that we don't have a replacement for on the current roster and they're obviously working on that...they brought Mathis in didn't they?

Plus, everyone is forgetting about all the compensatory draft picks we'll get in 2013. And we all know what the Wizard of Oz can do with lots of draft picks.

Sometimes free agency can suck. I hope this means the Panthers and Colts will respectively start winning more games now that they've got some of our players.

"Ravens LB Jameel McClain has completed his visit with the Denver Broncos, according to a league source."

... and apparently didn't have a signed contract in hand (which I'm pretty sure is a good thing).

Garbage Duck, those were unrestricted free agents so there will be no compensatory picks. You only get those for restricted free agents.

Whoa. Who here thought Zibby was going to start here next year. He wants to play, just like Haruki. You cannot blame them for wanting to start on other teams, because they weren't starting here. Add to that the Salary Cap and losing everyone so far has not been a shocker. We have replacements everywhere, except Guard. And, if you stop looking at the Ravens, but at the league as a whole, the Salary Cap makes it go this way. You try to get the best player for the money that fits in your cap, not the best player period. No team can afford that. It does blow that Mathis isn't already signed here.
of course you can't! i wouldn't want to keep sitting on the bench either so if i am allowed to test the free agency market hoping that another team will value me...then i'd do it to!! it's the nature of the business! good luck to both of them!

yep! just another guy that was valued more by another team with an opportunity to start and take care of his own family! what a horrible thing! you cats in here crack me up with this holier than thou attitude about players leaving because they were offered more money talk! you'd leave to! smh! lol!

SCREW the Pagano's!! if chuck would haven't left we would still have alot of our free agents!! He also talked with his brother and told him what pickens he should take!! Oz should put in coaches contracts that they can't take our players with them if there hired for HC positions.I mean this is worse than when Rex Ryan left!!

I liked all the guys that left but i kinda like losing'em, we can start fresh and maybe get a nice bargain WR and Mathis in free agency, and if we have extra maybe pickup a cheap safety, this may have raised the round we'll get a safety in, 1st maybe now that Birks signed, or if we trade back we could get safety and ilb in 1st and WR in 2nd, vice versa
