Haruki To Panthers

35 posts in this topic

Bittersweet.

Though Ruki was a great guy, a pretty solid back up and great on special teams, he never took over a starting position even when Reed was injured or when it was just Zibi and him competing for SS after Landry left before Pollard was brought in. He really didn't have a chance to get more playing time in this organization, I'll miss him, like ive said, he is a great guy and from what ive heard a great guy in the lockerroom.

I am very happy for him that he has a shot to start. I wish the best to him.

He deserved to go to a place where he could get more PT.

Safety depth is also unknown. Where will Zibby go? Can Emmanuel Cook serve as a 2nd-stringer?

[profanity deleted] Luck Ruki.

We will be fine, just another case of other teams coveting our depth and paying more than street value to get it.

This is the feeding frenzy portion of FA, when the desperate teams are out there just tossing buckets of money around. The Ravens never get involved in that. We will wait until it all quiets down, then go and pick up some choice morsels for a bargain.

Hate to see him go, he has been one of my favorite players the last few years. He deserves more playing time than he was getting here though so I don't blame him at all. If he wins a starting job, I think he'll be solid for the Panthers. Good luck Haruki, I'll always remember you pointing out Reggie Brown pre-snap to make sure Reed noticed on his record INT return for a TD in '08.

I liked Ruki too but he was at the bottom of the depth chart for a reason. Good luck to him. I think we'll be fine.

Noooooo!!! I've always liked Haruki

So did I, great ball skills and zone awareness. It'll be interesting to see how he does as a starter.

Yea, I hope he gets to start. Will be watching him to see what he was capable of. Wish him the best. You can't be mad at someone for wanting to play more.

Good Luck Haruki! Hope you do well in Carolina, he deserved a chance to start. As much as I love Pollard, I'm still amazed that Haruki and Zibby didn't have a shot to compete for the SS job. To everyone over reacting to losing Haruki, he would have never started here in Baltimore with Reed & Pollard in place, so he went somewhere he has a chance to start.

Well this allows us to add some fresh young blood behind Pollard and maybe someone who can be our long term answer at SS(maybe Mark Barron?).

This now leaves a lot of question marks in the draft. Will it be LB, S or WR in the first? Not sure where I want us to go.

Struggle in any scheme except a Cov 2 based defense which I think Carolina runs so he'll be ok there. I never really understood the love for him as a player. Phenomenal ST's player, but he didn't do much in the limited playing time he did get. I never liked him in man coverage, struggles to flip his hips and run with a receiver. He'll be an average starter in my opinion.

We'll find some late round safety to plug in as depth. If you look at it, if he can play on special teams then he'll do what Nakamura did here for 3 years.

Congratz to Haruki. I hope he turns out to do well. Just cant step up next to the HOF ed reed unfortunately.

And thanks for not being a chump and going to AFC colts like the rest of the crew!

True, he wasn't that great in man coverage, but he could play zone very well. I'm pretty sure Carolina does run a Cover 2 so Nakamura should be in okay shape.

Wish him the best, he wasn't in the best situation to play, and he wanted that shot. I think he's a starting caliber safety, but it's hard to start when Reed, Zibby, Dawan, and Pollard play your position.

Good for Ruki. He was one of my favorite Ravens. He'll no doubt get a lot of work in the NFC South - I mean we like to think we pass a lot in the AFC North, but in terms of passing yards all four of those quarterbacks had at least 350 yards per game.

Wow. 3 year deal for 4.8M. Average of 1.6M a year. Lol, we would be lucky to get a 7th round comp pick for him.

I will miss Haruki. I liked his personality. He deserves a shot to start, though

He was one of my favorite players. I wish him well. Plus as mentioned earlier, he went
to the NFC and not a division or conference rival.

Good luck Haruki!
On a sidenote, I've always wondered. Who would win in a fight: Zbikowski vs. Haruki?
Um...Zibby boxed professionally. I think your question is a bit of a no-brainer.
