Free Agency Signing "guessing" Thread

34 posts in this topic

let's have some fun around here with this thread.

Question: "which free agent would be your "guess"that the Raven may sign?"

my inital guess would be L.T. because the Ravens FO seems to like veteran backs to support Ray Rice (i.e. McGahee, Williams etc.). plus, L.T. seems to be a classy cat.

Clark will be cheap being 32 and coming off a down year, and he's the only remaining FA TE who is a proven deep threat.

Ok I'll be honest I just don't like Ed Dickson.

Cedric Benson.

The NFL network people think this would be a good sign for us to have Mr Benson as Ray Rice's backup,i agree if he comes in cheap.

I could only see us signing him or any RB in that matter until after we've seen more from Allen because lets face it, Allen is cheaper.

I agree that Allen deserves a chance to be the number 2 RB. We could always pick up someone near the end of preseason if he isn't ready yet.

Mathis, Winston and Brown. Do that and we draft Mike Adams in the First.

ive been pulling or him since mid season when i found out he would be a free agent and the bengals didnt want him back.i think we could get him for the same money Ricky was set to make this year.

They've already said that Anthony Allen is going to get to try and earn the backup gig. I highly doubt we bring in an RB unless he does terribly in training camp

I can understand why but if you at his numbers he had a pretty good year. With an off season I think he comes back strong next year.

I am guessing Mathis will be the only FA signing before the draft.

Kamerion Wimbley, OLB. He probably wants a lot of money so its unlikely we would sign him, but he would be a massive upgrade at OLB if we could somehow fit him under the cap. Not sure if there is any interest though.

If we had the money, then I'd sign Wallace. Can you imagine how Smith, Boldin, and Wallace would do in 3 receiver sets?

Bold Prediction: Kamerion Wimbley

Realistic Ones: Mathis, Birk(Already signed), Ted Ginn, McClain, Brandon Jacobs

picks up
mathis, brown, ginn - ginn would help as KR/PR and royal is off the market. mathis is no brainer and brown is a back up plan for birk. sort of like how we got gurode last year.

get mcclain back - pushes need for ILB for the draft to the backburner, especially not in the 1st round at least.
re-sign webby - he played too well to not get a contract.
keep flacco on hold and let rice play through the tag. we don't have the money to pay both.
save WR for the draft (hill, wright, childs, streeter, etc)

The Reasonable Move:
Jameel McClain - Cause his market is slow and there's a lot of ILB out in the market, so his price will be affordable

The Possible Move:
Anthony Collins - Backup player with the ability to start, he can provide depth for us in key positions (LT, RT, G), so we can focus our money elsewhere (QB, RB, CB)

The Stars Aligned:
Evan Mathis - Even though the Eagles threatened to bid for him, he decided Baltimore will be his new place. He's considered underrated, which means he'll cost much less than Grubbs. If we get him for around ($5-6 Million), it will be considered a good signing.

The Long Shot:
Kamerion Wimbley - You can never go wrong with pass rushers, since it's a passing league now. I think we can afford his contract if it is not too unreasonable. Investing $7 Million for a solid OLB, who can actually generate pass rush may give us the two tandem we always dreamed of. Suggs and Wimbley could be the new Harrison and Woodley, with the good news that Wimbley could be affordable. However, if he wants big money ($9+ M), then I guess we have to go with Kruger and Kindle.

The Dark Horse:
Stephen Tulloch - We somehow land one of the best ILB in the game to form one of the best ILB Corps of the game, who can provide the leadership and intensity after the Ray Lewis Era.

I'm saying Mathis. I think he will come to the Ravens for a reasonable price, good for both sides, and really help with some of our offensive line questions.

I'm crossing my fingers. A little worried of the fact that he went home to mull it over.

umm...his market wasn't as "slow" as you thought cause as soon as he hit it (the market) another team snatched him up! that just goes to show you that what one team "undervalues" another team "values."

Brandon Jacobs would make an easy transition to our ballclub and this division. Perfect complement for Rice
