Wizards Trade Javale Mcgee For Nene ?

15 posts in this topic

I just saw this posted on ESPN, if its true I am kind of disappointed. McGee is very immature still but I thought he had potential as he grew older and his body matured.

I'm not a big Wizards fan by any means but I do keep track of them, they are trying to build thru the draft but haven't had much success....I thought McGee would be one of the best Centers in the league in a few years. Sure he is goofy as hell but still...idk, if this is true I guess Nene is a decent player.

Wall needs some more NBA level talent to play with...drafting Jan Vesely was a mistake

So, apparently:

Nuggets receive:
Javale McGee
Ronnie Turiaf

Wizards receive:
Nene
Brian Cook
2nd round pick from the Clippers

Clippers receive:
Nick Young

I'm upset with the McGee trade. Really upset. As you said in your OP, if McGee gets it together, the sky is the limit for him. In exchange, we get Nene who is an aging injury-prone guy. It's not like we're built to win now so why make this deal?

The Nick Young trade I like. He is gone after this year so anything you add via a trade is a plus.

What I don't understand is people trying to defend McGee. All he has are measurables. He'll occasionally give you a 20-10 night, but the rest of the time he's making himself look like a fool. There's a video out there with all of his stupid antics, but I refuse to find it. Almost lost all my damn hair the first time I watched it.

Dude hasn't matured in 4 years, he's clearly delusional demanding $14m/yr, and surrounds himself with idiots who inflate his ego. He's never gonna live up to his potential. Not at this rate. Good riddance.

I'm not gonna pretend he's a finished product as he needs a lot of work aside from his maturity issues but now that he's in a team that can pile up wins and contend, he might pull it together and reach the next level.

Chris Webber, Rip Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace. I'm used to that happening. I don't care what he does in Denver. I just wanted him off my team. His work ethic was garbage and he never listened to coaches. His mentality was a cancer to a very young team.

Its not like these trades will improve the team, McGee has all the tools to be a really good player, he's just young and immature

Its almost not his fault, Andray Blatche is a bad influence...the Wizards culture of losing and maybe the coaching isnt what he needed

I thought McGee had potential to grow with John Wall, I really like Trevor Booker too, he's solid

so now the Wizards nucleus of young players is Wall, Booker....and not much else

I don't get it, dude. I just don't get where you're coming from. I was blinded by rage at your first two lines of defending the kid. Maybe it's because you see what the general public sees, I dunno. But lemme tell you, when you follow them like I do watching somewhere around 75 games per season, you see what players really got. Bottom line is, dude can't ball.

It's as obvious to me as it is all of you noticing Cam Cameron's faults. Really.

McGee is like the dumbest player in the NBA lol.
I think he has a lot of potential but just doesnt fit in WSH.
Everything is great about getting Nene except for the contract he comes with plus his duribility.
I think Young to the clippers is real good for them. He would have left WSH at the end of the year anyway.

Good trade for all parties, but Wizards would be the losers if there were one.
(But they were losers to begin with) lol.

I was fine with this trade. Both Young and McGee were in the last year of their contracts, no telling if they would want to come back here anyway. McGee is immature, yeah he may have potential, but he isn't someone to help build a team around. And Young is just Young.

Nene is all-star caliber. Cook will probably be waived.

Rumors are, we will probably amnesty Blatche after this year, freeing up even more money. And then maybe we will go after someone, it'd be nice anyway.

I don't see how the Wizards are the "losers" of this trade, giving away a guy who has a crappy attitude (McGee) and a guy who probably wasn't going to come back to us after this year anyway in Young. We may not have won this trade for our future, considering Nene is a few years older, but we didn't lose this trade either.

Love this trade. McGee and Young are imbeciles. Nene is a massive upgrade IMO and McGee was probably going to bolt anyway because the Wizards aren't dumb enough to pay him top dollar. Now all they have to do is find a way to get rid of Blatche.

McGee has issues, and I think that's putting it mildly. Jordan Crawford has played well this year and is an improvement over the black hole that is Nick Young. Vesely and Singleton are both young, but have shown potential as has Kevin Seraphin. Throw in a high lottery pick in next years very deep draft and things are looking up.

The Wizards have PROBLEMS....They should've tried to trade Wall for Rondo a month ago. Mcgee had all kinds of potential more on the upside than down...

I think Javale Mcgee will turn it around in Denver. I wont lie I dont follow the wizards too much (I am trailblazers fan so im sad my team blew itself up without B.Roy), but I have followed Mcgee and if theres a team that can develop him into a true center its probably the nuggets. My only question is are the nuggets a strong enough team to keep him in check and focused on doing everything he can to help the team win. They dont have a real team leader stepping up right now and taking charge of the team, we shall see how that turns out.
