I feel like perhaps I should clarify. I am not worried that we did not seek out the big value FAs. I'm not even worried that a lot of our guys went out the door. I'm concerned about the Grubbs situation, mainly because there really is no "next man up" to be had at the moment. Not sure I have a lot of confidence in a rookie G. I might not even be worried at all if we did not have the schedule we have next season. It's a fairly tough one on face value.

What does concern me is that Grubbs dumped us for what amounted to $3 mil and a signing bonus while I read of numerous other teams' players restructuring and offering hometown discounts. Do you know the Steelers did not lose one single person to FA? Now, you can argue that our guys had more value, but...really...no one wanted a single Steeler? Or did they just decide to stay there?

One season does not make it a trend so perhaps it is just coincidental and the nature of this particular FA but it does concern me a bit.

I am excited to see McPhee get more snaps and I do believe Kruger has a lot of potential. For Kindle it is put up or get out IMO. I want to see Doss/Williams get their shot at that #3 position rather than trying to bring in another FA WR even on the cheap unless they are more for ST. We need a G though. And a good one because our O line really suffered without Grubbs.

What are you thinking as far as the Steelers not losing any men to FA? What do believe the relavance is? As far as Grubbs, he did say he would go to a place that offered him the biggest paycheck, so if the Saints offered more, then this is no surprise. Most of the others that left did so because they either wanted to get more playing time or knew that we could not afford to bring them back. I do not think this is "rats leaving a sinking ship" situation.

I agree, the G position is a bit disquieting, but we have a long time to deal with it. I will not be concerned until it is a week from the first regular season game and we havent dealt with it. That could be a problem. Until then, it is just business as usual.

Am I the only one who is wondering why Jake Scott's name hasn't been brought up with the Ravens, or any time in the NFL for that matter? I personally think he would be a great fit for the line. Although he played RG, he has experience at LG.

No one is in panic imo lol. We are already stocked much more than any other team in both areas. Just address the needs : which are OL, pass rush and were good imo.

I would have to disagree, just look around these forums and read some comments...the window is closed, I don't feel good about the 2012 Ravens, etc...haha, its every year people are in panic mode

I'm glad I have such a firm understanding of how things go around here, if I was lacking in knowledge maybe I would be worried too, now I'm not hating on any fans who are panicking..they can do that, we all care about this team..I just know and have faith in one of the best front offices and personnel men in the league...I'm seen this movie before and in the end the Ravens always come out looking pretty good

No I wasn't think of a sinking ship thing...just bugs me I guess that it seems like players on other teams are willing to restructure and give hometown discounts. I know we lost players to FA and it's part of the salary cap era and stuff. Just seems like our home grown players did not even give us any leeway at all and players for other teams have done so for their home teams. Not really thinking anything...it just sits there and gnaws at me for some reason.

I don't follow College football at all...so to be honest I am uncertain if there is a promising prospect at G in the draft.

At this point some may feel confident in what Ozzie is doing and many may not. I feel waiting for bargain deals ends up biting you unless you just get simply lucky. We were blessed to snag pollard just after training camp opened but one should learn things may not always work out so fortunate. I am in no way being negative but Ray Rice is probably gonna be one of the top payed rb in the league which is not cheap. Leaving what may feel like crumbs to fill in the needed positions. The ravens do not seem to really have a need to worry with the talented depth they have. But WR are so important in the stretch and to lack in this field any can hurt you. Boldin we love you but can you stay healthy? Smith is gonna be great enough said. But who can fill this 3 rd spot? Doss some believe but what if not? We need an additional speedy threat. Whoever the addition is he must be a deap threat as well to spread the field. Boldin Can give corners trouble but enough trouble and speed needed to spread the defense out no I dont believe so. The addition must be a fast one wether it be an internal promotion or a bargained player.

No. We're not. We do this every offseason, and we've had 4 winning seasons in 4 years. 4 deep playoff runs. Heck, we even have 5 in 6 years if you wanna delve back to 2006. I have no concern. If you know anything about the recent history of this team and how this front office operates, you wouldn't have concern either.

Panic leads to fear. Fear to hatred. Hatred to the darkside.

Actually the fear leads to panic, but whatever.

It's also a fact that the team doesn't do much in Free Agency. People like you worry over nothing. They freak out over losing players but don't realize we have replacements in place already, Ozzie knows what he is doing.

What are they gambling? Its not like you can wave a magic wand and "lock" a deal.

We lost more starters at harder to fill positions last season and progressed further. The only void on the team right now is at Left Guard....you're ridiculous. Don't be "numb."
