Grubbs Likely To Sign W/ Saints

57 posts in this topic

He is currently visiting New Orleans (via Adam Schefter). With the Saints losing Nicks to the Bucs earlier today they desperately look to fill the void left by Nicks. I hate to say it but the grumblings around the league indicate Grubbs/NO will likely go through. The string of FA's leaving baltimore today will likely push Ozzie to make some moves perhaps a little earler than he wanted to this year.

Opinions on impact on Draft/FA assuming Grubbs will sign with the Saints?

Now maybe we'll move Oher to OG where he belongs and draft Mike Adams!
I dunno why that was negged. That's a very good point. I think it would be very affordable and efficient to have Oher at LG and Reid at RT

Yeah, I always thought that Oher would be better as a OG in the NFL. I actually think he'd play really well there, and he'd be great value.

His size, athleticism, and skillset is perfect for it. I'm just curious if Reid has the lateral agility and footwork to play RT in a zone-blocking scheme, and to not get Joe killed.

I'm not sold on Jah either. If he doesn't pan out at RT, he has no future in the league. But hopefully that won't be the case

If Reid doesn't have the feet for it, Oher may have to stay at RT.

I dont think the Saints have much more room than we have to sign Grubbs after tagging Brees and giving a hefty contract to Colston. Hopefully, Grubbs will see the light and remain in Baltimore. New Orleans also has that bounty-gate debacle to worry about. It's not a place I would want to sign.

Oher always seemed like he would be a beast guard to me. Move him see how he does and throw Reid in. As much as I don't like Oher at rt I think if he played well he wouldn't demand a huge contract at g when when his current contract is up.

Mike Adams = Bust
19 bench reps and we should trust him to guard one of the most important positions in all of sports. Would you trust an oompa loompa as your armed security? Also, I don't trust Ohio state players, not many pan out well for how many get drafted. Maybe raven was being sarcastic...

plus breeze is pissed about the franchise tag. Their FO is taking care of that situation first.

You agree we should have made a move for Draw Breeze as well? He doesn't seem happy with that situation.

Are you guys taking about Brewster, the center from Ohio State? Yeah, he would be a good center for us. Could probably get him in the 3rd.

It's official per Shefter. Just wondering how far off our contract was from the Saints because it was only a 5 yr. 36 mil. deal. Not far off of what Yanda got and from what was reported by the Ravens their deal was similar as well.

Grubbs was good but not great and after the overhaul of the o-line last year and all the changes that were made his departure doesn't bother me as much really. There will be another to follow him that is just as good, but having him at his age and skill set was what set him apart I guess. I still see great things in the future for the o-line and this team.

Hoping to have Mathis signed soon. He'll be a good pick up to groom a guard (we draft) to replace him in 2-3 years.

I thought we could have matched that tbh. That was a very reasonable contract. We must have low balled him a bit

That's what I was thinking. I thought that it was reported that we offered something on the terms of what Yanda got last year and the deal he got was very close to that exactly. I wish we knew what was really offered but we won't ever know I guess. He was great for his age and everything but the o-line will move on.
