Still think we'll probably pick someone else up in FA. Could go after Jason Brown to slide in at guard. Curious to see how we'll respond especially with holes in our LB core and on the inside of our offensive line. Konz very well may be the pick now since he could also slide in at guard and be our future center also if he falls but I'm doubting that he will anyway.

Yeah well who do you suggest fill the spot? I don't think Reid is ready and ..jury's out on Gurode. I love the offensive line....I just want the guys to stay consistent..the constant shuffling doesn't help.
Gurode is done in my book. Reid was drafted in the 3rd. The team reportedly had to move up to get him because NO liked him a lot too. He was healthy and active every game last season and played some snaps on offense too; if the coaches feel comfortable starting him at guard next season, I won't question the move.

I loved the o-line too, but good teams lose quality players all time. It's how the NFL is set up. It sucks when they're likeable guys too. But this time last year, who knew Pollard would be signed and play as well as he did for this team?

There's no reason the team can't develop or bring in more quality players along the o-line.

Evan Mathis resigns with Eagles.

Really? 25 mil for 5 years 7mil guaranteed and we couldn't beat that!...you have got to be kidding me. This guy was gold and a key factor in reinforcing our O-line. I couldn't be more pissed off.

I mean now we will probably have to waste a draft pick on a guard or look for a half-assed guy in free agency. This team just got a lot worse. You have problems at left tackle left guard and center....good job FO good job.
Please see: http://blogs.baltimo...eak-after-konz/ I am still in the corner for Konz, if it makes value-sense in round one.
That article states Molk would be a good fit in a zone based blocking scheme, exactly what we run...

Kiper is an idiot. Brewster & Blake are two very good centers. Brewster was projected as a 1st round prospect before last season. Molk isn't the 2nd best center behind Konz. That is ridiculous.

yeah, just like with floyd last year. Seems like the ravens have been targets to get played lately.....
You talking about Malcolm Floyd? Yeah let's see how did that work out? Chargers missed the playoffs and we were 1 game away from the Super Bowl. So Mathis decides to go back to a 8-8 team who missed the playoffs over us who were 1 game away from the Super Bowl... makes sense. /sarcasm.

Ozzie should send the Eagles an expense voucher for wining and dining Mathis in Baltimore! I imagine that Evan can't see himself playing for a winning team; hence his return to Philadelphia.

I am shooting for the Ravens to improve dramatically in the trenches because I think that is where our soft spot was and why we did not make the Super Bowl. If we for the next 3 years address our OL to make it more powerful and dominant, we cannot be selecting offensive lineman later in the draft and expect to do that.

Not signing Mathis really hurt, and as it stands now our weak spot is along the interior offensive line. Trenches is where it is at. Trenches.
Similarly, we need to uprade our pass rush, so we need to have a consistent rush opposite Suggs, and I know the Ravens along with me are counting on McPhee, but our pass rush needs to be addressed.
We cannot afford to lose ground in the AFC North. So if we do not improve on both of our lines, we again will not make the Super Bowl.

Damnit, why didn't we offer him hot dogs or crabs or something?

Everyone don't like krabkakes.

Just draft a guard with the first or second pick so I learn how to spell his name incorrectly.

Good. Now you, ernie and the other spelling police can shut the hell up when a poster makes one stupid error in the spelling of a last name. My point has been maid.

I can guarantee we won't be spending early picks in the next 3 drafts on the OL. Not getting Mathis does hurt, but you can find quality interior lineman late in the draft, the NFL is full of them. To be frankly honest I'm still not sure why Ozzie picked Grubbs in the first round in 2007. Case in point, Yanda is the better guard and was taken in the 3rd.

Everyone upset because some overrated guard was over paid to stay in Philly. I would've been pissed to pay that much for that guy. He's NOT worth. And this annual panic is just as stupid as the spelling police are on this board.

Ozzie knows what he's doing and he does it well.

I hope he gets past the Steelers. I think that's where he's gonna be drafted. But he'd be perfect for our OL.

The lower first is typically where you get the top guards in any draft so it makes perfect sense.

Draft a kid like Glenn or Konz who could start right away as opposed to paying a ridiculous contract to a guard that played on four teams on six seasons and is 30 years of age.

I was kind of hoping that the offensive line wouldn't be a huge priority when the draft came around because we're able to resign Ben and add some solid depth. At least Ozzie doesn't reach, but I'm getting worried now.

Well, I would at least like to see an emphasis for about the next 2-3 drafts on both our offensive and defensive lines. Potentially, I think we could lose ground in the NFC North next year if we are not able to run the ball stronger and better. If Rice can explode, Flacco will have that much of an easier time throwing the ball with consistency. The success of Rice on the ground, hinges on the play of our OL. So I am hoping the organization will draft OL high, this year and next.

Kiper is an expert. Mayock thinks he is.
Kiper really is not a good evaluator of talent. Mayock is much better in that realm.

Who cares that he's a "Baltimore guy." That doesn't make him the bedt at what he does.

This draft is deep with interior OL talent. I think this draft will emphasize the trenches.

Reading Comprehension fail.

@Ravenswin I like Kiper too because he always sticks up for the Ravens and he gives the FO a lot of props (deservedly so), but I think he does more listening to what teams are thinking than actual evaluation.
