The Eagles now have 22 mil in cap space. There's no doubt in my mind if he gives Philly the chance to match, he's choosing the Eagles.
They dropped Desean Jackson's cap number ( with an extension) from 9 million to 3 million. Is there any of our players we can do the same with? It kills me how tight we are against the cap.

they also said they want someone who can catch a ball, kendall wright can catch..
Thats not really the issue at hand. Doss can catch better than any WR on the roster, but he won't ever be more than a #3. They want the big and physical body on the outside.

Yeah, but what kills me most about that is that we don't go on Dan Snyder spending sprees, yet we are so close on cap and it seems Washington despite the spending sprees have more cap room than us. How is that possible?

It's not like he has been playing for the Eagles for years and has some kind of attachment there. He played at the vet minimum last year on a 1 year deal. Even if they Eagles match our offer, he just needs to decide which team would be a better fit and where he has a better chance to succeed. After the disaster that was the Eagles' season last year, it wouldnt surprise me at all if he chose the Ravens instead. If they offer him way more money, than that would be good reason to go back there.

I ask myself the same thing.

The Redskins spend and spend every year....yet they have plenty of room. Hell they're even getting penalized and still have plenty!

The Eagles.....they signed half of the NFL last year and still are sitting pretty.

I just feel uncomfortable being so pressed against the cap and we have Webb, Flacco, and Rice who need extensions. Webbs cap hit is going to jump tremendously, and we all bank on Ed and Ray retiring to free up space. How sure are we Ed and Ray will retire after this season lol?

The Redskins always have cap room, because they have a history of drafting poorly and not needing to pay their own players big deals like the Ravens always do. When was the last time the Redskins drafted a Franchise player that was awarded a big contract?

The Redskins are so far under the cap because they rarely sign their own & they cut free agents they do sign. If we cut Lewis, Reed, & didn't have Ngata or Suggs we would be pretty far under the cap, too.

In a few years watch the Eagles. I guarantee you they will be cutting players.

Brian Orakpo. While he's still on his rookie contract, Orakpo is definitely a franchise player.

I agree, but they havent had to pay him yet. Kerrigan too, but over the past decade they have pretty much failed at drafting. Their only gem was Sean Taylor, may he RIP.

Evan Mathis is taking his time. All the other guards are being signed off. It's goin to be hard to compete with the Eagles, since they moved a bunch of reconstruction of their cap. We're taking the wait and watch approach. Good thing the ILB market is slow, so we have a good chance to resign McClain.

Jameel McClain already got his market set with the contracts below.

Dan Conner - 2 years, $6.5M; $2.7M guaranteed
Lofa Tatupu - 2 years, $5.75 million

I think the Broncos like the fact that he could come cheap, instead of spending on one of the premier ILB (Tulloch, Lofton). The Broncos have to save all the money they can so they can throw the bank at Peyton Manning. Jameel always know that there's a contract, a number, and a spot waiting for him in Baltimore. It's true that he wants to see big money, since he was an undrafted free agent. However,it seems solid ILBs don't go for a lot, so maybe he should sign a nice contract and finish off in an organization that he will enjoy.

i wouldn't be upset if he didn't sign here, Gurode is serviceable if not spectacular for one year and Boren is a dark horse to start with his potential.

Nowhere, I don't think we'll be able to sign Winston. If we do, I think we try to trade or just cut Oher. He's the weakest point on the line.

We'll get some more depth at Safety, that's not really anything to worry about. I don't know what you mean by "most likely no Mathis," he went home to discuss the offers with his family. I'd say that's a coin-flip, if anything. Grubbs was likely to leave, Mathis is our current plan to fill the void he's left, if we don't get him we'll work on something else. JJ and Redding were perfectly fine players but we have depth behind them and and its time for the younger guys to start. I'm not sure how this is any different then us letting Heap, Gregg, Mason, and McGahee go last year. Kruger and McPhee had absolutely beast years as 3rd-down pass rushers (McPhee in particular) and might be ready to work into a more full-time role. Art Jones will probably split snaps with McPhee at DE, and I'm excited to see what both of them can do, McPhee getting more snaps is nothing but good. I'm a bit worried about how well Kruger will play as an every down back, but not everything is perfect, and he's certainly earned another look. We have a lot of draft picks invested in our front 7, and I think it's a good thing, not a bad one, that they're going to get more playing time.

The world is certainly not ending because we lost reliable but not exceptional 30 year-old starters.
Mathis said he was going home to discuss it with his family but what he did, was discuss it with the Eagles. Who have in turn said they will offer or better the Ravens' offer. Could be mistaken, but seems to me we've been played in that scenario.

Last year we were not losing this many starters to FA plus they were not guys in the trenches. You can plug in a good/solid rookie at positions here and there and be fine. But it is unrealistic to expect to be competitive if you are fielding a majority of rookies on the line (both sides). I agree with McPhee. I have no issues in that regard. Not sure on Jones yet. Really haven't had a chance to see what he has and if Kruger is our plan, he needs to step up his game some. He showed flashes of promise last season but not enough for me to feel confident he's our guy.

Not paniking, I know these guys are pretty good at what they do, but not real confident right now either. Not doubting their abilities in the FO, just not seeing that they have a lot of options with our cap space. Just facing reality here. It could be a long season, especially with the schedule we have.
considering we just paid ellerbe 2mil on a 2nd round tender I would be pissed if we didn't pony up 3 or 3.5 a year for McClain. We can still cut ties with ellerbe and his tender. Maybe get him cheaper then

It doesn't matter if we don't get Mathis. We will be fine with or without him. The Ravens will make it work, I believe in that.

It does sound like he is playing the Eagles for money, though.

If we lose out on Mathis it will suck because there is no way Decastro or Cordy Glenn would fall to 29 and we could put them in at G immediately.

This would be a good move for our line he hasn't allowed a sack since 2006 and that would help joe flacco have a littlebit more time to make better desisions

I like it when someone finds something positive about losing Grubbs and not signing a career journeyman guard as a replacement. I'd love to have Decastro or Glenn in the first round.

A journeyman guard like Evon Mathus is not worth all of this drama.

He can keep on steppin. I'd rather try to sign Erik Winstin and either move Michael Or either to guard or trade him on draft day.

yea .. I saw that last night. U could look at that picture and get several ideas about what it might mean. But more then likelt it means he is choosing between those 2 teams .. Ravens and Eagles. I would Love for him to sign here .. But I think he's staying with the eagles. :/
