That was a bad indicator of his actual speed. A poor start set him back on the "official time" but he was clocked in the 4.4s unofficially. That said, I really dont care about 40 times when the dude looks explosive on the field. If anything he made RGIII look better not vice versa.
Clayton was the same way though, ran in the 4.4s was explosive in college and used in a variety of ways. The team is trying to get bigger at WR or straight up lightning fast. I don't know if Wright is lightning fast like Torrey is, all I know is I really doubt Ozzie wants a 5'10 and a 6'1 starting WRs.

I dont think Ozzie is nearly as concerned about the size of WRs as some fans are.

He's wanted to get bigger there for awhile, he's publicly stated he wants "big throwing to big". Also if Cam has any input at all with his scheme then he's likely looking at big targets.

It is an "anonymous source" so hopefully it's all just hot air and Mathis wasn't just drumming up some leverage to go back to Philly.

I believe he will end back up with Philly. It seems that is where he wants to be. If he is taking the time to let them know the contract details then it would seem he wants them to beat the Ravens offer so he could return. The eagles also have $22 Mill in cap. They could blow any offer of ours out of the water.

I do not see any reasoning at all to sign Winston. The Ravens would then have 3 RT's on their roster. On top of that, Winston wants some serious money. Do we have the cap for that after signing Birk?

Remember we need a couple million for the draft and draft picks. That leaves the Ravens will only a couple mill in room. I don't see them getting Mathis or Winston.

find me a quote where winston said he wants to be the highest paid RT in the league... please find me it

it was reported via a miami newspaper, without a quote.

Winston himself said, straight from his own mouth, he wants to play for a winner.

And regards the three RTs, oher will probably go to fill the void at LG and Winston starts at RT. thats plan c, plan a was grubbs, b is mathis

While it was a Miami newspaper, doesn't mean it has no substance to it. Also he had a great year last year and was set to make ( I believe it was) $6 Mill last year. Why would the man accept a contract for anything less than that?

The Ravens can def. Not afford him at $6 Mill a year.

he was set to make 6 and got cut because his current team felt it was too much, rarely does someone cut, make more than they were cut for.. he can get money elsewhere, but if he wants to win like he said he does, he would come here

Hopefully Mathis would give Baltimore a shot to match Philly's offer, if it's within reason of course... although he doesn't really owe us anything.

Baltimore > Philly

He's never going to develop into anything if he plays a different position every single year. If we sign a RT I find it far more likely we try and move him.

For the record i know that, i wish this was his 4th yr at RT, because he probably would be one of the best in the league, im just throwing out ideas as to why we are looking at one of the best RTs in the league in winston.

Where do you think we move winston? LT is now out of the question after mckinnie meeting with the ravens yday, he will be getting his bonus tomorrow, passed the weigh in, agreed to come to OTAs and was told he will be here next year. Its been leaked he may even get an extension

I hope not. His play suffered a bit down the stretch.

I agree with you though; we are out of the Winston chase. That's expecting, though, that we will continue to believe in Oher as the starting RT

Sooooo I'm just not seeing the Master Plan right now. No Safety help now, most likely no Mathis, no Grubs, no JJ, no Redding, even if Birk comes back we still need a Center, this is just downright scary at the moment. Don't really see us going anywhere if we have to field a bunch of rookies in the trenches.

Wasnt everyone having a panic attack last year when we didnt make a ton of moves right off the bat? Seems to have worked out pretty well.

Nowhere, I don't think we'll be able to sign Winston. If we do, I think we try to trade or just cut Oher. He's the weakest point on the line.

We'll get some more depth at Safety, that's not really anything to worry about. I don't know what you mean by "most likely no Mathis," he went home to discuss the offers with his family. I'd say that's a coin-flip, if anything. Grubbs was likely to leave, Mathis is our current plan to fill the void he's left, if we don't get him we'll work on something else. JJ and Redding were perfectly fine players but we have depth behind them and and its time for the younger guys to start. I'm not sure how this is any different then us letting Heap, Gregg, Mason, and McGahee go last year. Kruger and McPhee had absolutely beast years as 3rd-down pass rushers (McPhee in particular) and might be ready to work into a more full-time role. Art Jones will probably split snaps with McPhee at DE, and I'm excited to see what both of them can do, McPhee getting more snaps is nothing but good. I'm a bit worried about how well Kruger will play as an every down back, but not everything is perfect, and he's certainly earned another look. We have a lot of draft picks invested in our front 7, and I think it's a good thing, not a bad one, that they're going to get more playing time.

The world is certainly not ending because we lost reliable but not exceptional 30 year-old starters.

Change that to LT and I'd agree with you. He was excellent at RT his rookie year and I think given some consistency he'll improve. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but if we keep moving him he'll never grow into anything.
