What Should The Ol Lineup Look Like?

11 posts in this topic

there are so many possibilities we could try assuming grubbs is lost by now. let me hear your opinion on who we could pick up in FA/Draft or slide positions to make the best possible starting O-Line this season.

Apparently we are looking at Evan Mathis. That'd be a good consolation.

i like him also but every day i look up his name, i see he is willing to take a hometown discount, wants to be an eagle, etc. he doesn't seem tempted to leave but i hope we can snatch him though.

if we could land mathis and then draft a center or sign brown if he wants to win more than money we we greatly solidy the inside of our line. Oher is still iffy and we have been linked with winston but i dont see us being able to afford him... LT i think we draft a a guy like nate potter or matt reynolds to groom for a year an dstep in eventually.. unless mike adams is there at 29, i think we would pick him even though im not sure of him..

That about covers every possible scenario atm

Ask me in late April. Too many variables - start of FA, draft impending... Even then, you never know, we may sign someone in the 11th hour like a McKinnie or Anderson.

You mean an upgrade, for less then Grubbs would cost us.

Mathis please!

We might as well sign Jamaal Jackson too. He's younger than Birk and has been pretty good as the Eagles' center.

That would keep our O-line strong for several more years, take our minds off of those positions and we could concentrate on another tackle this upcoming draft.

I would be very happy if we landed Mathis, especially if he came cheap. If we could sign him for 3.5-4M, I would call that a steal. We would essentially have lost Redding for Mathis in that case, due to the salary & all. He does concern me because of how often he has been injured, though. That's one thing about Grubbs--he was only injured last year. He was healthy before that.

I'm also concerned that Mathis could be a one-year wonder.

Whoever it is it needs to be a long term arrangement, I'm sick of the oline shuffle.

This is exactly why I don't want a FA guy, unless he's a younger dude. Offensive lines need chemistry to grow, and if you can get an OL to work together for a multitude of years, they could develop into a very elite oline.
