Apparently these two teams tried to take advantage of the uncapped year and heavily front-loaded some contracts to save salary in future years.

The League told them not to do so, and they will now suffer the consequences.

Redskins lose 36 Million in cap room

Cowboys lose 10 Million in cap room

This loss of cap room can be allocated over the next two years, 2012 and 2013.

Every other team except NO and Oak receives an extra 1.6M in cap space.

Sucks to be Mike Shanahan.

I don't know which of these two would suffice for this situation: a Mrs. Krabappel "HA!" or Nelson Muntz "HA-HA!"

Ok so here is why the Raiders don't get the extra $1.6 Million...
For the Raiders, the dumping of salary in 2010 arose specifically from the dumping of JaMarcus Russell from the roster.
I'm guessing the only reason the rest of the teams get more cap space is to prevent players from being crowded out? Meh. If anything I thought the Jets would be the biggest culprit of this. Who were the Skins spending their money on? Albert Haynesworth?

Skins gave Haynesworth $21 mil and Deangelo Hall $15 mil, The cowboys gave Miles Austin big money, and the raiders didnt get money because they cut ties with J Russel, and didnt the huge dead cap hit, it hasnt been annouced why the saints didnt get money, mayeb jahri evans? when was he signed

And i think the reason the money has be redistributed rather than them just losing it is because then the NFLPA cant complain about there being less cap space overall, therefore less money to pay players. The overall Cap for all teams is still the same this way

That they are lol, although I would say the Cowboys are in even worse shape as they were already up against the cap. The Redskins still have some wiggle room.

Yep, sounds about right. You would think that the teams that tried to save cap space illegally would be the ones with too many good players to pay. Must be a good year to be a Giants fan.

I almost feel sorry for Oakland. Drafting Russell was a huge mistake and they couldn't even catch a break by getting rid of him.

The Redskins monster trade makes even less sense now. They were counting on being able to use free agency to replace players that they might have drafted with those picks (so I hear) and now that option has taken a hit. Surely, they had an inkling that this was coming? Oh, what am I saying? This is the same team that gave Hanynesworth a 100 million dollar contract and traded three 1st rounders and a second to move up 4 places.

As for the Saints, I'm going to make a wild guess and say that they just aren't in the NFL's good graces right now.

NFL says the Cowboys & Redskins must take half of their cap hit this season.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/13/league-requires-cowboys-redskins-to-take-half-their-cap-reductions-in-2012/
A league source tells PFT that the teams will be required to absorb at least half of the cap consequences in 2012. For the Cowboys, it means $5 million in lost cap room. For the Redskins, $18 million disappears.
Cowboys & Redskins have filed a grievance against the NFL and the NFLPA.
