Redskins Trade Multiple Picks To Rams For #2 Pick

108 posts in this topic

Three 1s, and a 2nd for this season. Jumpin jesus! St. Louis is going to be a very very mean team. 2 firsts for the next three seasons, and you know Washington still isnt going to do much, so they will be high picks.

Actually, I predict they win their division. That division is really close & competitive. If they signed Randy Moss & someone like Manningham from the Giants they might have something. I could see them try to pick up Dallas Clark now that he is a free agent. They could go after Garcon.

They need some help at cornerback, safety, wide receiver, & linemen. The draft has some good late-round wide receivers & corners, as well as some interior linemen. I could see their draft go like this:
3rd: Blake (familiar with RG3)
4th: cornerback, someone like Boykin if he is there.
4th: some interior lineman that dropped
5th: wide receiver like Hilton if he is there, or someone like Fuller.

Not predicting the rest of their draft, just giving an example. They would be smart to acquire Marcus McNeil if he is released, or get Gaither or Bell. Maybe we could trade McKinnie to them for their 3rd lol.

I thought the Falcons were foolish for giving up so much for a WR; I called the Raiders insane for trading for Palmer, but the Redskins have taken it to another level. I'm not even sure that there is an appropriate term for this madness so I'll just settle for caling them stark-raving-coocoo-fo-coco-puffs.

It was a huge package to move up 4 spots but they got their guy and they have the cap space to rebuild that line and get him a wideout to throw to.

Rg3 to redskins, well there goes his career Jk lol. Good move on the Browns part for not giving in. Looks like Morris Claiborne and Joe haden are going to be a tandem next year.

What is wrong with the Redskins? RG3 better be one of the best QBs ever or fetch a lot of championships, that's a huge price.

When you compare it to what the raiders could have gave up for carson, 2 first had they made the playoffs, while the redksins effectively give 2 firsts and a 2nd for RG, its not as bad as it first looks

In my mind I love the trade for both teams.

For the Skins, It's really just 2 first round picks and a 2nd for a potential franchise QB, that they have desperately needed for as long as I can remember.

To a franchise thats been starving for a QB, one thats been watching other teams draft QB's over the years and become successful they felt this was their best chance to get one, and they pounced on it.

RG3 will now be the face of their franchise, and who I believe will do great in the NFL. He also comes with a great intangibles that any team would love to have. Even if he is a complete bust, they are now forced to not give up on him in the next 3 years, which could be good. It may seem like they gave up a lot for him, but if they make the playoffs in the next 3 years it will worth it.

As for the Rams, this trade was beautiful. They have no excuses to not be competing in the next 2-3 years.

More like Matt Flynn to Justin Blackmon is going to be a good tandem next year. I know the Rams traded down and are banking on Blackmon still being there but at 6 I doubt it, so I think the Rams need to take Dontari Poe with the 6th Pick if Blackmon or Claiborne isn't there.

The Raiders had to WIN a playoff game, not just make the playoffs. That specific stipulation would have meant the trade would have been worth it. But in reality it was always going to be a 1st and a 2nd. An extra 1st on top of a deal that was already boneheaded is, in fact, much worse.

Well at least now they'll be able to surround RG3 with good young talent in coming years.

Wait...
Don't worry, Snyder will spend big and over pay either Vincent Jackson or Marques Colston so they will have that covered.

Poe would be a solid pick. Fisher was in Tennessee when Haynesworth was stil dominating games... and defensive tackle is a highly-valued position, often seeing several guys taken in the top 10.

I would also look at Michael Floyd if Blackmon is gone. I don't see a huge dropoff between the two, if they really are targeting Blackmon. Reiff would also be a strong pick, and address the WR in the second. With all of the picks they've acquired, they can add weapons down the line...protect your franchise quarterback right now... leave Justin Smith at RT....

And they could also possibly trade down AGAIN if someone is targeting a guy like Coples or Claiborne if he's still there.

Well now I understand the logic.

If you never draft anyone in the first round, you never have to pay them. Therefore, you save money, so you can overspend on big name free agents.

so your saying you would rather have carson palmer for a 1 and 2, than RG3 for two 1s and a 2? i thinik id rather take the guy with huge potential, fits the system perfectly, cheaper contract, and could very well stil have 15 years later all for an extra first

The funny part is Blackmon will probably still fall to the Rams. They didnt lose a thing, and they gained first round draft picks for the next three years. The Rams are in great shape.

Could the Redskins really screw this up even more and actually trade up for someone who is NOT RG3?

I'm saying both deals are insane. I don't even want to think about which one I'd rather have... that's like saying 'would you rather be a Bills fan or a Browns fan?'

i know what you mean, but i was trying to put it into context with the last QB trade, and compared to that its a very reasonable deal... but if your a team that hasnt had a QB in years and a guy with RG3 talent is coming out, you have to get him, and the rams knew that.

This is correct. It's a pet-peeve of mine how people talk about draft trades... They're not "getting 3 first rounders". They're getting 2; they already had one; the selection order is just changing.

The Raiders organization has been such an outlier in the sanity department that you can't really talk about them in terms of comparability.

It's like saying... "compared to Roseanne Barr, she's actually not that bad looking."

Oh come on it's Washington, of course there is a chance they could screw it up.

I read that the Browns didn't want to give up their second first round pick(22nd overall) in the trade to move up for Griffin and that they not only wanted to trade up two spots but keep their second first round pick. Ladies & Gentlemen, the reason Cleveland will always be in the basement of the AFC North, they aren't willing to risk it all for a Franchise QB.

I actually have to give the Browns some credit... not many teams are self-aware enough to realize that, no matter who they bring in, they're going to get destroyed in the AFC North and be out of the league in 5 years.

RG3 is the next Michael Vick? Well we all know what happened to him when the Ravens came to town.

I will say this though, I do think RG3's talents could over come the lack of support in Washington and make them at most a 7 or 8 win team next year.
