Redskins Trade Multiple Picks To Rams For #2 Pick

108 posts in this topic

RG3 & Cam Newton in the same conference and play each other this year, wonder if the media and NFL will make a big deal out of it by making Redskins/Panthers a prime time game this season, like on Monday Night or Thursday Night Football.

Really, was anyone at ALL shocked about this? RGIII is the perfect quarterback for Shannahan's offense, he has star power enough for Dan Snyder, and he seems like a good guy and a hard worker who has all the intangibles to go with his abilities. No brainer. Now the Rams have a gold mine of draft picks they're sitting on the next few years. Imagine the magicians in our front office working deals and drafting players with that kind of firepower. Hopefully the Rams don't blow it.

We're talking about the Browns, here. They will draft Tannehill with their #4th pick & then get some wide receiver or RB with their 2nd 1st. I am glad this trade is done. It allows us to get a clearer picture of who will be available. I see the first four picks as Luck, Griffith, Kalil, Tannehill.
If Tannehill gets drafted 4th overall, this will be the most gutsy QB draft ever, IMO. The Colts so sure of Luck that they release Manning, the Redskins mortgaging their NFL future for RGIII, and the Browns drafting Tannehill in the top 4.

STL is going to have a murderous draft. They're likely going to take Richardson and Blackmon or Floyd.

Better snag Bradford as a sleeper on my fantasy team...

Also add in that potentially Tim Tebow could be traded if Peyton lands in Denver, Matt Flynn is a Free Agent, it's going to get even more crazy in the next month or so.

The Browns are just so stupid & bad at drafting it is unreal. I mean, didn't they take Greg Little in the 2nd round last year? I remember reading he was a 3rd to 4th round prospect. They are just so stupid it annoys me. I'm telling you, I got this feeling they will take Tannehill with their 4th overall pick. Then some team will trade up with us to try to get Weeden or someone. Lol it's unreal.

Not saying we will trade, but I am sure we will get offers.

If Peyton ends up in Denver, Tebow goes to Jacksonville IMO - where he actually has 1) a good shot to beat out Gabbert and 2) apparently has a cult-like following, and Flynn will be in Miami.

Technically didn't they get 2 first rounders+ a 2nd rounder from Washington and swap 1st round picks this year

Which would mean 2 1st round picks and a 2nd round, still robbery nonetheless.

I still feel Manning takes his talents to South Beach. I feel like Flynn could to go Cleveland, but they are so stupid they might pass on him, too.

We were going to draft Little in the 2nd round, apparently, if Torrey hadn't fallen that far. They had a first round grade on Torrey and a second round grade on Little, if I remember correctly. Little is actually a good receiver - I think he just suffers from a terrible lack of talent at almost every other offensive position around him. Maybe Joe Thomas is/was the only great player on that offense last year. And Colt just can't play. If Seneca Wallace had played that entire Steelers game, I maintain to this day that the Browns would have won.

I'm reading that there's many Redskins fans who are HAPPY about this trade.

I don't understand it. The best teams have always built through the draft with multiple picks. Rarely has a successful trade occurred where so much was given up for one guy.

I mean, I love RG3. I hope he does well at the next level. But with the way the Redskins are approaching this, they're not giving him the best chance to succeed.

Well you do have to remember this is a team that has not been to the playoffs since 2007, has only been to the playoffs 3 times in the last 20 years (this off winning 3 Superbowls in the 80s), and since their last Superbowl win, they've watched the Cowboys win 3 Superbowls, the Giants win 2 Superbowls, and the Eagles reach 5 NFC Championship games and 1 Superbowl. Not that they should be happy, but they've been starving at the quarterback position since Rypien was QB - if Griffin is even an above average starting QB on this team 4 years from now, they might take that as a win.

What if RG3 becomes the best QB in the league?

With how much they've given up, he better.

Wow i didn't think it woudl really take 3 first rounders and a second, we can always count on dan schnyder. They still need a line, wr and ilb and a corner.

I'm starting to think that manning will go to miami, and flynn will go to cleveland. I have to update my mock draft since i had the browns trading up but the browns will def build from this draft. They will either get blackmon or richardson with the #4 and then get cordy glenn if he is available with their second first round pick. They can then get a rb with their second round pick like lamar miller or ryan wilson.

I hope they pick Richardson at four. That's the best case scenario for the Ravens, as you can get a good running back in any round, and Richardson is incredibly overrated. It's essentially a waste of a high first round pick.

Richardson is going to be a monster, I don't think its the best case scenario for the ravens if the browns picked him. The best case scenario is if the bucs pick him or something. Richardson is easily a top 10 talent, and he might just be a top 5 talent. He is probably one of the stonger backs in the past decade and hes not going to be easy to bring down even in the nfl. I just think that a lot of teams will look at the talent at other positions early in the first (esp teams with multiple needs like the browns) and feel that rb can be addressed in the 2nd-3rd round.

The rams will prolly get riley reiff or floyd (if the browns get blackmon). I don't think they will get richardson with the first round pick bc they need to give bradford a target or protection

Did you not watch the National Championship or Bama-LSU round 1? If LSU could shut down Richardson with a bunch of college kids I'm pretty such Suggs, Ngata, and the gang will be able to do the same.

I really wanted to see RG3 succeed, but the Skins aren't putting him in a very good position by mortaging their "draft pick" bank. Nuts!!!

lol..so i guess 90 something yards rushing a td is getting shut down. He had a 4.8 YPC which is pretty solid against the second best defense in college fb. I'm not worried about suggs and ngata, we just don't know who our ilbs are going to be after ray leaves. Richardson is a beast, he rushed for more than a 100 in 10 out of the 14 games they played last year in the SEC, thats pretty impressive to say the least

An elite franchise QB is worth at least 3 first round picks easily, and even if RG3 becomes a bust they still have to make the deal as this is their best opportunity to get a franchise QB. High risk, high reward, all in.

It's relatively stupid for most other teams, but about on par for the Redskins. So it's actually not that bad.

Wouldn't want our Ravens doing anything like this though.

In saying that, I still like this deal better than the Sanchez extension.

No, the totality of the trade is 3 firsts and a second for one pick. Its hilarious!

Read an article this morning talking about Snead, the new GM in St. Louis, and how smart he was. The Rams set a price for that draft slot, and they just sat back and waited for someone to pay their price.

Which the 'Skins did with style. And stupidity. And desperation. 'Yeah sure RGIII you're our guy but now we can't get a good supporting cast for you for a few years. Good luck!'

i think its too much, but i think the redskins needed to make this move. they wont get manning, or flynn.. they need a QB, they have a good defense, if they could add a VJax or Colston to the WR corps, and an Oline player or two they could go somewhere....ben grubbs anyone, Demetrius Bell, heck id trade them oher for next years 1st.....wait....

Three 1st round picks is a lot to us, because we know the Ravens know how to draft. We have consistently built a very good team. Yeah, we have had busts. We have had high picks not produce. It's happened. The Ravens know how to build a quality team, though. We know that. We are one of the best out there, and I say that without any bias.

If you are the Redskins, this move makes sense. They haven't been that good when it comes to drafting, especially offensive talent. They seem to be better with defensive talent, but they haven't picked the best players. I think this move was a good one, though I wouldn't have done it and would have been infuriated if our Ravens did this.

This move is consistent with how the Redskins build their offense--through free agency. They will be big players for one big WR FA. I think they get Colston, VJax, Royal, etc. They will get someone.

They overpaid, but I think this is better for the Skins than the Sanchez extension is for the Jets. Very high risk, possibly very high reward. They'd better hope he's all he's hyped up to be as well as hitting on their other remaining draft picks.
