Redskins Trade Multiple Picks To Rams For #2 Pick

108 posts in this topic

Per Jay Glazer on Twitter, the Washington Redskins have traded multiple draft picks to the St. Louis Rams for the #2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, including this year's 1st-round pick, 1st-round picks in the 2013 and 2014 drafts, and other picks to be disclosed. Do the Washington Redskins even know they're a professional football team?!?!

Wow. Well this is why they are the Deadskins.

Given everything that has been going on so far with other teams, this season should be very interesting.

Can the Redskins really be that poorly managed?!? Can Daniel Snyder be that bad of an owner, that he pulls off the most team-killing move in NFL history, possibly worse than the Saints trading away all of their draft picks for Ricky Williams?!?

They gave up that much for one player and they still need so much more on their team?!?! Really???

Incredible

And there was me posting in recent weeks that Synder had changed and the new regime would not be pulling off any outrageous moves
I was wrong, badly wrong for thinking Synder had changed

Well done Rams, here's to a bright future

Wow. The pressure on RGIII to succeed just increased tenfold. But no matter how well he plays, this will still be a horrendous trade.

That's amazing. Three first round picks? My God. I didn't expect something that crazy or extreme. They must be sure that RG3 is their guy.

I figured the Eagles had a chance, but nobody in their right mind would trade three first round picks. Well, nobody except Snyder.

Wow this is crazy!
Its kinda smart though.
3 first round picks is a lot for a potential franchise QB. But It means they cant give up on him for the next 3 years.
Still a lot though, Idk I'm shocked!

And thank you Snyder. At least its not the Browns... But this could backfire, what if thy pick up Richardson and Floyd?

How is smart? They're severely lacking in a number of areas on offense. With the picks they've given up, it's going to be difficult building around Griffin. They've rarely had much success in free agency. And Shanahan hasn't exactly looked like a former Super Bowl-winning HC since he got there.

Per Schefter, the Redskins will still try to sign Peyton Manning.
Trade will not change Redskins plans in pursuing Peyton Manning. Intend to talk with and try to sign him, even if considered a longshot.
Imagine what the colts could have gotten from them.
A 1st round pick for every remaining year Peyton has left in him, plus a 2nd.
Theyre so dumb! With that they could have rebuilt much faster, especially with those picks being from the Redskins.

Wow... Redskins gave up way too much to draft RG3. Typical Dan Snyder, and so I guess they are going to go on a spending spree in Free Agency, because their draft is shot.

They finally got a legit QB. Even with the cost being ridiculous, and the trade being very risky, they just went for it. I guess they figured he's going to be their QB for the next 3 years no matter what, even if he is a bust, theyre now forced to stay with him.
There is no way they could compete in their division without a QB. They must be highly confident in him, and I think it could pay off in the long run.

Legit QB? RG3 hasn't even stepped on a NFL Field yet and your saying he is a Franchise QB? I say Jeff Fisher is off to a great start in St. Louis right now.

Seriously. I thought Luck was worth 4 first rounders. Maybe it's more like 6 or 7. Crazy.

We're talking about the Browns, here. They will draft Tannehill with their #4th pick & then get some wide receiver or RB with their 2nd 1st. I am glad this trade is done. It allows us to get a clearer picture of who will be available. I see the first four picks as Luck, Griffith, Kalil, Tannehill.

Them being forced to stick with him even if he busts makes the trade even more questionable.

I like Griffin, and I'm confident he'll succeed. But outside of the RB position and Fred Davis at TE, they're pretty thin the skill positions. And they're o-line has holes too.

Even if Griffin pans out, they're going to have hit on their free agent investments, something they've rarely done, and hit on multiple draft picks the next three years to give Griffin the help he needs (much tougher to do without a 1st).

We'll see how it plays out. As of right now, I think the gave up too much.

Redskins have a pretty decent defense. They just need a few pieces. They will be very active in FA this year. I see them signing at least one big name FA WR. They will need some OL for RG3. We could probably trade them our 2nd round pick for their 3rd & 4th this year, if those are still their picks. Not sure if I missed something.

They need WR, RB, OL help. They got some OK interior linemen. I think they need better tackles. I don't follow the Redskins that closely, but is that pretty accurate? I could see them spend the rest of their draft on linemen & maybe some corners. They will need a safety when they lose Landry.

I said potential franchise QB. Redskins had to make sure they could get their Qb and they did, And I agree, I think thats why Fisher took the job there.

I already projected the Redskins trading up so I won't have to change my mock but my second round mock will change since the Rams get the Redskins pick now.

I looked at the Redskins schedule... Redskins play Cleveland who also attempted to move up to the # 2 Pick, they play the Rams who they just traded with, and here is the big one... Carolina which means we'll get to see Newton vs RG3.

I do too, and thats the huge risk they took they must absolutely love him. But they had to do what they had to do to get their guy. I think they are heading in the right direction though. The next 2 years will decide if it pays off with proper drafting and good free agent signings. Their OL & D have some holes, but I think overall they have a good unit. Davis & Helu show a lot of promise. Maybe Hankerson could start to develope and they could become a contender in a couple of years. I'm excited to see RG3 vs Vick.
