Have you tried taking a de-load week? Sometimes your body reaches a point where it will start doing that kind of stuff to tell you it needs rest.

If you have tried a de-load week, then I recommend you switch up your routine a bit to shock your muscles. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

yea I'm going to totally change my workout after a week off and see how I get on

it is, I've even changed my routine since speaking to you and nothing happening. I might just be over training so going to take a full week off and completely change my whole workout then the following week. I'm going to blame it on exam stress lol

Have you been following the diet and tried the supplements I added?

It's weird to me that you have been losing weight and not having the energy to do all your workouts if you follow it to the point.

allright guys im needing some advice on core work outs.  Right now im 5'9 166 and 11% body fat.  I dont have a visible six pack, obviously i would like to have one, especially with lake season approaching.  Right now my core work outs consist of 2 sets of the 8min abs on youtube, 3 sets of 30 second planks, thats a bout it.  i know i lack cardio, mainly because of my torn meniscus while i was in the Marines.  Also, i dont know much about the nutrition aspect, so if anyone could recommend a good read up so i know im eating healthy, that would be awesome.  I mainly stick to fish and skinless chicken breast, eggs, protein bar and shake.

Hey guys,

so I am trying to get back in playing shape after having done no exercising over a year due to injury. I started my first body weight programm last week and I want to do some running/swimming exercises starting next week. Does someone have any tips regarding good running, agility or bodyweight exercises to get back into good shape? I don't want to do too much, starting slowly with the exercises getting tougher an harder every week. If someone has a tip for me that would be great and much appreciated!

Thanks for taking your time

Gaining weight is easy. Stop working out and eat a lot of fried food. Works for pretty much everyone who tries it.

I wonder if "evacuated" means the same thing on your side of the pond. Over here it is something we don't talk about (or do at the gym, usually).

Oh this is back again? I try and try to get myself to the gym but something always comes up. I get a lot of running in at Frisbee practice 3 times a week.

I keep meaning to go to the gym just to get my arms a workout. They're long and skinny. I want them at least wider for tattoos lol. Not about strength.

Man, that's always fun. I never skip exercise anymore. I do at least something daily. Lately, I've been working on a lot of cross-fit with some weight-lifting mixed in with it. I feel much, much stronger as a result. I also mix it up and do alternating  run days, with my  personal favorite 30-60s or 60-120s. I bought the elevation training mask, and man does it work. Alveolar expansion is definitely up and I feel it when I run. I trained in high elevations in the mountains for about four months, and you feel the difference without question. Gotta stay in shape. I always hated leg day, though. Maannnnn. That's the worst, but you just can't skip leg day. Can't do it! Lol.

So you run around looking like Bane? Lol

I was thinking of buying one. I've seen mixed reviews though.

Yeah, lol. I'm sure I scare the little kids at the track when their parents bring them. I do like to do the Bane voice with it, though. It's a lot of fun.

It works, I'll be honest. It's effective for really expanding your lungs. I'd recommend it. You'll feel the elevation working against you.

Have a certain brand/type you use? I saw on Steve Smith's twitter a pic of him with one awhile ago which gave me the curiosity.

Since then I've really worked on my breathing while exercising so I'm not sure how helpful it will be for me at this point.

I think there's only one brand?

Buy it on eBay, though. I got mine by being patient for only $60.

It'll help regardless of whether you're been working on your breathing without it. The idea is it simulates a higher elevation, which forces your lungs to work harder and increases your alveolar expansion, thus raising your red blood cell count to increase your hemoglobin to therefore increase your total oxygen binding capacity of your body. By using the mask regularly, you'll increase your RBC and Hgb and it'll make you faster in a sense that you won't be as winded while running for extended periods and even shorter periods.

Thanks. I'm going to look into it more

Just started back working out.  I use to be into "mild" body building back in my military days but have since then let it go.  Trying to stay toned up for my age now though cause I want to be around a long time to enjoy my family.

Been working out more recently but not looking forward to next week when the gym is slammed pack. Its good that those people are trying to make a change but let's be honest, most of them won't be there in mid January.

I hate January. It's so annoying for me to go to the gym and see all these fake people who set unrealistic goals who lack motivation to get it done. I'll probably do a lot of outside training or early morning training.

Just wanted to bring this back up because I saw something that might interest those who workout. While I was reading the new Ray Lewis book, he mentioned that when he was a kid he wanted to get stronger so by using a deck of cards. He took a deck of cards, flipped the cards over and based on the card, that's how many push ups he would do.

5 of clubs = 5 push ups. 9 of Hearts, = 9 push ups, etc. Picture cards were worth 10 push ups, Aces were 25 push ups and Joker cards were 50 push ups. In the book he said he went through the entire 52 card deck and once there were no cards left, he shuffle the deck and restart.

Been doing this the past two days, doing only a few cards at a time until my body is ready to go through the whole 52 card deck.
